Chapter Twenty-Four: An Awkward Stance but a Devastating Combination Move

“It’s the Boar King! Brother Thin Monkey, we must flee!” Little Flower suddenly spread out behind Color Monkey, anxiously urging.

Color Monkey shielded Little Flower behind him, then turned to Scruffy Monkey who was rushing over. “Scruffy, take Little Flower and leave first.”

Scruffy leapt down from the tree. Seeing the ground littered with boar demon corpses and nearby the severed head of Big Horse Monkey, he was momentarily startled but quickly regained composure.

“Little Flower, we have to go. Staying here will only distract Brother Thin Monkey,” Scruffy said, pulling Little Flower along.

Little Flower wiped away her tears, glanced at Color Monkey, and said, “Brother Thin Monkey, you must come back. I’ll wait for you at Chaos Rock Hill.”

Color Monkey nodded with his back to her, gripping his blood-red long staff tightly. “Go quickly!”

The ground trembled nearby as the Boar King swung his massive wolf-tooth club, smashing giant trees aside and charging forward.

Scruffy hurriedly pulled Little Flower toward Chaos Rock Hill.

Zhou Yu silently watched the rapidly approaching Boar King, then stepped forward to stand shoulder to shoulder with Color Monkey.

“Today, I will become king!” Color Monkey declared.

“I’m here to help!” Zhou Yu replied.

No wonder he was a demon king. The Boar King’s massive body was that of a giant humanoid boar, standing six meters tall with arms as thick as well shafts. Long tusks protruded from his pig-like head, and his wolf-tooth club weighed three thousand jin. Under his swings, giant trees shattered as if made of paper.

“Boom!” The last giant tree was crushed. The Boar King strode into the clearing, sensing from afar the death of Big Horse Monkey. Rushing forward, he saw the mangled remains scattered everywhere.

“Brother-in-arms! You died so terribly!” the Boar King lifted Big Horse Monkey’s severed head and cried out to it.

“It’s all my fault! I shouldn’t have let you go out alone! This world is too dangerous!”

“Was it those two scoundrels who took your life? Brother-in-arms! Open your eyes and watch carefully. I will grind them to dust, smash them to pulp, so you can rest in peace!”

The Boar King carefully placed Big Horse Monkey’s head aside, wiped away his tears, then lifted his enormous wolf-tooth club and rose to his full height.

As he stood, a surge of demonic power radiated from his body, stirring the surrounding dry leaves into a swirling circle that pushed outward.

Zhou Yu frowned, thinking, Is this guy a little too passionate?

“Kill!” Color Monkey roared and launched the first attack, leaping high and bringing down the blood-red long staff in a powerful strike.

The staff sliced through the air like the wind, howling as it pressed toward the Boar King.

Seeing the staff was no ordinary weapon, the Boar King raised his thick arms, crossing his massive wolf-tooth club to block the blow.

A cold smile appeared on Color Monkey’s face. During his fight with the Ox King, the latter had exposed Color Monkey’s weakness—attacking while airborne left no room to adjust his posture, making it a one-hit kill move. This maximized power but was a death sentence against much stronger foes.

Later, when Color Monkey mastered the secret of his blood-red staff’s shape-shifting, the problem was solved. Though his body in midair could not change much, the staff could!

With a flick of his wrist, Color Monkey aimed the tip of the staff at the Boar King and shouted, “Extend!”

The blood-red long staff shot forward with a whistling sound, rapidly lengthening and piercing the air like a streak of blood toward the Boar King.

The Boar King was startled. This strange blood-red staff was extraordinary indeed, possessing the magic of extension and contraction! Yet he remained calm. Being stronger than the Ox King, he simply crossed his wolf-tooth club horizontally, once again blocking the attack.

With a sharp “clang,” the blood-red staff pressed against the club’s shaft, bending it slightly. The massive Boar King grunted and retreated a step, then raised his hand, lifting Color Monkey and the staff with him.

Suddenly, a flash of black light streaked forward as Zhou Yu attacked from below. The extraordinary ox fork in his hands transformed into a shadowy beam, stabbing toward the Boar King with full force.

The Boar King snorted coldly. Just as the black beam neared him, he roared and stomped his thick right leg down hard, embedding the ox fork into the muddy ground.

Zhou Yu was knocked down by the stomp, falling to the earth.

The Boar King’s huge wolf-tooth club smashed through the air, aiming to crush Zhou Yu, but his eyes caught another blood-red streak speeding toward him. Forced to raise the club to block, he stopped the blow.

Color Monkey flipped in midair and launched another attack before touching the ground, saving Zhou Yu.

A “clang” rang out as the Boar King was pushed back again. The ox fork stuck in the mud was freed as Zhou Yu lifted it and thrust forward.

The Boar King was only just steadying himself and couldn’t react in time. Zhou Yu’s strike landed!

However, the sharp ox fork couldn’t pierce the Boar King’s body. Just before breaking through his skin, a powerful resistance transmitted back through the weapon, preventing further penetration.

An invisible layer of demonic power cloaked the Boar King’s body.

This reminded Zhou Yu of the Celestial Wolf Demon King. Back then, it was only through Baidu’s electric shock that they broke his protective demon power; otherwise, he was invulnerable.

The Boar King before him also had protective demon power. Could he have reached the rank of Upper Demon General?

In truth, Zhou Yu simply didn’t understand demon kings well. Demon kings could spit demon bullets, and stronger ones could fire them instantly by hand. But protective demon power was usually only mastered at the Upper Demon King level because it consumed vast amounts of energy. Ordinary demon kings rarely used it so freely.

There was an exception: some demon kings abandoned developing demon bullets and instead devoted most of their power to cultivating defensive demon energy. This Boar King was one such example.

“Stop spacing out!” Color Monkey shouted, noticing Zhou Yu had suddenly lost focus mid-battle.

Zhou Yu snapped back to attention. But the Boar King wouldn’t let such a good opportunity go. His thick right leg launched a devastating kick at Zhou Yu, thunderous and fierce!

The gust from the leg, infused with demon power, split the ground’s mud aside, carving a long furrow like a plow.

“Boom!” The kick struck Zhou Yu squarely, sending him flying dozens of meters. He crashed through several giant trees before landing in the dirt.

Though Zhou Yu quickly shielded himself with his arms and knees and channeled energy into his limbs, he still heard the cracking of bones upon impact.

His entire body felt as if shattered bones were breaking, the pain intense despite his tolerance. Gritting his teeth, he directed energy throughout his body. The fractured bones made faint “crackling” sounds as they slowly mended.

In the distance, sounds of fierce combat between Color Monkey and the Boar King continued. The Boar King had to be cautious against the extraordinary blood-red staff.

Color Monkey wildly swung the staff, shifting its length, sometimes expanding it. Occasionally, he instinctively unleashed exquisite staff techniques. Within a short time, the battle had become evenly matched.

“Fine staff!” the Boar King grunted and charged again. Color Monkey was forced to retreat, and the Boar King glared fiercely at his now slightly bent wolf-tooth club.

“Are you alright?” Color Monkey retreated beside Zhou Yu and asked.

Zhou Yu climbed out of the pit, gritting his teeth. “I’m fine.”

“Then, let’s go!” Color Monkey said.

“All right!” Zhou Yu replied.

Color Monkey planted the blood-red long staff in the ground, gathering all his demon power into his right fist.

Zhou Yu’s hands moved swiftly, forming a clone seal, creating six duplicates of himself.

“Attack!” Zhou Yu shouted, and all six clones charged the Boar King simultaneously.

The Boar King uttered a surprised “Huh?” Clearly amazed that Zhou Yu knew cloning techniques. Facing six Zhou Yu clones attacking together, the Boar King cautiously stepped back, then surged forward, swinging his club. How could a mighty demon king fear mere clones? He just didn’t want to be struck.

Meanwhile, in the distance, Zhou Yu and Color Monkey each extended one hand, gripping firmly and stretching forward. Their other hands clasped each other as if in a dance.

“This feels so awkward,” Color Monkey said.

Zhou Yu sneered, “You don’t know flashy, powerful moves like me. If it feels awkward, so be it. Let’s go!”

Together, man and monkey charged forward in that awkward pose, accelerating rapidly. When they were about ten meters from the Boar King, they leapt into the air. Energy surged from their clasped hands as they spun, their forms blurring together. The energy around their fists intertwined, black and gold merging into a continuously spinning, multicolored diamond drill, hurtling toward the Boar King.

The Boar King swung his massive wolf-tooth club. One Zhou Yu clone bravely blocked the blow with his body, dissipating afterward. The other five clones seized the chance, rushing forward to grab the Boar King’s limbs, while the last clone held onto the club.

“What a pesky brat!” the Boar King growled, forcing out his demon power and shaking his entire body, scattering the clones.

Barely free from the clones, Zhou Yu and Color Monkey’s combination attack struck. The Boar King had nowhere to dodge or avoid. He had no choice but to fully exert his protective demon power and withstand the blow.

“Boom!” A terrifying explosion erupted in the forest, the shockwave toppling massive trees. At the center of the blast was a huge circular crater over ten meters wide.

Zhou Yu and Color Monkey fell to the side, covered in dirt and debris, breathing heavily with pale faces.

At the bottom of the pit lay the Boar King, eyes rolling back, limbs trembling uncontrollably. A tuft of long hair on his head was scorched and spread across his crown.

“Did we succeed?” Zhou Yu murmured.

“Should be,” Color Monkey said, struggling to stand and gazing into the pit.

Back then in the Black Bamboo Forest, during their fierce battle with the Ox King, both had focused their strength into a final clash of fists, causing a massive explosion. After defeating the Ox King, they often practiced this move on the way to Chaos Rock Hill, gradually perfecting it. Though the stance was awkward, the destructive power reached its peak.

“He’s clearly a demon general. How could he…” The Boar King lay there, his protective demon power completely shattered, eyes vacant as he stared at the sky.

Zhou Yu slowly stood, picked up the ox fork, propped himself up, and approached the pit’s edge. Spitting disdainfully into it, he said, “Tch! You got cocky! Soon I’ll roast and eat you!”

“A perfect chance! You’re dead meat!” Suddenly, the Boar King exploded upward from the pit and charged at Zhou Yu. He had been faking death all along.
