Chapter Ten: The Burning of Emerald Cloud Mountain

Space artifacts are exceedingly rare; few can craft them as he does. His mastery of painting and calligraphy runs deep, he understands geomancy, and he even encounters the dragon vein? That’s far too uncommon. Though the space is not large, it is remarkable all the same. It seems, Mr. Wenruo will finally meet his match. Hehe! A sly smile flashed in the young girl’s eyes.

The crane let out a questioning cry, glancing at the girl.

“Haha, little crane, don’t you think it would be entertaining to put him together with Mr. Wenruo?” The girl laughed mischievously.

The crane flapped its wings, then suddenly nodded.

“Let’s go down, then. We should meet that young man!” the girl said with a smile.

The crane nodded in agreement.

Just as the girl prepared to descend atop the crane, a streak of purple light shot up from the western geomantic array. The purple glow soared skyward, bursting open like fireworks, transforming into a vast, violet orchid.

The crane called out in alarm.

The girl’s expression turned irate. “Those fools! I told them not to barge into the geomantic array, and yet they did! Now they’re sending a distress signal? Hmph! I’ll ignore them!”

The crane shook its head.

“Sigh, fine. For your sake, little crane, I’ll save them this time. Truly, a bunch of idiots!” the girl said angrily.

Lowering her gaze, the girl looked at Yan Chuan with regret. “What a shame. It’s rare to meet someone so interesting. Never mind, I’ll seek him out in a few days. I’ll return soon!”

“Let’s go!” she ordered.

The crane let out a long cry, spread its wings, and flew toward the source of the distress signal.

The colossal violet orchid blossoming in the western sky drew countless eyes. Yan Chuan, teaching Liu Jin to use the spatial scroll at the dragon vein’s mouth, suddenly saw the enormous signal.

He felt a sudden intuition and looked up sharply.

High in the clouds, a giant celestial crane beat its wings, heading toward the geomantic array.

“Hm?” Yan Chuan narrowed his eyes thoughtfully.

“Your Highness, what is that violet orchid in the sky?” Huo Guang asked in confusion.

“Pay it no mind. Our priority is to deal with the Great Zheng’s devotees and their ten thousand soldiers! This is the land of Great Yan. To enter without permission is a crime deserving death!” Yan Chuan said solemnly.

“Yes!” Huo Guang replied.

Everyone quickly packed up and continued on toward Emerald Cloud Mountain.

Halfway there, they stopped at the mouth of a valley.

“Your Highness, the scouts have returned!” Huo Guang reported respectfully.

“What’s the current situation at Emerald Cloud Mountain?” Yan Chuan asked.

Emerald Cloud Mountain is guarded by four chief devotees, the Grand Commander of Great Zheng, and three thousand soldiers. The remaining seven thousand have been split into several groups and sent toward the geomantic array,” Huo Guang answered.

“And the demon serpent?” Yan Chuan inquired.

“The demon serpent is also at Emerald Cloud Mountain,” Huo Guang replied.

“Good!” Yan Chuan nodded in satisfaction.

“However, five of our scouts are missing; they may have been captured!” Huo Guang’s face darkened.

“So, our plan to attack Emerald Cloud Mountain is likely exposed?” Yan Chuan said gravely.

“It’s possible,” Huo Guang nodded.

“Bring me the map!” Yan Chuan commanded.

“Yes!” Huo Guang promptly handed over the map.

Yan Chuan studied it and a faint smile touched his lips. “If that’s the case, we’ll turn their scheme to our advantage.”

“Uh? Your Highness, what should we do?” Huo Guang asked, puzzled.
