The breeze swept through the area, causing the mist in the Fog Forest to drift even faster. An immense sense of danger was gathering in the air, making everyone feel deeply threatened. One by one, the man-eating ants hurried away, apparently having caught the pungent scent of the wild ginger on Qin Feng and the others. They did not come any closer.

“Whew!” Qin Feng and the others breathed a sigh of relief. The man-eating ants truly seemed to fear the smell of wild ginger. It was so pungent that they refused to approach.

“These man-eating ants are extremely sensitive to the smell of wild ginger. They haven’t come over,” Black Wolf said. Since the ants had kept their distance, they were safe for the moment.

“Thank goodness they didn’t come over,” Snow Leopard said gratefully. If that swarm of man-eating ants had crawled toward them, they would have been in terrible danger.

“Peak’s method worked well. Using wild ginger to deal with the man-eating ants—who would have thought they had something they feared? They aren’t able to attack every creature without hesitation,” Flying Shadow said. He felt that Qin Feng’s plan had been excellent. Thanks to it, they had successfully avoided the ants.

“From now on, I think we should all listen to Peak. His ideas are simply too good,” Warhawk said, looking at Qin Feng. He often admired Qin Feng, who could somehow come up with such ingenious solutions.

“Sometimes I just think a little more than the others,” Qin Feng said.

He then glanced at his electronic device and carefully calculated the time, trying to determine when the opportunity to attack would arise. Afterward, he looked behind them and saw that the jungle was completely shrouded in white mist. The mist was drifting much faster than before, as though it might surge out of the Fog Forest at any moment.

Qin Feng decided that they needed to launch their attack at the instant the mist from the Fog Forest spilled beyond its boundary. Only then could their diversionary tactic truly work.

“We’ll continue moving toward the edge of the jungle. The moment the mist drifts out of the Fog Forest, we’ll launch our attack. When the time comes, we’ll fight our way out,” Qin Feng said. A sharp gleam flashed in his eyes, and his expression was resolute. He knew they had to withdraw. Only by truly breaking out could they remain safe and make their way back.

“Understood,” Warhawk and the others replied.

They knew that if they wanted to escape successfully, they had to follow Qin Feng’s lead. A powerful aura was surging from him now—a battle aura. With Qin Feng guiding them, their chances of breaking through would be much greater.

Qin Feng and the others advanced slowly. Man-eating ants surrounded them on every side, forming a sea of crimson so dense that it made their scalps tingle. Fortunately, Qin Feng and his companions had smeared wild ginger over their bodies. Its pungent scent kept the ants from approaching, allowing them to move safely toward the edge of the Fog Forest.

They moved with extreme caution and gradually reached the forest’s edge. Outside the Fog Forest, the area was overgrown with bushes, while the enemy soldiers stood scattered throughout the area—an outpost every few paces and a guard post every dozen. They were densely arranged around the forest, maintaining a tight perimeter. Some of them also patrolled the area from time to time. If Qin Feng’s group launched an attack recklessly, it would draw a large number of enemies, placing them in extreme danger.

Qin Feng quietly raised his Type 88 sniper rifle and carefully observed the area through its scope. He immediately saw that there were many enemies. Although it was the middle of the night, a considerable number of soldiers still surrounded the forest. It appeared that they were guarding the area around the clock, ready to attack the moment they discovered Qin Feng and the others.

“Looks like this will be dangerous. Breaking out won’t be easy,” Qin Feng quickly concluded. Their situation was far from favorable. Fortunately, there was mist within the Fog Forest, and the wind had begun to rise. The mist was drifting straight toward the outside of the forest, giving them an excellent opportunity to break through.

After examining the locations where the land mines had been planted, Qin Feng discovered that they were within the firing range of his Type 88 sniper rifle. He could open fire with the rifle and trigger a major disturbance. Then they could create chaos in the southeast, draw the enemy’s attention there, and break out in that direction.

Warhawk and the others waited patiently without disturbing Qin Feng. They knew he was waiting for the right opportunity to lead them out.

“The mist in the Fog Forest is about to drift out. Get ready. The moment I fire and trigger the land mines, we’ll break through,” Qin Feng said.

His eyes gleamed brightly. He had noticed that the mist was moving much faster now and seemed on the verge of surging out of the forest. Once it spilled beyond the forest’s edge, it would be their chance to attack.

“Understood,” everyone replied in unison.

They prepared themselves and focused every ounce of their attention. They knew the real battle was about to begin, and that they were about to make their escape. They believed they could break through successfully. Once they did, they would be able to leave this place safely.

They had been trapped there for far too long. If they failed to escape this time, they would face tremendous danger.

Qin Feng raised his Type 88 sniper rifle and carefully aimed at the area where the land mines had been planted. He was about to fire when he suddenly felt a small stone beneath his foot. A thought flashed through his mind, and he lowered the rifle.

“Wait,” Qin Feng said to the others.

“What is it?” Warhawk asked. He did not understand why Qin Feng had suddenly told them to delay the attack. Had Qin Feng thought of a better plan?

“I want to see whether we can make these man-eating ants move faster. I don’t know whether they can help us,” Qin Feng said with a faint smile at the corner of his mouth.

He had just thought of an idea, though he did not know whether it would work. Still, he felt it was worth trying. The results would soon tell them everything.

“Peak, have you gone mad? Those are man-eating ants! If you anger them, they’ll eat people. This is insane,” Black Wolf said, his voice filled with concern. Qin Feng’s idea seemed utterly reckless to him. If the ants attacked them, not even their bones would remain.

“I think Peak is trying to find a way to solve our predicament, even if I don’t quite understand it,” Flying Shadow said. He could tell that Qin Feng was searching for a way to break through.

“Throwing a stone might anger the man-eating ants, but they won’t attack us. They’ll only move faster and crawl toward the outside of the Fog Forest. The people they attack may be the enemy,” Snow Leopard said, his eyes lighting up with excitement.

Qin Feng’s thoughts truly were extraordinary. His mind seemed to roam freely, yet he could often devise ingenious solutions to seemingly impossible problems.

“Exactly. That’s my idea. Now we’ll see whether it works,” Qin Feng said.

He lightly weighed the small stone in his hand. It was several ounces and had a fair amount of heft. Then he raised it and hurled it forcefully toward the front.

The stone struck a bush on the ground. Startled, the man-eating ants began crawling rapidly, like countless crimson lines. As they surged forward, they produced a terrifying rustling sound, adding an even more ominous atmosphere to the Fog Forest.

There were countless ants in the swarm, far too many to number. They all began crawling toward the outside of the Fog Forest. With the mist inside the forest drifting rapidly as well, even more man-eating ants surged outward.
