Chapter 111: Repaying in Kind
Ye Dong’s sudden change of stance caught Guang Qi completely off guard.
“What!?” Guang Qi narrowed his eyes, scrutinizing Ye Dong sharply. “Are you out of your mind? Do you even know what you’re saying!?”
“Heh heh! Of course I do!” Ye Dong laughed wildly, rising from the ground ahead of Guang Qi. “Don’t forget, I have your memories in my mind. Now I know you not only wanted my body, but you’re trying to possess my soul as well. That’s just ruthless!”
The more Ye Dong laughed, the more sinister he appeared, reminding Guang Qi of his own former self.
“What... what’s going on!?” Guang Qi’s heart tightened. “Seeing him is like looking into a mirror!”
Previously, Ye Dong resembled Guang Qi only in appearance—similar in form but not in spirit. But now, Ye Dong’s words and mannerisms aligned closely with Guang Qi himself.
Ye Dong snorted coldly. “Even if I can’t find the correct sequence to reverse this body swap spell, I can still find a scapegoat. I just take over their body. Why should I sacrifice my soul and shorten my life for this woman?”
Hui Yan was stunned by Ye Dong’s words, her vacant eyes fixed intently on him, as if a mixture of seven jars of soy sauce and eight bottles of beer had been poured into her heart—she couldn’t grasp the feeling.
“You!?” Guang Qi was furious and anxious. “Damn it, changing sides now!? I thought you were a decent man. Turns out you’re a hypocrite!”
“Now I think like you—if you don’t look out for yourself, no one will. You two can play your games; I’m not joining anymore!” Ye Dong sneered coldly. “Even you wouldn’t dare kill me directly; this body swap isn’t complete yet, right?”
With that, Ye Dong started to walk away.
The sudden reversal completely shattered Guang Qi’s plans. Seeing Ye Dong turn to leave, he grew anxious.
“Trying to run!?” Guang Qi shouted coldly, chanting spells: “Flow cease, wind still! Ghost bind, traveler seize! All things halt, so be it by law!”
“Paralysis spell!?” Ye Dong became alert at the words “Flow cease” and somersaulted behind a mound of earth just in time to evade Guang Qi’s invisible energy attack.
“Guang Qi, our memories are connected, so stop using spells I already know!” Ye Dong laughed heartily. “This paralysis spell is something you learned from that ancient text, right?”
“You!!” Guang Qi was furious. He grabbed Hui Yan, raised his dagger, and plunged it into her shoulder.
“Ugh!” Hui Yan cried out in pain.
“If you kill her, you lose your bargaining chip!” Ye Dong, suppressing his own pain, laughed on. “Go ahead, kill her. Let’s see how you escape Officer Li’s net! Once caught, there’s no good outcome for you!”
“Ye Dong, I didn’t expect you to be even crueler than me!” Guang Qi cursed. “Do you think with your half-dead body you can slip out of my grasp?”
Before finishing, he shoved Hui Yan forcefully and charged at Ye Dong.
“Finally can’t hold back and want to catch me!?” Ye Dong gloated inwardly. Officer Li’s ‘know thy enemy’ tactic was brilliant. Now he could use Guang Qi’s shameless and reckless ‘advantage’ against him, and the effect was surprisingly clear.
Though Ye Dong was brash, he lacked the confidence to defeat Guang Qi. Seeing Guang Qi’s fierce attack, he turned and ran.
“Damn, I didn’t know I could run this fast!” But as Guang Qi said, Ye Dong’s current body was no match for Guang Qi’s extraordinary physique. After barely ten meters, Guang Qi caught up, knocking Ye Dong to the ground.
“Damn it, why hasn’t it activated yet?” Ye Dong desperately blocked Guang Qi’s punches, anxiety overwhelming him. What exactly was he waiting for?
“Even in a fistfight, my extraordinary body beats you easily!” Guang Qi laughed, breaking free from Ye Dong’s grasp, grabbing his neck, lifting him off the ground, and slamming him against the tomb wall.
“Ugh!” Ye Dong’s face flushed red from the blood rushing.
“You!” Ye Dong struggled with all his might but to no avail, still pinned down.
“Look at you—so fragile!” Guang Qi mocked with a raised brow. “With such a great extraordinary body, you waste it by becoming an undercover? Are you out of your mind?”
“Your brain’s the one that’s gone!” Ye Dong’s legs kicked wildly, clearly on the verge of being subdued.
At this life-or-death moment, a sudden idea flashed in Ye Dong’s mind. He bit his tongue hard and whispered a barely audible incantation: “Great Emperor Xuanwu before me, gods return to temple, ghosts return to grave, demons and spirits to forest. True Lord Xuanwu, so be it by law!”
This was the Xuanwu exorcism spell from the Maoshan sect.
“Ahhph!” Upon finishing the incantation, Ye Dong spat a mouthful of thick blood directly onto Guang Qi’s face.
“Ahh!” Guang Qi didn’t expect such a desperate counterattack.
The sudden spiritual agony made Guang Qi dizzy. He loosened his grip on Ye Dong’s hand and clutched his temple. “Damn it, he learned my spell!”
“Ha! Ha!” Ye Dong gasped for breath, taking advantage of Guang Qi rubbing his face to leap forward and reach into his pocket.
“What!? What are you doing!?” Guang Qi struggled to push him away, but Ye Dong, desperate, held on tightly.
“What do you think I’m doing? Taking off your pants!” Ye Dong laughed wildly, blood staining his mouth as he yanked at Guang Qi’s waistband.
“You pervert!” Guang Qi’s heart chilled. He clutched his waistband tightly.
“Now’s my chance!” Ye Dong swiftly pulled out an electronic device and typed “097468.”
“Oh no!” Guang Qi suddenly realized Ye Dong’s trick.
“Bomb disarmed.”
A mechanical female voice sounded from the device. Ye Dong knew this body stood little chance against Guang Qi’s extraordinary physique, so his goal was clear: do everything possible to help Hui Yan escape.
“Ha ha ha!” Ye Dong laughed, bloodied and triumphant. “Did you forget? I know the password from your memories!”
“Damn you!” Guang Qi cursed, furious that Ye Dong had defused the bomb attached to Hui Yan. He punched Ye Dong hard on the head.
“Ah!” Ye Dong groaned, almost falling to the ground from the blow.
“Fly! Find your freedom!” Gritting his teeth, Ye Dong ran a few meters and hurled the device over the cliff.
“Ha ha ha ha!” Ye Dong laughed, genuine and full of relief.
“No!” Guang Qi tried to pursue but was too late; he could only watch the device fall into the abyss.
“Damn! I can’t kill you now, but I can cripple you!” Enraged, Guang Qi struck Ye Dong down with a hand chop, then leapt high, stomping on Ye Dong’s left leg.
“Ah!” Ye Dong screamed in agony as his leg shattered, the searing pain chilling to hear.
“Let’s see how you run now with a broken leg!” Guang Qi raged, delivering a brutal punch to Ye Dong’s shoulder blade.
“Ye Dong!?” Hearing the screams, Hui Yan was terrified. “Did Guang Qi kill him?” Tears streamed uncontrollably.
Just as Guang Qi prepared to cripple Ye Dong’s other leg, a strange cry suddenly escaped his lips.
“Ah! It’s itching to death! Hey! Ow!”
For some unknown reason, Guang Qi’s whole body flushed red.
Bleeding and with drooping eyelids, Ye Dong slowly turned his head, sneering. “So what if you have my extraordinary body? You don’t have my brain! Cough, cough, cough!”
As Guang Qi screamed from the itching, a delayed visual memory finally flooded his mind.
In the vision, a figure ran through a field of withered chili trees—Ye Dong clutching a large bundle of chili branches.
“Damn, this body is severely allergic to the smell of burnt chilies!” Guang Qi suddenly recalled the memory and was stunned. “No wonder the strong chili scent at that spicy noodle shop made me so nauseous—it’s this body’s instinctive reaction!”
“Ouch, damn it!” Guang Qi’s skin itched more intensely.
“I have to hold on; I can’t weaken now!” Half-opening his mouth, dragging his nearly useless body, Ye Dong crawled toward Hui Yan, knowing this was the only chance to save her.
