Chapter 116: Qin Feng's Devised Solution!
Time passed swiftly, and night had fallen.
At this moment, a gust of wind stirred the mist drifting through the foggy forest. The previously tranquil fog suddenly became restless. As the mist swirled, a commotion arose within the jungle. This fog was poisonous, causing many wild beasts to flee in panic. Birds and animals flapped their wings frantically, swiftly escaping the area.
Immediately, a perilous aura surged through the entire forest.
Qin Feng and the others were jolted awake by the forest’s sudden unrest. One by one, they climbed down from their resting trees to the ground.
“What’s going on?” the Snow Leopard asked, eyeing the swirling fog. He sensed that the situation was grave.
“It’s the mist in the foggy forest moving about; many wild animals are fleeing,” Fei Ying answered.
“Looks like things are getting worse here. This jungle is becoming increasingly dangerous,” War Hawk remarked, feeling the peril that now surrounded them.
“Then why are we still here? We should get out quickly. Staying longer could cost us our lives,” Black Wolf said grimly. He knew the fog was toxic; if they lingered, they might all succumb to its poison.
Black Wolf scanned the surroundings. The fog drifted through the forest, with leaves turning yellow and falling wherever the mist passed—testament to the forest’s deadly nature. It seemed as if the fog was devouring all life, erasing everything in its path.
Some beasts ran, but those slower ones were engulfed by the mist, struggling briefly before succumbing. The survivors quickened their pace.
Birds caught in the airborne fog fell like rain, spreading an aura of death throughout. It was as if the mist itself were the Grim Reaper, relentlessly harvesting the lives within this forest.
Witnessing this, War Hawk and the others’ faces shifted with alarm—they all felt the grave danger.
Only Qin Feng remained calm, his eyes thoughtful. He was pondering a solution. Though danger loomed, this was also the moment to resolve the crisis.
“Fengzi, this fog in the forest is poisonous. If we stay, it’s a death sentence. But if we leave, we face over two thousand enemies, which could also mean death. No matter which path we take, it seems doomed. How do you think we should escape this predicament?” War Hawk asked, looking to Qin Feng. He admired Qin Feng’s sharp problem-solving skills and clear thinking—often imaginative and able to perceive issues others overlooked, devising solutions others never considered.
Qin Feng showed no hint of panic. His gaze was steady as he continued to think. Suddenly, his eyes brightened—he seemed to have found an idea. He pointed toward the drifting fog and said, “Look, the wind has risen. Which direction is the fog moving?”
“Moving toward that direction? What do you mean?” Fei Ying was puzzled; he didn’t understand the significance of the fog’s movement.
“Exactly, Fengzi, what are you getting at?” War Hawk also asked, confused. Their situation was dire, and Qin Feng’s remark seemed unrelated. Could it be connected to their escape plan?
“See, the wind is blowing southeast, and the fog drifts northwest, right?” Qin Feng replied thoughtfully.
“That’s right, it’s a southeast wind, Fengzi. Could this really relate to our breakout?” Snow Leopard looked at Qin Feng, sensing that his thinking was sharp and that he might have conceived a feasible plan during this critical moment, though he couldn’t yet grasp what it was.
“Fengzi, tell us—how do we break out?” War Hawk urged, sensing that Qin Feng had a plan. He appreciated how Qin Feng often found solutions others missed.
“I think we can use the fog to our advantage to escape,” Qin Feng said. He had been contemplating this as the wind stirred the mist. He had formulated a rough idea, which he was now refining.
“This plan could work,” Qin Feng thought to himself, constantly analyzing. He believed using this method would allow them to break through. Only after breaking out could they leave safely and return unharmed.
“But this fog is poisonous. If we enter it, we risk our lives. How can we use this fog to escape?” Black Wolf looked at the swirling mist above the forest, troubled. The fog was toxic—how could they possibly exploit it?
“True, the fog is poisonous, but we can still use it,” Qin Feng explained. “The southeast wind pushes the fog toward the northwest. We can cover our noses and mouths with wet cloths to prevent the poison from entering our bodies. Then, following the fog’s direction, we can employ a feint—plant grenades in the southeast to draw enemy attention, while we break out from the northwest.”
“There’s so much fog in the forest; it will be hard for the enemy to see us. That way, we can make a better escape,” Qin Feng laid out his plan. He envisioned a diversion tactic, which, if executed properly, might really allow them to break free.
He had been waiting for the right moment and considering how to escape. Now, he felt the opportunity had come. If they seized it, they could succeed.
The battlefield is ever-changing. Only by grasping these shifts and adapting accordingly can one turn the tide, fight effectively, eliminate enemies, preserve oneself, and ultimately win.
“A feint?” Everyone looked at Qin Feng, puzzled. It seemed easier said than done.
“Fengzi, how do we carry out this feint? Who will plant the grenades? And how do we detonate them?” Black Wolf asked. As the demolitions expert, he was familiar with laying mines and detonating grenades remotely, but they had few grenades left. How could they possibly break through?
“I’ll handle planting the grenades. Don’t forget, I’m a sniper—I can use my rifle to detonate them from a distance, drawing enemy fire,” Qin Feng said. “Then, we’ll concentrate our forces toward the northwest, following the fog’s movement to break out.”
Qin Feng had thought this through. He knew where to place the grenades and how to detonate them with his sniper rifle. After that, the team would focus their fire, making a concentrated push toward the enemy’s northwest flank. He was confident this would enable their escape.
