Chapter 106: An Extraordinary Colony of Ants!
“Bang!” The mercenary from the Blood Skeleton Mercenary Corps instantly lunged toward the ground, his speed astonishing as he narrowly dodged the sniper bullet.
“Truly formidable—he can sense danger and evade it,” Qin Feng thought with surprise. He could tell the mercenary’s strength was not to be underestimated; such a person was extraordinary, clearly powerful.
“A master. In that case, I’ll have you dodge even more sniper rounds,” Qin Feng decided. His goal wasn’t to hit him but to drive him toward the location of the Crimson Ants.
“Whizz, whizz, whizz!” Qin Feng pulled the trigger in rapid succession. Three sniper bullets shot forward in a spread formation, flying with incredible speed and vanishing in an instant, almost as if they didn’t exist. This method of attack was truly astonishing.
Any expert sniper witnessing this would be amazed—such an unconventional attack, forcing the target to keep dodging, seemingly inching them deeper into a carefully laid trap.
But there was no real trap. If anything, the trap was the Crimson Ant colony itself.
The Blood Skeleton mercenary dodged quickly, evading each bullet one by one. His skill was undeniable; few could maneuver with such flawless precision, but he did.
“Hmph. You’ll never take me down,” the mercenary sneered coldly, disdain flashing in his eyes as he stared toward Qin Feng. He found Qin Feng’s marksmanship laughably poor, always able to predict the bullet’s trajectory and sidestep accurately without taking any damage or being hit.
He believed he could eliminate Qin Feng easily—but he forgot to watch the ground. In his eyes, the real threat was Qin Feng’s sniper rifle, not the earth beneath him.
“Whiz!” Through the scope of his Type 88 sniper rifle, Qin Feng spotted the mercenary edging closer to the Crimson Ant nest. A sly smile curved his lips as he aimed just behind the mercenary and fired decisively.
“Child’s play,” the mercenary muttered in broken Chinese, clearly unable to gauge Qin Feng’s true skill. To him, Qin Feng’s shooting was mere petty trickery—no match for him, incapable of inflicting any serious harm.
With a fierce leap, the mercenary lunged to the side, oblivious to the Crimson Ant colony beneath.
In an instant, he crashed onto the ground, and the ants were enraged. They swarmed fiercely, crawling out in anger and attacking the mercenary, their bodies a vivid crimson as they bit into him relentlessly.
“Ah!” A piercing scream tore from the mercenary’s lips. Qin Feng quickly adjusted his aim and peered through the scope. The Crimson Ants had surrounded the mercenary, climbing over him, biting mercilessly.
Within moments, the mercenary was engulfed in a writhing sea of red ants, their dense mass wrapping around him like a living crimson shroud—an image that sent chills down the spine.
Qin Feng’s scalp tingled with unease. This was terrifying beyond belief.
He had suspected the Crimson Ants were aggressive, but not to this extent. Whenever their safety was threatened, they swarmed in unparalleled fury—their attack was nothing short of nightmarish.
“Ah, it hurts! No, don’t come near… ants, get away!” The mercenary screamed in agony, writhing on the ground, desperate to shake off the relentless ants.
But their numbers were overwhelming—too many to count. For every ant he swatted away, dozens more surged forward. The ants were no small pests; each was nearly the size of an adult’s thumb. From afar, they looked like a flowing river of red, surging over his body, biting and devouring his flesh.
“My flesh… no, my body… damn it, ants, get off! No, it hurts…” The mercenary rolled helplessly, terror-stricken as his flesh was eaten alive.
Now he understood—Qin Feng’s intention had never been to kill him outright but to drive him into the Crimson Ant nest. Qin Feng was far more dangerous than he had imagined; his combat instincts and judgment were exceptional, beyond ordinary comprehension. The mercenary regretted challenging such a man.
Yet, their enmity was deep-rooted; the Blood Skeleton Mercenary Corps and Qin Feng were mortal enemies, locked in a fight to the death. No matter what, he had to keep fighting.
Covered from head to toe with biting ants, the mercenary struggled desperately but found no escape. These Crimson Ants were extraordinary.
“This is truly exceptional, unlike anything ordinary,” Qin Feng murmured through the scope, watching in fascination as the ants feasting on the mercenary swelled in size before retreating to the side, making way for others to swarm forward. The ants took turns tearing and consuming the flesh, a sight both horrifying and mesmerizing. Their social behavior was undeniable—they operated with a complex hierarchy and coordination.
“Ants have some social structure, but this Crimson Ant colony… it’s on an entirely different level. Remarkable,” Qin Feng thought, still observing. Then it struck him—these ants were consuming flesh. “Could they be man-eating ants?”
A cold sweat broke out on Qin Feng’s brow at the thought. Luckily, they hadn’t stepped on the colony earlier, or they’d have been in grave danger.
“This is terrifying,” Qin Feng’s heart raced. The misty forest was far more dangerous than he’d imagined, harboring man-eating ants that required utmost caution if one hoped to survive.
