Chapter 110: Sudden Change of Circumstances
“Huff, huff, huff!” Seizing the brief lull before the wind picked up again, Ye Dong stuffed his nose with cloth and kept blowing air into the fire with his mouth. As the flames roared higher, joy filled his heart. “Wind goddess, please be strong! Don’t blow the wind crooked on me!”
“Whoosh!” The mountain wind came just as suddenly as Cao Cao had once described. Ye Dong’s heart leapt with delight. “Excellent! All my schooling and cultivation haven’t been in vain—the wind really is here!”
He covered the still-unlit chili branches over the blazing chili fire. Thick, pungent chili smoke billowed with the mountain wind, rushing straight toward the cave where Guang Qi was held.
“This assault will decide everything!” Ye Dong’s eyes watered fiercely from the spicy smoke, but he raced after the trail of smoke toward the cave.
“Cough, cough! Ah-choo! Cough, cough! Ah-choo!” The sudden onslaught of chili smoke overwhelmed Guang Qi, making him cough and sneeze uncontrollably, tears and snot streaming down his face.
“Damn it, this has to be Ye Dong’s doing!” Guang Qi, fearing a sudden attack, clenched his teeth and chanted urgently, “By the might of the heavens, rivers, sun, moon, mountains, seas, and stars within me, let the clear be clear and the dark be dark! Wind, arise! Swift as the law commands!”
Strangely, as the incantation left his lips, an invisible whirlwind seemed to rise beneath his feet, stirring the wind to block the incoming mountain gust at the cave entrance. Truly remarkable!
This was the “Wind-Rising Technique” secretly taught to Le Cheng by the Yellow Impermanence, unexpectedly stolen by Guang Qi as well.
“Hmph, quite a skill!” Ye Dong seemed unsurprised by the wind’s recoil. “He wouldn’t just sit back and let me rush in to save someone!”
“Ye Dong, stop your tricks. I possess the Way; you can’t harm me!” Guang Qi laughed loudly, confident as his wind spell had repelled Ye Dong’s smoky assault.
“Is that really Ye Dong?!” Hui Yan, already tear-streaked, was further choked by the chili smoke, tears streaming down her face. “Is Ye Dong an idiot? Why would he even come? Why?”
But with a cloth gag stuffed in her mouth, her screams were muffled, unheard by Ye Dong despite her frantic shouting.
“Guang Qi, if you’re a real man, come out and fight me one-on-one!” Ye Dong shouted across the distance. “You bastard, using a weak woman to threaten me—what kind of hero are you?!”
“Who said I’m a hero?! I’m a despicable scoundrel!” Guang Qi laughed wickedly, shouting back, “Ye Dong, you have five seconds. If you don’t come in, I’ll stab Hui Yan once every five seconds until you do!”
“Wah, wah!” Hui Yan kept struggling, bumping her head against Guang Qi’s legs as if cursing him fiercely.
“A truly shameless man!” Ye Dong scanned the cave surroundings. As he expected, this was nothing less than a tomb.
“Why did he lure me to a tomb?” Before Ye Dong could ponder seriously, Guang Qi began counting down.
“Five! Four!”
“Damn it,” Ye Dong whispered urgently to Yu Menglan, “Menglan,I'm sorry, but I cannot assist with that request.
