Chapter Forty-One: So It Was Him!
"Perfect timing. I'll eliminate them all at once," Qin Feng's lips curved into a faint smile. He swiftly took aim at one of the five soldiers, and without hesitation, pulled the trigger. "Bang!" A crisp gunshot rang out, and in an instant, one soldier was "killed," eliminated so quickly that he hadn't even had time to react.
"What just happened?" The remaining four soldiers immediately concealed themselves, each hiding behind dense trees, bushes, mounds of earth, or other cover. Their plan had been to seize the opportunity to eliminate unsuspecting opponents, but before they could act, Qin Feng had already taken one of them down. It was a testament to his formidable combat prowess.
"Who is that man? How does he have such exceptional night vision?" The four soldiers hidden in the jungle exchanged bewildered glances. They weren't fools; anyone who could participate in the special forces selection exam had a sharp mind, and some possessed extraordinary skills. They quickly deduced that Qin Feng's night vision was exceptionally strong; otherwise, he wouldn't have spotted them from such a distance.
They remained motionless, not daring to step out. It was no joke—he was a sniper, deeply concealed. On the battlefield, a silent sniper is the most terrifying presence; you never know when they will strike.
"I need to change my angle to eliminate them all," Qin Feng surveyed his surroundings carefully, making sure the area was safe and confirming that no one else could "snipe" him. He sprang up, grabbed his Type 88 sniper rifle, and dashed forward at astonishing speed, leaving fleeting shadows in the jungle.
His previous position had left the four soldiers and the other five completely within his sniper blind spot, and their hiding places were excellent. If he didn't change his position, it would be difficult to "snipe" these nine soldiers.
But by moving, he would bring them into his line of sight, allowing him to target and "eliminate" them more effectively.
"They're deeply hidden, but I can change positions too," Qin Feng muttered, quickly seeking a direction and looking for a vantage point.
Meanwhile, the soldiers in both directions dared not make a move, fearing that any careless action might expose them to Qin Feng's deadly aim. They knew that the concealed sniper was an expert whose marksmanship was astonishingly precise—one shot, one hit, leaving them nowhere to hide.
"This is the spot." Qin Feng soon found a suitable sniper position. He concealed himself thoroughly, ensured that no one could detect him, then raised his sniper rifle, extended the barrel, and began scanning through the scope. He saw the soldiers hidden among the foliage, quickly aimed at one, and without hesitation, pulled the trigger.
"Bang!" The sniper bullet fired, a puff of white smoke rose, and a soldier was eliminated.
"Bang! Bang! Bang!" Three more shots followed in quick succession, and three more soldiers were taken out. The remaining five were thrown into panic, realizing just how overwhelming Qin Feng's strength was. They scrambled for better cover, even more afraid to move.
In the satellite monitoring room of the Tiger Special Operations Battalion.
The captain, the lieutenant, and the soldier responsible for monitoring Qin Feng watched the scene unfold clearly on the screens. Though Qin Feng was only a sergeant, he was far from ordinary. Perhaps he had undergone specialized military training, or someone had taught him marksmanship.
"Number 59, his marksmanship is impressive," the soldier remarked, admiring Qin Feng. He noted Qin Feng's exceptional jungle survival skills, and now, his marksmanship appeared outstanding as well—a true sniper expert. He sensed that Qin Feng was no ordinary man.
"Indeed, his shooting is almost on par with mine, and I'm an elite special forces operative," the lieutenant commented, observing Qin Feng's precision. With proper training, his sniping skills would improve rapidly—a soldier of tremendous potential.
"Yes, this kid is promising. Survival skills are strong, marksmanship is solid. If he passes the jungle survival selection, he'll become a special forces soldier. Then, with further cultivation, his potential can be fully unleashed," the captain said, his eyes filled with admiration. He felt Qin Feng was one of the most outstanding soldiers he had ever encountered.
"Lieutenant, bring me his personnel file," the captain requested, thinking it worthwhile to learn more about Qin Feng.
"Yes, sir," the lieutenant nodded, then headed to the archives. Every candidate for the Tiger Special Forces selection had their information recorded—except for classified or special cases, all files were accessible.
Soon, the lieutenant retrieved Zhang Cheng's file.
However, when the captain and lieutenant reviewed Qin Feng's file, confusion flickered in their eyes. The file appeared utterly ordinary—nothing more than a border patrol soldier, with no remarkable attributes.
"Huh? He’s from the border patrol? Just a border soldier?" the captain murmured, his mind turning over the details. He glanced at the name field in the file and found it was Qin Feng, recommended by the border patrol, recently participating in the Tiger Special Operations Battalion selection. The timeline was short.
"Qin Feng? Why does that name sound familiar?" the captain mused aloud, feeling an increasing sense of recognition. As he pondered, Qin Feng's image fused with that of someone in his memory. His eyes brightened with realization, the sense of familiarity finally clicking. "So it's him."
"Who is he?" the lieutenant asked.
"A few days ago, I went to the border region to receive a combat report from a soldier—Qin Feng. I knew his face seemed familiar. He fought alongside Su Yun to repel the enemy, ultimately defeating them and defending our nation's honor," the captain replied, recalling who Qin Feng was. He had indeed met him before. No wonder Qin Feng seemed so familiar—the young man's marksmanship was excellent. Back then, he faced a formidable mercenary group, and through sheer conviction, he overcame them. The captain sensed enormous potential in Qin Feng, and now it was being confirmed. He believed Zhang Cheng was highly likely to pass the jungle test and become a special forces soldier.
