Chapter Forty-Eight: Enhancing Sniping Skills!
Continuing to press on while the momentum lasted, Qin Feng resumed his stealth training. Time slipped quietly by, and before he realized it, seven hours had passed. He felt his body growing stiff again, recognizing that he had reached another limit. Quickly, he stood up and moved around to get his blood flowing, restoring his energy.
Qin Feng remembered Su Yun’s instructions: in such an extremely still state, haste would only lead to failure. If he kept up this high-intensity training without pause, he might end up injuring himself. He rose slowly, allowing the blood to circulate through his entire body. After feeling somewhat better, he stretched and moved until he was fully recovered. Checking the time, he discovered it was past midnight, almost one in the morning.
By then, he had maintained his sniper’s stealth for eight or nine hours—a decent achievement. He had surpassed his previous limits. With this progress, the next time he trained, he might be able to endure over ten hours. He knew that for expert snipers, lying in wait for more than a dozen hours was common practice; some could even remain hidden in a designated area for three or four days while carrying out a mission, taking care of all their needs right beside them.
Glancing around at the jungle, he began practicing military boxing, pushing his body to its last reserves of strength. Sweat poured from him, each movement full of power and fulfillment.
He picked up his rifle, ready to head back.
Just then, a figure darted forward with agile grace and landed before him. It was none other than Su Yun. She wore an expression of satisfaction as she looked at Qin Feng and spoke, “Qin Feng, tonight’s sniper stealth was impressive. For your first attempt, lasting nine to ten hours is rare—a feat only a handful in the special forces can achieve. Well done, keep it up.”
Her eyes shone with delight, and her tone was encouraging.
“You’re an excellent teacher, Su Yun. I’ve learned a great deal from you,” Qin Feng replied. He knew Su Yun was from a mysterious unit; her training methods and techniques were exceptional and practical, perfect for improving his sniping skills. He kept adopting her methods to steadily advance.
“Are you complimenting me or yourself?” Su Yun laughed, sensing that Qin Feng was clever with words and generous with praise. Pleased, she continued, “Alright, that’s enough for today. Go rest. Tomorrow, we’ll continue practicing marksmanship. Strive to improve your sniping. Understood?”
Su Yun had high hopes for Qin Feng. She could see his great potential and believed he could keep unlocking hidden abilities and grow stronger, perhaps even surpassing her one day.
The thought excited her even more. Perhaps, when that day came, she and Qin Feng could be together—fighting side by side, taking on missions together.
“Yes,” Qin Feng responded crisply, snapping to attention and saluting.
Su Yun returned his salute. As Qin Feng headed back to the dormitory, Su Yun watched him, her eyes filled with pride and expectation. Then, with a few agile leaps, she vanished into the jungle.
The next morning dawned bright and warm. Sunlight poured down, flooding the earth with comfort. For the special forces soldiers of the Xionghu Commando Battalion, a beautiful morning always began with training. Sweat streamed down as they pushed themselves, striving constantly to become stronger.
It was not long before they returned from a weighted cross-country run, their morning exercise. Without pause, they threw themselves into the next round of training.
“Qin Feng, come with me to the shooting range. Today, you’ll be training marksmanship,” Su Yun called to him. She had taken it upon herself to train Qin Feng, determined to hone his abilities in every aspect. She saw immense potential in his shooting skills and was intent on unlocking it, pushing him to become a true sniper.
Qin Feng nodded, recognizing that sniper training awaited him. The more he trained, the deeper his understanding of snipers became. He knew that on the battlefield, a sniper played a critical role—controlling the situation and eliminating targets within sight.
With advanced skills, a sniper could provide real-time enemy intelligence and pick off adversaries at will, offering vital cover for comrades. They could even eliminate enemy commanders, crippling the enemy’s command system. The importance of a sniper could not be overstated. Determined to become a top-tier sniper, Qin Feng knew this was the path to real strength and greater impact on future missions.
He stood up and said to Su Yun, “Today, I’ll push myself to an even higher level.”
“Good. I believe in you,” Su Yun replied. She always had faith in Qin Feng’s potential. Progress, even if gradual, would accumulate over time into something transformative; quantitative change would eventually lead to qualitative leaps, and when that happened, he would be truly formidable.
Arriving at the sniper training range, Su Yun turned to Qin Feng and said, “From now on, you’ll be training at the one-thousand-meter mark. The difficulty is increased. You don’t need to worry about anything else; there’s plenty of ammunition. Focus on your training. Before lunch, I want a result that satisfies me.”
Su Yun was strict with her demands—only this way could Qin Feng keep improving.
“I’ll do my best,” Qin Feng replied.
“Not your best—you must succeed. Understood?” Su Yun’s tone was cold, leaving no room for argument as she fixed him with a stern gaze.
“Yes, ma’am!” Qin Feng straightened his back, answering with resolve. He fetched a sniper rifle from the armory, took his position, lay prone with the rifle steady, loaded a round, and began aiming and shooting with swift precision.
Su Yun smiled in satisfaction. She turned to the armory, collected several boxes of sniper rounds, and placed them beside Qin Feng. Taking out her binoculars, she watched his technique closely. His form was nearly flawless, and most of his shots struck the ten ring, or scored between 9.9 and 9.7. Su Yun could see his sniping skills steadily improving, reinforcing her determination and confidence to keep training him.
“At this rate, in three or four more days, he might be able to score a perfect hundred,” Su Yun thought to herself.
