Chapter Forty-Six: Full of Potential!
Bang! Bang! Bang! Qin Feng continued to fire rapidly, each shot following the last by no more than three seconds. Su Yun calmly kept count. As Qin Feng gradually finished off his ten rounds, the surprise in Su Yun’s eyes grew deeper, and by the end, she was nearly shaken.
“It seems his sniping skills have improved quite a bit,” Su Yun thought to herself.
Very soon, all ten bullets had been fired. Su Yun watched Qin Feng with increasing astonishment. When the tenth shot rang out, she couldn’t help but voice her amazement. “Ten rounds, ninety-seven points.”
“Not bad at all,” Su Yun mused silently. She thought to herself that, as expected from someone who had grown up in the wilderness, his marksmanship was exceptional.
But Qin Feng didn’t see it that way. He hadn’t hit the perfect hundred, and he was dissatisfied. He felt that only by achieving a perfect score could he truly hone his shooting skills. Lowering the muzzle, he slowly stood up, head bowed, not noticing Su Yun’s expression.
“Why are you looking down?” Su Yun noticed his unusual demeanor and found it odd. Could it be that he wasn’t satisfied with his performance? She thought it quite possible.
“Reporting, Instructor. My shooting wasn’t good enough; I failed to hit a perfect hundred. I dare not show my face,” Qin Feng said seriously. “If I had five more days, perhaps I could do better. Maybe I could achieve a hundred.”
Su Yun smiled at his earnestness. “Qin Feng, don’t you want to see who I am? I think you can recognize me from my voice.”
She could sense the seriousness in Qin Feng, his unwavering focus—such dedication would only sharpen his skills.
“Huh? Could it be… Su Yun?” Qin Feng slowly lifted his head. The voice had sounded familiar, and now he was almost certain. Looking up carefully, he saw that it was indeed Su Yun. Joy spread across his face. “Su Yun, is it really you?”
Qin Feng was overjoyed. “Su Yun, I thought I wouldn’t see you for another three years! How did you come here? Are you the instructor here? No, wait, you’re with the special forces—are you here on some other mission?”
“Just focus on your own training. Don’t worry about anything else. Don’t let me down—I have high hopes for you,” Su Yun replied, her expression returning to its usual coolness. This was the shooting range, after all; she didn’t want anyone to notice anything unusual.
“I understand, Su Yun. How did I do just now?” Qin Feng asked.
“It was all right, but you must keep training. Strive for a perfect hundred. Keep improving, understood?” Su Yun answered.
“I understand, Su Yun. I’ll keep training, and I’ll keep getting better,” Qin Feng replied.
“Good. Now, go eat,” Su Yun instructed. She could sense Qin Feng’s growing strength—he was someone who constantly pushed himself to improve.
“Understood.” Qin Feng snapped his heels together and saluted before heading toward the mess hall.
“I won’t let you down. Never,” he muttered determinedly as he walked, his eyes resolute.
Su Yun paused for a moment, but kept walking. A gentle smile appeared on her face—unseen by Qin Feng. Discovering that the female instructor was Su Yun had lifted his spirits. Combining his gun practice with her unexpected presence, he gained some understanding of her purpose here and his resolve only deepened.
“Instructor, have you identified anyone with sniping potential?” After Qin Feng had left for the mess hall, the squad leader approached Su Yun with a smile. From their exchange, he had gleaned some things, though he wasn’t entirely certain.
He sensed that Qin Feng liked Su Yun, and perhaps Su Yun liked him as well. For now, it was just an observation, and only time would tell. His sister was known as an ice beauty in the capital, pursued by many, yet he hadn’t expected her to show interest in Qin Feng. It surprised him, though he thought Qin Feng had potential. If he kept improving, who knew what might happen?
But for now, he set those thoughts aside. More time would reveal the truth.
“I’ve found him. It’s Qin Feng. From now on, I’ll be in charge of his training. What do you think?” Su Yun said.
“No problem. As long as you can train a top sniper, you can teach however you like,” the squad leader replied. He trusted his sister—she was from the special forces, an excellent sniper herself. With her guidance, he had no worries.
“Good, then it’s settled,” the squad leader said.
“Instructor, you truly have an eye for talent. I look forward to seeing you train a top sniper,” he added.
“Don’t worry,” Su Yun replied, giving him a reassuring look.
“But I’m still not sure—tell me, just how much potential does he have?” the squad leader asked. He felt Qin Feng had promise, but didn’t know just how far he could go as a sniper.
“You don’t trust your own sister? I’m certain—he can become a top sniper. He might even surpass the current King of Snipers in your Tiger Special Operations Unit,” Su Yun replied with a hint of annoyance, but she was confident. She knew Qin Feng’s potential and believed she could continually improve his marksmanship.
“I believe you, but tell me your reasoning,” the squad leader said.
“Take aim, for example. For a rookie in the special forces, scoring eighty-five out of a hundred at six hundred meters is considered passing. Qin Feng just scored ninety-seven, at a thousand meters. That means, in terms of sniping potential, he’s ahead of ninety-seven percent of special forces soldiers—maybe even more. Many elite troops couldn’t match his skill. Given time, surpassing the King of Snipers is not out of the question,” Su Yun analyzed. She felt Qin Feng’s shooting ability was exceptionally strong, and with the right training, he could reach great heights.
“Ninety-seven? That good? That’s not just ninety-seven percent—maybe ninety-nine, even higher. Better than the King of Snipers’ own first score. He told me himself—his first time, he scored ninety-three,” the squad leader said, astonished. He realized that with proper cultivation, Qin Feng might truly surpass the King of Snipers. If that happened, their unit might even win a national special forces competition.
“Exactly. So, do you think he’s worth training?” Su Yun asked.
“Definitely. Come on, let’s eat. From now on, train him well—make him as skilled as you are,” the squad leader said, smiling with satisfaction. Su Yun nodded, and together they headed to the mess hall.
