In the living room, Qin Hao’s fingers moved rapidly as he controlled the little character in the game, rampaging wildly. Suddenly, a shadow blocked the light, and a voice that made his heart tremble sounded:
“Is the game fun?”
“Yes…”
As soon as he uttered the word “yes,” he froze, abruptly looking up. Then, shocked, he even threw his phone aside.
“Mom! You… you… how did you get here?”
Qin Hao stammered in fear, glancing at little Qiu’er beside him, who was covering her mouth, giggling softly, then letting out a cute “Dudu ya!”
“Hmph! How could I not come? If I didn’t, I wouldn’t know how lazy you’ve become! You let a three-year-old open the door while you sit and play games. Qin Hao, you really are something!”
Qin’s mother said coldly, “And I didn’t come because you called me.”
She took out her phone and placed it on the coffee table, saying, “You sent me that photo, didn’t you mean for me to come?”
“Swish!”
Hearing this, cold sweat almost broke out on Qin Hao’s forehead. He sneaked a glance upstairs and hurriedly whispered:
“Mom, you’re my real mother, don’t set me up. If my sister finds out, I’m doomed!”
“Brother Hao, what can’t Qin sister know? Can Qiu’er know?”
Just as he finished speaking, little Qiu’er’s curious baby voice rang out again, startling him once more.
He had been careless, forgetting there was a little spy around!
“Hehe… Qiu’er, you wanted to video chat with your little friends, right? Go ahead quickly, or you’ll be late,” Qin Hao said with an awkward smile.
“Yes!”
Little Qiu’er exclaimed, then looked up at Qin’s mother and said, “Auntie, let Brother Hao chat with you. Qiu’er will go get Brother’s phone to make the video call.”
“Alright, good girl, so sensible, go quickly.”
Qin’s mother looked kindly at little Qiu’er as she ran into the kitchen, then turned to Qin Hao and asked, “How much do you know?”
“Uh…” Qin Hao shook his head. “What I know, you already know. My sister won’t say anything, and I don’t dare to ask more.”
Qin’s mother snapped angrily, “Then what use are you?”
Qin Hao: (??_??;)
“You really are my mother!”
In the kitchen, Yang Qing was stirring eggs when little Qiu’er ran in. He smiled immediately:
“Sweetheart, are you hungry? It’ll be ready soon. Brother just needs to cook one more dish and then we can eat.”
“No, Brother,” little Qiu’er shook her head, smiling. “Qiu’er wants to video chat with Xi’er, Xiao Bai, and Dudu Niannian.”
“Oh, okay.”
Hearing this, Yang Qing took out his phone and handed it to the little one.
“Go ahead, then tell Qin sister and Brother Hao to get ready for dinner.”
“Okay!”
Little Qiu’er nodded happily, then twisted her small body and ran toward the door. Just as she was about to leave, she paused, her lips curved into a babyish smile.
“Brother, Brother Hao’s mom is here!”
“Bang!”
The bowl of eggs in Yang Qing’s hand fell to the floor, shattering into pieces.
“Ah! Brother!”
Little Qiu’er screamed in fright and hurried to get the mop but was grabbed by Yang Qing.
Sweat beaded on his forehead as he nervously opened his mouth, his voice hoarse:
“Who did you say… came?”

“Brother Hao’s mom, and Qiu’er was the one who opened the door.”
Little Qiu’er said, reaching out to wipe the sweat from Yang Qing’s forehead, then asked anxiously in her baby voice, “Brother, why are you sweating? Are you sick?”
“No… no.”
Yang Qing forced a smile, shaking his head. “Go ahead and video chat with Xi’er and the others. Brother will clean up here.”
“Okay.” Little Qiu’er nodded, but still looked worried.
“Brother, you really aren’t sick, right? Don’t lie to Qiu’er.”
“No, really not. How would Brother lie to a sweetheart? Go on now.”
Little Qiu’er left, half believing it. Yang Qing took a deep breath and began cleaning up the broken pieces and spilled egg.
Just as he was finishing, a familiar voice suddenly came from behind him:
“Xiao Yang, are you okay?”
“Swish!”
Yang Qing turned in shock and stared at the face he had seen just over an hour ago. His mind went blank.
How could it be her? Impossible! How could she be the mother of Qin Xue and Qin Hao?
Terrifying!
“Xiao Yang… did I scare you?”
“No… no!”
Yang Qing quickly replied, nervous and awkward. “M-Minister Zhao, you… you…”
Yang Qing was so nervous he could barely speak. Qin’s mother, Zhao Yue Zhu, smiled at him and said, “Alright, no need to call me Minister at home. Just call me Auntie.”
She looked at the broken bowl and egg on the floor, smiling again. “Are you making scrambled eggs? Need help?”
“No, no,” Yang Qing quickly waved his hands. “Just frying some tomatoes and eggs. It’ll be ready soon. Please have a seat first.”
“Mhm. Don’t be so nervous. You scared your little sister.”
“Hehe…”
Yang Qing forced a dry laugh. How could he not be nervous? Her sudden dual identity entrance nearly gave him a heart attack.
Zhao Yue Zhu smiled and left. Yang Qing took several deep breaths, then his hands trembled uncontrollably as he resumed cracking eggs.
In the living room, Zhao Yue Zhu approached to find little Qiu’er looking at her shyly, her face full of nervousness.
“Auntie, my brother, he… he…”
“Don’t worry,” Zhao Yue Zhu interrupted before Qiu’er could finish. She stepped forward, lifted the little girl, kissed her, and smiled kindly.
“Your brother is just a little nervous. He’ll be fine soon.”
“Okay, that’s good.”
Little Qiu’er patted her chest cutely, relieved. “Then Qiu’er can video chat with Xi’er and the others.”
“Alright, go ahead. Would Auntie mind joining you?”
Zhao Yue Zhu sat on the sofa holding little Qiu’er, smiling.
“Yes!”
Little Qiu’er nodded happily, then skillfully operated Yang Qing’s phone to start the video call.
Qin Hao came over and climbed behind the sofa to watch.
After a moment, the video connected, showing Tan Jin’er. She was startled when she saw the three faces on the screen.
“Hehe… Sister Jin’er!”
“Oh, Qiu’er, where are you?”
Tan Jin’er asked curiously. Previous calls had been with Xi’er and Xiao Bai, so she hadn’t met Qin Hao.

“Hehe, at Qin Xue’s house. This pretty auntie is Qin sister’s mother, and this is Brother Hao,” little Qiu’er introduced.
Tan Jin’er was stunned for three seconds, then quickly said respectfully to the screen, “Hello, Auntie. I’m Qing Ge’s little sister, Tan Jin’er.”
“Hello, Jin’er,” Zhao Yue Zhu responded warmly.
“Hehe… um, I’ll go call Xi’er and Xiao Bai.”
Tan Jin’er was about to leave—this was when a little sister’s role really showed its value.
Soon, little Xi’er appeared in the frame, giggling, followed by Xiao Bai, Xiao Dong’er, Xiao Chun’er, and little Qiu’er.
Wow, so many little ones had gathered! Little Qiu’er was thrilled, chattering happily with them. Zhao Yue Zhu and Qin Hao exchanged surprised looks.
Why are there so many kids?
Qin Hao whispered in his mother’s ear, “I’ve only met two of them—Xi’er and Xiao Bai.”
“Oh…”
Zhao Yue Zhu nodded lightly, then smiled at the adorable, joyous children on the video.
“Mom! Why did you come?”
Just then, Qin Xue came out of the shower and froze when she saw her mother in the living room.
“Qin sister!”
Hearing the voice, little Qiu’er looked up sweetly and called her.
Zhao Yue Zhu rolled her eyes at Qiu’er and said, “Why, can’t I come? You came to Jinghua and didn’t come see me, so I had to come see you myself.”
“Mom~~”
Qin Xue acted spoiled, then walked over and kissed little Qiu’er.
“Qiu’er, are you video chatting with Xi’er?”
“Yes.”
“Good girl.”
Qin Xue smiled and patted her little head, about to appear on the video, but Zhao Yue Zhu pulled her up abruptly.
“Come with me.”
“Oh.”
The mother and daughter went into a bedroom. Zhao Yue Zhu looked at her daughter sternly.
“Talk.”
Qin Xue played dumb. “Talk about what?”
Zhao Yue Zhu said sharply, “…Talk about what? You brought all those people home. Talk!”
“Ah, Mom~” Qin Xue acted coquettishly. “You already met Yang Qing today. So? Isn’t he excellent?”
Zhao Yue Zhu rubbed her forehead helplessly.
“Excellent is excellent, but I’m asking about his family situation. Earlier during the video chat with Qiu’er, I noticed there were so many kids.”
Hearing this, Qin Xue’s expression darkened. After a pause, she said:
“Xi’er is Jin’er’s little sister. When they were at their worst, Yang Qing took them in and adopted them as his sisters.”
“Xiao Bai is the daughter of Yang Qing’s neighbor. Since they run a shop together, Xiao Bai lives with Qiu’er and the others. As for the other three…”
Qin Xue took a deep breath.
“They are all Yang Qing’s sisters, including little Qiu’er. They are all… orphans…”
“Or… orphans!” Zhao Yue Zhu was shocked. “Then Yang Qing…”
“He is also an orphan.”
