Chapter Ninety-Two: Recording the Song (Fourth Update, Seeking First Subscription)
“Director Wu, hello,” Yang Qing stepped forward, shook hands with Director Wu, and greeted him, displaying both courtesy and respect.
Director Wu didn’t put on any airs at all. Holding Yang Qing’s hand, he patted him on the shoulder and laughed, “Xiao Yang, it’s been a while since we last met. You seem to have become more handsome, and sturdier too.”
“Oh, Director Wu, you’re joking. My face couldn’t be more ordinary. Handsome? Hardly,” Yang Qing responded with a smile. Then he beckoned to the children behind him, speaking gently, “Say hello to Grandpa Wu.”
“Hello, Grandpa Wu~” the children’s sweet voices rang out, and Director Wu was instantly charmed, smiling kindly, his eyes full of affection as he looked at the little ones. He said with a smile, “Sometimes I really wish I had such an adorable little granddaughter. Just listening to their cheerful laughter can make one forget all worries.”
At this moment, Wang Ming chimed in, “Haha, Director Wu is right. I’d love to have such a cute and beautiful daughter myself, but… I haven’t found her mother yet.”
“Xiao Wang, you must be too picky. There are plenty of ladies who’d love to be the mother of your child. Should this old man help set you up?”
“Haha, that would be great! I’ll count on you, then.”
Director Wu looked at Wang Ming and laughed. With age comes wisdom, and of course he understood Wang Ming’s underlying meaning. Now that the topic had shifted to matchmaking, Wang Ming was clearly hinting that it was time to move on to today’s main business. This was the art of conversation.
“Haha…” Looking at Wang Ming, Director Wu said with a smile, “Let’s not rush that. Isn’t it time to get to work?”
“Yes, yes,” Wang Ming slapped his forehead as if just remembering, then looked at Yang Qing and Director Wu, smiling, “Yang, Director Wu, should we go straight to the recording studio or head to the lounge first so you two can… hmm… have a chat?”
Upon hearing this, Director Wu looked at Yang Qing, who nodded with a smile. “Let’s go straight to the recording studio. Xiao Xue and Fang Du have already discussed the requirements for the background music with me.”
As Yang Qing spoke, he glanced at Qin Xue and Fang Du. Qin Xue smiled and nodded immediately, but Fang Du was bewildered.
What discussion? There was never any! He only knew about Yang Qing composing the program’s music because Qin Xue told him!
But Director Wu’s next words seemed to clarify things for the confused Fang Du.
Director Wu commented with genuine admiration, “Mm, Xiao Xue and Xiao Fang are both excellent—full of youthful energy and ambition, and very responsible.”
“To be honest, if they hadn’t invited you, our hidden master, this program would have faced a rough fate. Even just the editing would have taken forever.”
He looked at Yang Qing with interest. “But I never imagined you could compose music. When Xiao Xue first told me, I wondered if it was someone else with the same name as you.”
“Heh… It’s all luck, just luck…” Yang Qing replied sheepishly. Qin Xue and the others were left speechless.
Director Wu was also taken aback by his humility, smiling wryly, “You really are overly modest.”
He then turned to Wang Ming. “Xiao Wang, let’s go. Thanks for your help.”
“It’s no trouble,” Wang Ming waved his hand with a smile. “Just a second—let me get the little cuties settled.”
With that, he beckoned a female studio assistant, smiling at Yang Qing.
“Yang, let Jin’er and Lingyue take the kids to the lounge to play. Or they can go to the instrument or dance rooms, whichever they like, with Xiao Min leading them. How does that sound?”
“Sounds good,” Yang Qing nodded and smiled. Then he looked at the children and spoke gently, “Big brother has work to do. You all follow Sister Jin’er and Sister Lingyue, and don’t run off, okay?”
“Hehe… Don’t worry, big brother; Qiu’er will keep an eye on Xi’er!” Xiao Qiu'er laughed, and together with Xiao Bai, they flanked the curious Xi’er in the middle.
Xi’er: ⊙﹏⊙
Yang Qing watched the three little ones and couldn’t help but shake his head with a smile. He handed the cuddly Dong’er to Tan Jin’er and then, led by Wang Ming, left for the recording studio with Director Wu and the others.
The assistant Xiao Min glanced curiously at Tan Jin’er and the children, but said nothing, and guided them to the lounge.
The lounge was spacious, with sofas, a TV, massage chairs, and a tea table laden with various snacks and fruit.
Upon entering, the children exclaimed in amazement, looking around curiously.
Xi’er glanced left and right, and spotting a bear-shaped drink on the tea table, dashed over. Without waiting for her sister Jin’er to speak, she quickly inserted a straw and began drinking with delight.
“Xi’er! You…” Tan Jin’er was helpless in the face of this little rascal.
Bai Lingyue smiled, eyes crinkled, then looked at the quiet assistant Xiao Min and said, “Thank you. If you have work to do, feel free to go.”
“No worries,” Xiao Min replied, “My job today is to accompany you. The children are adorable—I really like them.”
Bai Lingyue: “Oh, that’s great. Thank you, then.”
“No need to be polite,”
Xiao Min moved to the TV, looked at the three little ones on the sofa enjoying their bear drink, and asked gently, “Do you want to watch TV?”
“Yes! The windmill show and the fake old fox! Haha…”
“No! Let’s watch the bunny show!”
Xiao Bai and Xi’er started bickering again, while Xiao Min looked utterly confused—what windmill show, fake old fox, and bunny show were these?
She looked blankly at Tan Jin’er and Bai Lingyue, who smiled and whispered something in Xiao Min’s ear before turning on the TV and handing the remote to Xiao Qiu’er.
“Swish!”
Xiao Bai and Xi’er instantly stopped arguing, both watching Xiao Qiu’er attentively.
“Hehe… Let’s watch the Gray Wolf!”
Xiao Bai + Xi’er: ,,,??^??,,,
The two little ones cast resentful glances at Bai Lingyue.
Bai Lingyue pulled a face at them playfully and started chatting with Xiao Min.
Tan Jin’er placed the wriggling Dong’er on the sofa between Xiao Qiu’er and Xiao Bai, then looked at Chun and Xia, smiling, “Why aren’t you eating fruit? It’s delicious. Here, try some pineapple.”
“Thank you, Sister Jin’er,” the two replied sweetly, then Chun hesitated before whispering, “Sister Jin’er, I… I want to see the dance room Wang Ming mentioned.”
“Mm-hmm,” Xia nodded quietly, “I want to go too, and also to the instrument room.”
“Alright,” Tan Jin’er smiled, glanced at the three little ones and the chatting Xiao Min and Bai Lingyue, and pondered aloud, “Let’s wait a bit, then I’ll ask Sister Xiao Min.”
“Okay!” the two replied happily.
“Such good, sensible children,” Tan Jin’er smiled, stroking their heads. Immediately, she gave a stern look to Xi’er, who was reaching for a second bear drink.
Xi’er, who was stealthily watching her sister and about to grab another drink, was caught by surprise. Her face froze, then broke into a sheepish grin.
“Hiahia…”
…
Meanwhile, Yang Qing and his group arrived at the recording studio.
It was Yang Qing’s first time in a recording studio, and he was fascinated by the equipment, examining everything like a second Xi’er.
“Xiao Yang, did you bring written compositions for the music?” Director Wu interrupted Yang Qing’s sightseeing, asking.
Yang Qing nodded. “Yes, I’ve written the pieces.”
“That’s excellent!” Director Wu was delighted. “How many do you have?”
“Um…” Yang Qing hesitated, then glanced at Wang Ming, touched his nose, and said, “Three… three pieces.”
“Three pieces!”
Director Wu was briefly shocked, then full of joy, enthusiastically patting Yang Qing’s shoulder. “Wonderful! Xiao Yang, you’re amazing. Once the recordings are done, if they fit our program’s theme, I’ll offer you a price fifty percent higher than the market rate for collaboration!”
“And for your editing of the opening episode, and all the new ideas and scripts you’ve provided—I remember everything. You’ll get a reward you’ll be satisfied with, don’t worry!”
Hearing this, Yang Qing felt a bit embarrassed, rubbing his nose and looking at Wang Ming.
“Ahem!”
Wang Ming understood immediately and smiled, “Director Wu, whether the pieces are suitable or not, we’ll only know once we hear the recordings. Shall we begin?”
Director Wu nodded with a smile, “Yes! Let’s do it!”
“Yang, are you ready? Do you need any instruments?” Wang Ming asked.
“All good,” Yang Qing replied, smiling. He walked over to a guzheng, looked at the group, and said, “Let’s start with the guzheng piece, ‘Early Summer After the Rain.’”
Guzheng piece!
Qin Xue and Wang Ming were both stunned, their eyes filled with disbelief as they looked at Yang Qing.
You can play the guzheng too!
