Chapter Ninety-Two: In that case, I’ll add a little spice for you!
Zhan Ying said, “Feng, remember this: come to us safely.” Qin Feng nodded. Then Zhan Ying led the others deeper into the jungle, running at a swift pace until they vanished from sight.
Before withdrawing, Qin Feng had discreetly planted three hidden traps in front of the small leader. The man knew nothing of it. Afterward, Qin Feng also retreated and concealed himself in a stretch of jungle about a kilometer away, suppressing all signs of his presence and blending into the surrounding wilderness. He watched his surroundings closely, ready to respond at any moment to any enemy that might appear.
Soon, the enemy force arrived, dense and numerous enough to make the scalp tingle. They shouted and cursed as they searched for their quarry, determined to find and capture them.
You want to take us down? Impossible. You will not succeed.
Qin Feng thought coldly to himself. No matter what, he would never let these men get what they wanted. He felt he could hold them off for a while, and he was also gambling that they would never imagine someone was hiding here.
He removed the sniper round and loaded three incendiary rounds instead. These rounds were terrifyingly powerful, packed with thousands of incendiary particles. Once they struck a target, they would instantly release searing heat and erupt into flame, impossible to extinguish. Anything they touched might catch fire as well.
If hit by one of these rounds, death was all but certain. That was one of the horrors of incendiary ammunition.
At that moment, the pursuers at the front halted and peered ahead carefully. They saw the small leader Qin Feng and the others had captured earlier. Since the man’s mouth had been tied with cloth, he could not speak; he could only make muffled cries. But the enemy did not understand, assuming he was calling for help. They approached warily, never noticing any sign of Qin Feng and the others.
A man who seemed to be their leader stepped forward. He came to the small leader and reached out, intending to untie the cloth around his mouth. The small leader shook his head desperately.
Why are you shaking your head? I’m here to save you. Don’t worry, we’ll get you out, the leader said.
The small leader kept crying out helplessly, his face twisted with pain. He knew this was dangerous, but there was no way to warn them. Even if he did, no one would care. It was truly pathetic.
Now.
Qin Feng aimed his Type 88 sniper rifle at the apparent leader. In an instant, his aura burst forth like a drawn blade, sharp and fierce. Then, without the slightest hesitation, he pulled the trigger.
A round screamed away, carrying Qin Feng’s fury as it howled through the air, seeming to tear through space itself before vanishing toward the front.
The incendiary round struck the man who looked to be the leader. In an instant, thousands of burning particles erupted, and he was consumed by fire at once. He became a living torch, flames surging high as the incendiary charge spread rapidly through his body. The man screamed and ran wildly, slamming into trees, but nothing helped. He rolled on the ground, still to no avail. Those beside him rushed over and beat at him with branches, trying to extinguish the flames, but it was useless. The fire burned far too hot to be put out so easily.
Anyone touched by the blaze was instantly set alight as well, screaming and running in all directions. In a heartbeat, chaos exploded everywhere, the kind of chaos that made one’s skin crawl. Amid the shrieks, no one dared come close.
That was exactly the result Qin Feng wanted. The more chaotic the enemy became, the less attention they would have for pursuing Zhan Ying and the others, and the less they would be able to spare for him.
Strike a man when he is down. Since it was already this chaotic, why not make it even worse?
Qin Feng thought grimly to himself. He felt he could stir up even more disorder, enough to show these people that he was not one to be trifled with. The aura around him was fierce indeed, enough to let them truly understand what real strength felt like.
Come then. I’ll give you a bigger surprise and show you how chaos clings like a shadow.
A sharp glint flashed in Qin Feng’s eyes. He found these people utterly detestable, relentlessly pursuing them and even offering a five-million-dollar bounty for their capture. They were clearly trying to wipe them out alive. How could Qin Feng possibly let them off, or allow them to succeed?
In an instant, he aimed at the spot where he had earlier planted one of the hidden traps. There was a grenade there. His aura erupted once more, giving off an extraordinary and intimidating presence. That grenade had been placed by him earlier, and he had already thought of using it this way. Now it was time to put it to use.
He fired instantly. A round streaked out and struck the grenade, releasing intense heat in an instant, and it exploded at once.
The grenade burst apart with a deafening roar, shards flying in all directions and striking one enemy after another. Cries of agony rose without end as men fell by the dozen.
At once, disorder broke out among the enemy ranks. They felt the hidden foe was truly terrifying and, in their panic, sprayed bullets wildly in every direction. But Qin Feng was too far away for them to see clearly, let alone hit, and their blind fire made it even harder to strike him.
Since that is how it is, I’ll add a little more to the mix.
Qin Feng thought darkly to himself. He could feel the enemy’s attacks growing fierce as well, as though they intended to wipe him out.
He fired again, sending another incendiary round hurtling out. A moment later, another grenade detonated, and more enemies were shredded by the blast, cutting down another swath of men. But the enemy was too numerous. Though some were hit, even more grew furious. They turned toward Qin Feng’s direction, and some began to rush forward at full speed, determined to locate him and take him alive. They would not let him escape.
Come on then. Let’s see who wipes out whom.
Qin Feng took three incendiary rounds from his pack and fired them at once. In an instant, another grenade was struck, and yet another large cluster of enemies went down.
The enemy then launched an extremely violent counterattack. Using the trees for cover, Qin Feng evaded their fire.
After the enemy’s volley subsided, Qin Feng quietly extended his Type 88 sniper rifle from behind the trees and carefully observed the area through the scope. After adjusting his angle, he saw that at the five o’clock direction, several men were surrounding one individual. This person wore no different clothing from the others, but the men had formed a protective ring around him, as though afraid he might be ambushed.
This might be a major figure. Not quite on the level of the third-ranking leader, but not far off.
Qin Feng made his judgment swiftly. He did not use an incendiary round this time; he felt a sniper round would do. One shot, one kill. Quickly, he took a sniper round from his pack, loaded it, and then locked onto that major target.
