Chapter Ninety-Nine: The Clever, Perfectly In-Sync Wild Dogs!
The pack of wild dogs immediately let out a chorus of thunderous howls, eager to tear Qin Feng alive and display their ferocious fighting power.
In an instant, a deafening cry rang out. Three wild dogs burst from the pack at once, launching a savage assault on Qin Feng.
They charged with astonishing ferocity. Enraged that Qin Feng had already killed three of their kind, the pack wanted him dead. These three also looked brutally vicious, as though they meant to tear him limb from limb. It was a terrifying sight.
Their momentum was fierce beyond measure, as if they were unleashing their full power to destroy everything in their path. Their one true goal was to kill Qin Feng, and so their attacks were merciless. They ran faster and faster, shifting positions in constant rotation as they moved, their paths elusive and erratic, making them nearly impossible to track.
At the same time, they radiated an appalling aura of savagery. Their limbs were powerful, their speed extraordinary, and they seemed like three bolts of lightning tearing through the forest, leaving trails of afterimages in their wake, as though black shadows were flickering and drifting through the trees.
Wild dogs were creatures with a measure of intelligence, and these three coordinated with remarkable precision. They attacked from three different directions, weaving left and right, forward and back, forming shifting formations that made them look like a truly formidable battle array. Their killing intent was unmistakable; they looked determined not to stop until Qin Feng was shredded to pieces.
“Such seamless coordination,” Qin Feng muttered.
Though he intended to wipe them out, he could not help but admire how well they worked together. They truly deserved to be called intelligent creatures of a sort.
“I have to be careful.”
He warned himself inwardly and unleashed his full combat strength. Even a rabbit would use all its strength when fighting another rabbit; all the more so now, against such vicious enemies, he had to go all out.
Before long, the three wild dogs had rushed to within less than a meter of him. In the next instant, they sprang into the air with snarls, lunging toward him.
The first aimed for his throat, trying to sever it cleanly. Once the throat was torn open, blood would gush out; without blood, the brain would lose its supply of power, and even if he did not die outright, he would be as good as dead.
The second went for his chest, intent on ripping out his organs. It knew the organs supplied the body with blood, energy, and the functions of breathing and life itself. If those were destroyed, the body’s vital systems would collapse, and survival would be nearly impossible.
The third attacked his legs, aiming to knock him flat onto his back. Once Qin Feng fell, it would be difficult for him to mount any strong counterattack or continue fighting them. Then they could tear into him, bite off his arms and legs, and leave him at their mercy. They would bite him however they wished, devour him however they pleased.
From these three attacks alone, it was clear how perfectly the dogs coordinated with one another. They were putting their combat power to its fullest use, intent on utterly destroying Qin Feng. It was a savage assault, a hunting tactic of the wild dog pack.
In that instant, Qin Feng saw the three dogs rushing at him and felt an unprecedented crisis of life and death. It was as if the god of death himself were approaching. But he would not be brought down by wild dogs. He would survive, and he would survive fiercely.
He knew very well that their attack was terrifyingly powerful, so much so that it gave him the illusion of facing a dreadful force beyond imagination. He had to respond with the utmost caution if he wanted any chance of surviving this danger.
Their coordination was flawless, their assault powerful to the extreme. It was an attack that could shake anyone to the core, a truly perilous one.
“Come on then. Let’s see who dies.”
Qin Feng looked at the three wild dogs with calm eyes, gripping his military dagger tightly, ready to fight at any moment. He understood that only by fighting with all his strength would he have any chance of killing the dogs and surviving.
Right now, nothing mattered more to him than staying alive.
In the blink of an eye, the three wild dogs were upon him, so close that they nearly brushed his body. Qin Feng could even smell the foul stench rising from their bloodstained maws.
“Now.”
He knew this was the best moment to strike.
Seizing the opening, he lashed out with his military dagger. Three flashes of silver cut through the air in an instant, three chilling arcs streaking past as the dagger struck each of the three dogs in turn.
With a wet spray of blood, the three wild dogs were hurled through the air in three separate arcs before crashing to the ground. Dust billowed, leaves scattered wildly, and the earth was left in disarray. The scene looked brutally violent, the atmosphere thick with the stench of combat.
The three dogs did not even have time to let out a scream before they were dead. Their eyes bulged wide open, refusing to close, frozen in death with bewilderment still etched across their faces. They could not understand how Qin Feng had moved so quickly, how he had judged their attack with such precision, how he had slit their throats and struck their vital points with such accuracy, or how he could display such extraordinary fighting prowess. It was all too shocking, too impossible, too inconceivable.
But they would never understand now. They were dead. They had no consciousness left, no thoughts left, and therefore no way to know.
“Among all martial arts, speed breaks all defenses. One strike, one kill.”
Qin Feng looked calmly at the three dead dogs. In his view, speed was the ultimate answer; only by being fast enough could one unleash a truly extraordinary attack. And it had to be precise as well. Only then could a blow become truly devastating.
And there was more: a strike had to kill in one hit to fully reveal its extraordinary power. Such an attack was beyond easy to imagine, and it was no simple thing to achieve. Qin Feng had not expected that he would actually accomplish it now. Perhaps it was the pressure of mortal danger that had awakened his fighting spirit.
Though he had taken down the three wild dogs, there was not the slightest trace of joy on his face.
He knew his situation was still extremely dangerous. He was still facing the entire pack, and the dogs were no weak opponents. He had to remain vigilant, had to display overwhelming combat strength if he hoped to battle the pack, wipe them out, and live to return.
Only then would he be able to see Su Yun again.
