Chapter 65: Lu Yuanqiu Again! Honor Has Gone Mad! [Third Update]
Su Xiaoya was just about to return to her seat when Liu Wei suddenly called out, "Lu Yuanqiu's mother, please wait."
Su Xiaoya turned around to see Liu Wei holding up another small red flower in front of everyone.
Liu Wei announced, "The student who made the most progress in Chinese: Lu Yuanqiu, 75 points."
Su Xiaoya was stunned.
The score actually started with a 7?!
She was used to hearing numbers starting with 2, so this was a real shock.
And she wasn’t the only one; even the students outside the classroom were surprised.
Even Lu Yuanqiu himself was slightly taken aback.
With a look of disbelief, Liu Wei continued, "Honestly, I never expected it. For Lu Yuanqiu's Chinese exam, he only got 20 points from the classical Chinese passage dictation and a few multiple-choice questions at the beginning. But his Chinese essay only lost five points!"
As she spoke, Liu Wei even glanced out the window at Lu Yuanqiu in astonishment.
The students all turned to look at him too.
Lu Yuanqiu shrugged. "No need to pretend anymore—I'm laying my cards on the table! I've always known my essays are unbeatable."
Liu Wei said, "I read his Chinese essay. It had both beautiful language and depth of content. It's completely different from the impression he left on me before. In short, he's made tremendous progress—so much so that I’m amazed."
With that, she pinned the small red flower to Su Xiaoya’s chest.
The parents all applauded.
After all, it was her own son who had received such an honor. Su Xiaoya was so excited that her face flushed red.
"Thank you, thank you everyone!"
Wait a minute, Old Lu clearly said this parents’ meeting would be embarrassing.
But this isn’t embarrassing at all!
Outside the window, Lu Yuanqiu couldn’t help but let a smile slip.
Just as Su Xiaoya was about to return to her seat, the English teacher, Su Miaomiao, suddenly spoke at the door: "Lu Yuanqiu’s mother, please wait!"
The goddess with the elegant black stockings seemed to value Lu Yuanqiu even more than Liu Wei did.
Su Xiaoya withdrew her half-stepped foot.
Su Miaomiao walked up to the podium with a smile and announced, "First place in English for Class 28: Bai Qingxia, 142 points."
After speaking, she immediately took a small red flower from the box and pinned it to Su Xiaoya’s chest.
…Xiaxia’s grades are really that good?
Su Xiaoya stared in shock at the two red flowers, each representing a score above 140 in different subjects.
She smiled back at the applause from the other parents. Even though Bai Qingxia wasn’t her daughter-in-law yet, she already felt a sense of pride.
Just as she was about to return to her seat again, Su Miaomiao quickly raised her hand and called out, "Lu Yuanqiu’s mother, please stay once more!"
At that moment, Su Xiaoya froze.
No way…
No way…
Lu Yuanqiu, you…
She silently turned to look out the window at her son, only to see his lips curled up in a grin.
Huh?
Su Xiaoya looked back at Su Miaomiao, who, visibly excited, declared, "The student who made the most progress in English, and also ranked second in class: Lu Yuanqiu! 140 points in English! Oh my God!"
Without hesitation, she took another small red flower and pinned it to Su Xiaoya’s chest.
Still not quite registering, Su Xiaoya asked again, "How much?"
"140! Perfect score in listening, full marks in the essay!"
After Su Miaomiao finished, she led the applause.
"Clap, clap, clap~"
Outside the classroom, Zheng Yifeng was also smiling, clapping lazily, while others turned to look at Lu Yuanqiu.
Lu Yuanqiu:
Hu Caiwei’s eyes were wide with shock.
A perfect score in listening…
And a perfect essay, too??
What on earth did he do last vacation?!
Did he devour a few native English speakers?
Ignoring Zhong Jincheng’s gnashing frustration beside him, Lu Yuanqiu looked into the classroom and saw the two women with the surname Su giving him enthusiastic thumbs-up, both more excited than the other.
Next, the teachers for math, physics, chemistry, and biology came into the class one after another. Bai Qingxia collected three more first-place red flowers.
Lu Yuanqiu, unexpectedly, received two more red flowers for greatest improvement.
From math and physics.
Although he didn’t score above 60 in either subject, the teachers’ reason for praising him was:
A student who used to hand in blank math and physics exams had, this time, written answers to every question, with actual problem-solving approaches in the long questions—even if all the steps were wrong.
That’s worth encouragement!
That’s worth praise!
Poor students have the most room for improvement. If you fall far enough, you’re bound to bounce back.
When the parents’ meeting ended, Su Xiaoya left the classroom with a flushed, glowing face.
Lu Yuanqiu:
"How amazing! I feel fantastic!"
Su Xiaoya walked up to her son and gave him a solid punch on the chest.
"If your dad finds out how much attention I got today, he’ll be beside himself."
"All the embarrassment before fell on him, but now that you’ve risen up, I get to enjoy the one and only glorious moment!"
Lu Yuanqiu:
He slowly let his smile relax and replied, "Sigh, poor Dad. I don’t really have any particularly stinky shoes, but I do have a lot of shoes—enough for him to have a buffet."
Su Xiaoya asked, "What do you mean?"
She had no idea about the little bet between father and son.
"By the way, your score slip—I haven’t looked at it yet."
Lu Yuanqiu took the slip of paper from his mother, glanced at it, and read, "Total score: 365, 32nd in class, 935th in grade."
He smiled. Thirty-second in class—he’d surpassed the goal he and his father agreed upon.
This result would also satisfy his three uncles.
Lu Yuanqiu said, "Let’s go find Bai Qingxia now."
"Yes, yes, let’s find Xiaxia. I’m still covered in her flowers," Su Xiaoya replied eagerly.
She had a total of nine little red flowers pinned to her, making her look dazzling.
Lu Yuanqiu roughly remembered where Bai Qingxia usually went—he’d stumbled upon her there once before in his previous life.
The rooftop.
Back in his second year of high school, Lu Yuanqiu and Zhong Jincheng had been messing around on the rooftop when Zhong Jincheng pointed behind him. Turning around, Lu Yuanqiu saw his classmate Bai Qingxia sitting quietly against the wall, reading a book.
When she noticed the two boys, Bai Qingxia simply stood up with a calm expression, took her book, and went downstairs.
Lu Yuanqiu and Zhong Jincheng didn’t think much of the encounter and went on playing.
Now, carrying a big bag of snacks, he and Su Xiaoya headed up to the rooftop, though Lu Yuanqiu wasn’t sure she would be there this time.
He led his mother around to the far side of the small attic, and sure enough, there was a girl in a blue-and-white school uniform sitting against the wall, her small figure in the shadows, diligently copying something.
Su Xiaoya exchanged a silent glance with her son.
Lu Yuanqiu called out, "Bai Qingxia!"
The girl immediately looked up. When she saw it was Lu Yuanqiu, she smiled in surprise, but upon noticing the unfamiliar woman beside him, her smile faded and she became reserved.
Bai Qingxia quickly closed her notebook and stood up in the shadowed corner, quietly watching the mother and son standing in the sunlight.
She didn’t dare approach.
