Chapter 51: A Set of Combat Techniques!
The giant serpent observed Qin Feng for a while, sensing it would have difficulty swallowing him whole. Yet just as it was about to turn away, it whipped back around and launched a furious attack. It couldn’t eat all of Qin Feng, but it could try to take a piece—food was food, and it had already marked Qin Feng as its prey.
“Come on, let’s see who takes down whom,” Qin Feng muttered, watching the serpent lunge. In a flash, he hurled his military dagger. With a cold gleam, the blade sliced through the air, severing the serpent’s head in one clean stroke, the cut so smooth it seemed as though it had always been destined.
“You wanted a taste? Well, since you’re gone, don’t mind if I do.” Qin Feng smiled faintly, examining the snake and confirming it was indeed edible.
“Tonight, I’ll have a feast. If Su Yun comes by, we can eat together—it’ll be much more enjoyable.” Qin Feng found real happiness in sharing a meal with her.
After stowing the serpent away, he resumed his stealth training. Over an hour later, Qin Feng’s whole body ached; he felt every flavor of endurance—sour, sweet, bitter, and spicy. He wanted desperately to move and ease the discomfort, but grit his teeth and forced himself to remain still. He knew this was part of his stealth training—if he couldn’t endure, all of this would be for nothing.
About three hours in, his blood seemed almost to stagnate; his limbs felt numb and lifeless. Still, he pressed on, teeth clenched, breathing slowly in rhythm with his cultivation technique to aid his recovery. After more than two hours, a wave of vitality surged within him. His entire body felt light and alive, every cell thrumming with energy. The sensation was so mystical and exhilarating he nearly cried out—he felt as though he’d broken through a personal barrier.
He realized that sniper stealth training was extremely effective, especially when combined with repeated practice. With every session, he grew stronger. Drawing a deep breath, he centered himself and carried on.
Four more hours passed before Qin Feng could endure no longer. He felt his sniping and stealth skills had advanced significantly, especially by employing his cultivation technique to recover, allowing him to push his limits and grow stronger.
He was satisfied with his progress, much improved compared to last time. His senses, too, had grown sharper—perhaps a benefit of his cultivation regimen.
A glance at his watch told him it was just past three in the morning. He found a small creek, skinned and cleaned the snake, gathered dry wood, and with his lighter, set a campfire ablaze to begin roasting his prize.
Not long after the aroma of roasting snake filled the air, a shadow darted nimbly to his side. Qin Feng looked up and saw Su Yun. Joy lit his eyes. “Su Yun, you’re just in time! I’ve roasted a snake—it’s ready. Let’s eat together.” He tore off a piece and offered it to her.
“Alright, I’ll give it a try.” Su Yun had already caught the scent and found it enticing. She accepted the roasted snake and tasted it, nodding in approval.
“How is it?” Qin Feng asked as she ate.
“Not bad at all,” Su Yun replied.
Between them, the snake was soon devoured. After resting a while, Su Yun turned to Qin Feng. “Your sniper stealth is impressive, but your hand-to-hand combat could use some work. Let me teach you.”
“Thank you, I’ll remember everything,” Qin Feng said earnestly. He knew this was an opportunity not to be missed.
Su Yun nodded. “What I’m about to teach you is a lethal combat technique, not the standard military boxing. Don’t share it lightly with anyone else, understand?”
“I understand,” Qin Feng replied firmly, taking her caution to heart.
They found an open area sheltered by clouds. Su Yun began by teaching him human anatomy, for only by understanding the body could one strike with lethal efficiency at minimal cost. Inevitably, there was physical contact during the lessons, but Su Yun’s focus was entirely on instructing Qin Feng, and Qin Feng was equally absorbed in his learning. There was no awkwardness between them.
By the time Qin Feng had mastered what Su Yun taught, it was nearly four in the morning. They parted ways, each returning to their own dormitory for rest.
At dawn, the morning bugle sounded. The team assembled for their run; Qin Feng checked the time—it was after six. Today’s training was a cross-country run, each person carrying a heavy pack of more than thirty kilograms. It was devilish training, the load immense.
Though Qin Feng had slept barely two hours, his cultivation technique allowed his strength and spirit to recover more completely, so he rose feeling refreshed and ready.
Three hours later, the cross-country run ended and the group returned to the training field. Qin Feng headed for the shooting range, where Su Yun was already waiting. On seeing Qin Feng, she said, “This morning you’ll continue sniper training. Use as much ammunition as you need. Before lunch, I want you to produce a score that satisfies me. Can you do it?”
“I can!” Qin Feng replied, brimming with confidence, determined to become ever stronger, to become the best.
“Good, begin training,” Su Yun ordered.
“Yes, ma’am.” Qin Feng immediately took position, lying prone with his sniper rifle, chambering a round and beginning his practice, sending shot after shot down range.
Su Yun watched with a satisfied smile, then went to the storeroom for more ammunition. Observing Qin Feng’s technique, she noted clear improvement over previous days—his skills were steadily advancing. If he kept training like this, his sniping would keep improving. She couldn't help but look forward to seeing his performance during the upcoming assessments, hopeful he would outdo himself yet again.
