Chapter 121: The Sunken Ten Ships [Second Update]
With a single sword strike, Shu Mingyuan, wielding the Thunder God's Sword, stood poised midair. The overwhelming power radiating from him left everyone watching the screen utterly stunned.
Rain of Shirou, having witnessed that very sword strike, looked on solemnly. The might behind that blow had already surpassed that of an ordinary swordmaster. Though still far from the level of a Grand Swordmaster, it had nonetheless exerted considerable pressure on him. A single sword could sever a ship, or even a sea—he could do the same, perhaps more effortlessly than Shu Mingyuan.
Yet, this young upstart’s progress was astonishingly rapid. Only a Grand Swordmaster could discern the true essence of Shu Mingyuan’s strike—a fusion of his own strength with a peculiar energy, resonating harmoniously with his blade. It was, in essence, a state of perfect unity between man and sword, mastering the breath of all things to deliver that singular cut.
Once one comprehends the breath of all things, a swordsman’s path in the way of the sword stretches ever farther. It is no exaggeration to say that his strength was advancing by leaps and bounds.
The warship was cleaved in two by a single stroke, many naval soldiers aboard instantly obliterated. The surging seawater flooded the hull, and the vessel began to slowly sink. The surviving naval personnel, including the sole naval rear admiral on board, swiftly lowered lifeboats and jumped ship, fearing the massive whirlpool that would form as the warship sank.
“Damn it! How dare you cut down my warship! Unforgivable!” the rear admiral roared, forcefully hurling a wooden plank aside. With a firm step onto a small boat, he lunged fiercely at Shu Mingyuan.
“Finger Gun!” Shu Mingyuan responded immediately, sheathing his sword. With a backhand flourish, he extended a finger, precisely meeting the admiral’s Finger Gun attack.
In that instant, Shu Mingyuan’s finger was cloaked in a jet-black armament haki. A bone-cracking sound echoed as the admiral’s finger snapped. Gritting his teeth, the admiral clenched his fist, striking heavily once more. Shu Mingyuan twisted his wrist, his fingers curling into claws, grasping the admiral’s wrist and hurling him away with brutal force.
“Wait here,” Shu Mingyuan sneered disdainfully. “I don’t have time to toy with you. The real show is just beginning. I haven’t even boarded a ship—what right do you have to stay on one?”
He strode past the stunned admiral and began sprinting across the sea surface toward the next warship.
The admiral steadied himself on the floating plank he had thrown earlier, watching Shu Mingyuan run across the water as if on solid ground, realizing he stood no chance of stopping him.
As the first warship sank beneath the waves, desperate screams echoed from trapped naval soldiers. Beneath the depths lurked a massive shadow, the Death Phantom of the Offshore—the undisputed king of these waters. It had once bitten off the arm of the Red-Haired Emperor, Shanks, its crushing bite destined to be the nightmare of any sailor cast into the sea.
The second warship loomed ahead. Shu Mingyuan’s expression remained calm as he extended his arm backward. His muscles, bones, and flesh suddenly swelled to colossal proportions. Under countless gazes, a gigantic hand over fifty meters in length, veined with black haki, clenched into a fist and slammed forward with devastating force.
“Super Amplification Technique: Ultra Heavy Fist!”
The sea erupted in a violent explosion. The massive wooden warship’s starboard side shattered instantly as a huge crack spread along the deck and keel. With a thunderous crash, the gargantuan fist tore through the vessel, Shu Mingyuan’s body sweeping from one side of the ship to the other.
The destruction was immense. Under the onslaught of his overwhelming power, the hull nearly shattered completely. Scores of naval soldiers were flung into the air, landing helplessly in the water, destined to become prey for the Offshore King.
Passing through the ship’s center, a cold smile flickered across Shu Mingyuan’s face. Without a backward glance, he surged toward the third warship. As he had said, he did not even have a ship to ride—why should they?
Annoyed, he intended to drag them all down to the ocean’s depths.
Moreover, only upon the sea’s surface did he face the full might of the advancing city without worry. The chakra flowing through him granted him the power to walk upon the ocean, the very capital that emboldened him to challenge the World Government at sea.
For as far as he knew, very few could fight alone upon the ocean. Most fighters, without external assistance, could not traverse the sea as effortlessly as he, maximizing their combat prowess this way.
Even martial arts masters like Garp or Rayleigh could only swim through the ocean, their fighting power greatly diminished. Perhaps only the Fish-Man race held some advantage in the sea.
If left unchecked, these ten warships would provide endless reinforcements for the Navy. Both their artillery and the officers aboard posed real threats. Therefore, from the start, Shu Mingyuan resolved to sink these ten vessels first, cutting off the Navy’s support, before facing Magellan and Rain of Shirou head-on.
At the third warship, Shu Mingyuan formed a hand seal. Chakra gathered in his throat, and then he unleashed a massive fireball over forty meters wide from his mouth.
“Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique!”
The entire warship was engulfed in flames within moments. Wood, a perfect combustible material, fueled the raging blaze that swept across the vessel in mere seconds. The warship became a burning inferno, a fiery ship of doom impossible to extinguish quickly. The Navy scrambled to escape, leaping into the sea one after another.
Three down, seven to go.
On the sea, Shu Mingyuan was free to act at will, while others were shackled by numerous constraints, unable to form cohesive combat strength. What had initially been a deadly trap set for Shu Mingyuan was now turning into a worldwide spectacle of mockery.
He repeated the same process—one sword strike, one punch, one fireball—annihilating six more warships. At his level, these vessels were mere transportation, utterly powerless to impede him.
Magellan’s face grew darker by the moment. As a superhuman-type poison fruit user, he could not possibly battle Shu Mingyuan at sea. The Ghost Hunter mercilessly exploited this weakness, sinking ship after ship.
Each warship consumed vast Navy resources, yet nine had fallen so easily—an unbearable loss even for the World Government. Reluctantly, Magellan ordered the last warship to retreat swiftly from these waters.
“Heh, you think you can run?”
Shu Mingyuan sneered coldly, watching the retreating ship. A thunder spear rapidly condensed in his hand, growing from ten meters to twenty, then ten zhang, twenty zhang in an instant. The thousand-year spear, far greater than before, was hurled with deadly force.
“Chidori Thunder God Spear!”
Like a rift tearing through space itself, the sea left behind a magnificent white streak from the spear’s immense power.
Before the astonished eyes of all, the massive thunder spear effortlessly pierced and shredded the warship.
Thus, all ten naval warships were utterly annihilated.
