Chapter Fifty-Eight: Have You Chosen a Cemetery Yet?
Soon after, news spread across the desolate plains that the Lord of Green Leaves was preparing to purge the Great Immortal, and the death of Green Bronze was staged by Green Leaves himself. All of this was built upon numerous pieces of evidence, while Wuyun’s words, half real and half fabricated, drew from fragments of Green Bronze’s obliterated memories, and partly relied on Wuyun’s inventiveness.
What exactly had the Sand Serpent Immortal discovered within his belly? A bear, a little golden figure, a dragon. Along with the tiny creature hidden in the spatial storage pearl, the perpetrators of Green Bronze’s murder were all present. All within his stomach.
And Wuyun, the unnecessary one, was surely the overseer; as soon as any of these four showed themselves, it would confirm the charge of killing Green Bronze. Escape, escape, escape!
The Sand Serpent fled in panic, employing his supernatural abilities to race thousands of miles along the winding, endless riverbed. Only when he reached a place of extreme cold, where the waters carried the invisible essence of steel wrath, did he finally stop.
He had already left the territory of the desolate wilds, arriving at a perilous region where they often trained. Legend had it that beneath this place once lived an earth dragon beast of Immortal King rank; after it was slain, its powers infused the subterranean river, imbuing the water with steel wrath, intolerable even for a Celestial Immortal without a treasure to guard them.
The Sand Serpent let out a long sigh. Suddenly, a sigh echoed in his ear: “Have you chosen your burial ground yet?”
Startled, he felt chaos within his belly. His soul’s scrutiny revealed terror and unrest. He lacked even the courage to resist, cursing Green Leaves several times before collapsing heavily.
Inside his stomach, Wuyun held his breath, gesturing to Bear Old Third and the others to stop gnawing at the serpent’s heart, transmitting quietly, “Be extremely cautious, this snake is feigning death!”
Once one reaches the rank of Great Immortal, everyone has their own supernatural abilities. Ascending to Celestial Immortal allows instant travel over a thousand miles, and life-preserving powers abound. At the Immortal King level, one becomes a ruler of a star.
The Dragon Extinction Star, having produced an Immortal Emperor, is an imperial star, extraordinary in its position; two orbiting suns mark its status.
Bear Old Third ignored Wuyun’s warnings and continued devouring. He had just become a Thunder Immortal, requiring vast energy, and was cultivating the Sky Thunder Star technique. With the monster core from the strange bird beast, his cultivation advanced rapidly.
The Battle King was fascinated by the dense blood in the serpent’s belly, which seemed to form an array. He used it to cleanse his body, resisting corrosion, and forging himself into a tough immortal form.
Dragon One, naturally, needed no concern. Born an Immortal King, he possessed a celestial body, now cultivated to perfection. Further refinement would restore his Great Immortal status in no time.
Thus, after removing the damaged Ten Heavens and Nine Earths, it was he who feasted most heartily. Occasionally, an ancient dragon would emerge, snatching food with its maw.
Wielding the Divine Fright Blade, he moved as if in a deserted realm, unleashing a storm within the belly—a single slash to settle the world!
What unsettled Wuyun most was the once ancient yellow broken blade. With each act of slaughter, it slowly regained its glossy shine, and faintly, it seemed intent on purging the ancestral Six Talents Dragon and spawning a new spirit.
It wasn’t that he didn’t wish to nip danger in the bud, but Wuyun’s cultivation remained at the peak of the Broken God stage, not yet reaching the basic Condensing Spirit phase of the Immortal Realm.
Without the Ten Heavens and Nine Earths, he was the weakest of all.
After waiting half a day and seeing no sign of the feigning Sand Serpent, Wuyun’s face grew embarrassed. By then, the Sand Serpent’s true form, drained of immortal energy and blood, slowly withered, dissolving into a puddle, merging with the steel wrath essence.
Immediately, everyone howled in dismay. Within the serpent’s belly, they had not sensed the danger, but upon entering the river, it was as if they had plunged into molten steel, relentless, every moment like thousands of needles and blades assailing their bodies.
Since ancient times, the tallest have faced the brunt—Dragon One coiled himself at the center, Bear Old Third and the others nestled within. Inside Bear Old Third’s ear, Little Moon Seven sang childish songs.
Do not underestimate Little Moon Seven. In the Immortal Realm, even as a worm, absorbing immortal energy could allow it to reach the Condensing Spirit stage. Little Moon Seven was no exception.
After Wuyun silenced the little creature, he sensed for the tiny insect and remarked that the Sand Serpent was feigning death, for the storage pearl had yet to appear—clearly close, yet separated by a layer of space.
“That fiend must be hiding deep within the steel wrath river. I can smell the Buddhist aura of the little insect!” Dragon One’s eyes brightened, twin rays flashing forth, illuminating the river and revealing two rippling layers.
“These two ripples conceal a space. The Sand Serpent Immortal’s soul, carrying his innate light, is hidden within. Dragon One, it’s all up to you this time. If the Ten Heavens and One Earth intervene again, we won’t even get a scrap of treasure!” Wuyun said.
Indeed, the Ten Heavens and Nine Earths desperately needed to recover. After Green Bronze was obliterated, Wuyun saw not a hint of treasure within the storage space; rather, others suspected he was hoarding the spoils.
Dragon One smiled, slashed open the ripples to reveal a passage, leaped through, tossing the others into the steel wrath river and seizing the prize first.
Battle King’s body enlarged, taking Dragon One’s place. He found it odd that Wuyun, soaking in the steel wrath, seemed as comfortable as bathing.
“The sensation of grinding every bone and nerve is exquisite—the feeling of being alive is wonderful!” After a stick of incense’s time, Wuyun’s pitch-black body faded, revealing the bones forged for him by Saint Tyrant. Even treasures from the mundane worlds of Qianluo Space were rare in the Immortal Realm.
“Haha, flower, flower…” Little Moon Seven emerged from Bear Old Third’s ear, clapping and singing nursery rhymes upon seeing Wuyun’s fleshless skeleton.
Bear Old Third intended to flick it back in, but the patterns etched upon Wuyun’s bones left him dumbfounded. Where were the bones? Countless white, black, and yellow symbols, inscribed with characters, composed Wuyun’s body, constantly shifting and transforming.
“Is he man or ghost?”
Bear Old Third was perplexed; Battle King cautiously observed Wuyun, not daring to compliment, uncertain of Wuyun’s intentions.
“This is a curse from another dimension, essentially insoluble. However…” Before Wuyun could finish, a massive shockwave surged from the passage between the two ripples, crashing into him and fracturing every bone.
For half a day, Wuyun lay upon Battle King’s enlarged foot, unable to recover. Ever since arriving in the Third Immortal Realm, he had been as useless as a cripple.
“Damn!” From the passage, Dragon One emerged disheveled, clutching a sharp blade, with a spatial pearl above it. But the pearl was empty, save for a frenzied, spinning little insect.
The creature inside gnawed at various immortal metals, but when Dragon One unleashed the Divine Fright Blade, all but himself vanished.
Now, Dragon One could not explain, for the newly injured Wuyun was unable to speak.
“Boss Dragon, earlier Wuyun said clearly—not to hoard it all. Come on, share any good immortal artifacts you got; I don’t even have a handy one, just piles of broken heavy implements!”
Dragon One’s face darkened. Those immortal artifacts—aside from Great Immortals wielding a single piece, all other monster immortals only carried heavy implements. Did they think immortal treasures grew like cabbages in a field, endless?
“Hmph, I did have one immortal artifact, but I haven’t taken it out. On this blade is the storage pearl of that monstrous serpent. That fiend is still inside!”
From Dragon One’s tone, the meaning was clear—“I can’t beat him, you’ll have to help!”
