Chapter Ninety-One: A Five Million Dollar Bounty!
About half an hour later, Qin Feng emerged quietly, carrying a man over his shoulder. Everyone focused their gaze and realized it was Qin Feng.
"It's Feng! Cover him!" War Hawk exclaimed when he saw Qin Feng coming out. They noticed how quickly Qin Feng had moved—he had already captured an enemy. Judging by the enemy's lavish attire, his status must be quite high, perhaps a minor leader.
"Yes!" everyone responded, and then they all went to meet him. Qin Feng soon joined them, and together, they carried the captive deep into the jungle, hiding him in a secluded spot.
Qin Feng carefully laid the enemy down and tied his hands and feet with thin vines. Then he poured water over him to wake him up. Before long, the enemy regained consciousness.
"Who... who are you?" The captive stared at Qin Feng and the others in astonishment, his eyes filled with panic. To have been brought out so silently, he realized their strength must be formidable.
"Who do you think we are?" Zhang Cheng asked, addressing the captive in Mandarin. The man understood and could speak some Mandarin, which was why they'd chosen him. If they'd captured someone who only spoke his native language, it would have been difficult for Qin Feng and his team to extract any information.
"You're the five we've been hunting. You won't escape; you'll be eliminated. Someone will collect the reward for you," the enemy said nervously, but his eyes flashed with a fierce light. He was convinced Qin Feng and his team were doomed.
"A reward for capturing us?" Qin Feng and his companions exchanged glances. Clearly, there was information here they hadn't uncovered yet—they were gradually piecing it together.
"Yes, it's you. I never expected you'd dare touch our goods, fight us, and kill so many of our people. Many are searching for you in this jungle. You can't escape. There's a bounty of five million dollars on your heads. For five million, our people will hunt you relentlessly. You'll be caught and handed over for the reward," the captive declared, his eyes burning with greed. He seemed to have forgotten he was a prisoner, still thinking about profiting from Qin Feng and his team—even in death, he craved money.
"That doesn't seem like your style. Would your group really offer five million dollars to capture people? Wouldn't you rather use that money for business?" Qin Feng asked, puzzled.
"It doesn't matter if it's our style. That's what the higher-ups said. I'm just a minor leader; that's all I know. Besides, everyone's looking for you now—you won't escape," the small leader laughed, imagining himself already wealthy, as if the five million dollars were already his.
"Slap! Stop daydreaming. You're our prisoner now. Take stock of your situation," Qin Feng said, landing a slap on the leader's face.
The leader covered his face, realizing Qin Feng was right. He was a prisoner now, with no chance at all. His gaze dimmed.
"This situation is odd. It seems our escape will be difficult; we're in for a tough fight," War Hawk remarked thoughtfully, sensing they might have to face formidable enemies.
"Trying to escape? You won't make it. We have two thousand men, and you're only five. No matter what you do, you can't escape. Even if you're strong, you can't stand against so many," the leader boasted, confident in his side's victory.
"Slap! Keep your mouth shut. No one will mistake you for a mute if you say nothing," Qin Feng replied, delivering another slap, swelling the leader's cheek until it looked like a pig's head.
Qin Feng considered the situation carefully, sensing complexity. A five-million-dollar bounty didn't seem like the work of mere armed bandits. It was likely the Blood Skull Mercenary Corps. On further thought, Qin Feng believed this was plausible.
"The Blood Skull Mercenary Corps must be here for me. I need to be careful. No matter what, I won't let them succeed," Qin Feng thought to himself. He knew the Blood Skull Mercenary Corps had formidable combat strength. This time, they had come prepared, clearly intent on eliminating him. He would not let them succeed. He would survive, fight better, and complete the mission.
"Captain, what do we do next?" Black Wolf asked War Hawk, sensing their situation was extremely dangerous. The enemy numbers exceeded two thousand.
"Over two thousand—seems like a lot, but even so, we're not afraid," Snow Leopard said.
"I think there's more to this than meets the eye. There might be things we don't know," Shadow said. As a scout, he was used to gathering intelligence and analyzing situations, and he sensed something unusual.
War Hawk thought for a moment and said, "The enemy has over two thousand men. They clearly want to capture us. No matter what, we can't let them succeed. We've caught a minor leader, but I suspect they'll soon discover it. I propose we withdraw immediately. It's not safe to linger here."
War Hawk believed their situation was dangerous. With so many enemies, they might be captured alive, which would be disastrous.
"Agreed," everyone said. They all supported War Hawk's plan. It was best to retreat now; if the enemy found them, they'd be in grave danger.
"Captain, I think I can stay behind to cover the retreat," Qin Feng said.
"No, that's too dangerous," War Hawk objected, feeling such a move was far too risky and required extreme caution to ensure everyone escaped safely.
"Captain, don't worry. I'm a sniper and can observe over a thousand meters away. No one is better suited to cover the retreat. I run fast, too—you don't need to worry about me keeping up," Qin Feng insisted, pulling out his Type 88 sniper rifle. He felt he could cover the rear and help the team withdraw more effectively.
"Very well, Feng. Be careful. If the enemy approaches, retreat at once. Don't get caught," War Hawk replied, after some thought. He agreed that Qin Feng was the best person for the job. As a sniper, he could see far and cover their escape.
"Captain, don't worry. I'll be fine. Give me one of your grenades. I'll set up booby traps and give the enemy a surprise," Qin Feng said. He wanted to lay traps to show the enemy he was not to be trifled with.
"No problem," War Hawk replied, handing Qin Feng a grenade. The others did the same.
Just then, a commotion rose ahead—the enemy was approaching.
"Captain, withdraw quickly. The enemy is coming," Qin Feng urged.
