Chapter 89: Forging the Nightmare, Awakening (1)
In a dream.
Within the imperial palace of the Great Dream Dynasty, the emperor stood in dragon robes, handsome of face and broad of shoulder. At the moment he was looking anxiously toward a man in a black robe: Nightmare.
“Imperial Tutor, the Mo family actually has Ghost City Grass. What should we do?” the Great Dream Emperor asked with concern.
“Does Your Majesty desire Mo Yuxi?” Nightmare said with a faint smile.
“Of course I do. If not for the throne back then, I would have long since taken Mo Yuxi as my consort by force. Now I am the Emperor of Great Dream, and in all the Great Dream Dynasty I am supreme. Whatever I want is mine!” the emperor said darkly.
“Exactly. You are the Great Dream Emperor. All of the Great Dream Dynasty belongs to you, and Mo Yuxi must belong to you as well,” Nightmare coaxed.
“Yes, I must have Mo Yuxi! The Yan family? I will slaughter them to the last. If Mo Yuxi refuses to be my consort, I will cut down her parents and exterminate her entire clan!” the emperor said coldly.
“As for Ghost City Grass, they have spiritual herbs, and I have them too. I can use half of my strength to create a spirit item specifically designed to counter Ghost City Grass,” Nightmare said gravely.
Within dreams, even Nightmare’s dream-making required a price to be paid. To break the balance, something had to be given up.
“Very well. I leave this to you, Imperial Tutor. Go and forge the spirit item, then! Hahaha!” the Great Dream Emperor laughed.
In the Yan residence, inside Yan Chuan’s study, Mo Yuxi stood with her belly rounded with child, gently grinding ink.
Yan Chuan looked at a map spread across the desk. The map was strange: only the center held any markings, while the surrounding area was blank.
“Husband, you have been looking at this map of the Great Dream Dynasty for a long time,” Mo Yuxi asked in puzzlement.
“Has it been long? Heh.” Yan Chuan smiled faintly.
When his smile faded, he looked once more at the map of the Great Dream Dynasty, his eyes narrowing slightly as he thought to himself, Nightmare creates dreams, but this dream is mine. He wants to disrupt my dream? To corrupt it? Hmph. My dream is not for others to control.
“Husband, the ink is ready,” Mo Yuxi said gently.
“You’ve worked hard, my dear,” Yan Chuan replied.
“It’s no hardship,” Mo Yuxi said tenderly.
Yan Chuan picked up the brush, dipped it in the ink, and looked again at the map.
“Nightmare has corrupted my dream, making it impossible for me to intervene? Then I will simply open a new dream and expand the borders of my world of dreams!”
“Writing with a brush to create a world? In the waking world, that is a realm spoken of only in legend. I cannot do it there, but this is not reality. This is a dream. In my own dream, I can accomplish anything I can imagine!” A glint of brilliance flashed through Yan Chuan’s eyes.
He lifted the brush and, on the eastern side of the Great Dream Dynasty’s map, wrote a great character in strokes like silver serpents.
Qin.
The moment that word fell onto the map, a torrent of clamorous sounds erupted at once.
Hiss!
Roar!
Kill!
The neighing of countless horses, the thunderous cry of armies charging in unison—around the character for Qin, black light seemed to rise in layers, slowly eroding a region nearly as vast as the Great Dream Dynasty itself.
“This... Husband, why is there sound coming from the map?” Mo Yuxi asked in shock.
“This is the east of the Great Dream Dynasty. A dynasty called Qin has been born there. Myriads of troops, heed my command!”
“Ah?” Mo Yuxi stared blankly.
Yan Chuan did not stop. Instead, around the map of the Great Dream Dynasty, he continued writing.
Zhao.
Han.
Wei.
Wu.
Shu.
Tang.
Ming.
Qin, Zhao, Han, Wei, Shu, Wu, Tang, Ming.
With the appearance of these eight great characters, eight territories of different colors immediately took shape, surrounding the Great Dream Dynasty’s lands at the center.
