Chapter 128: Wang Ying's Assist (Please Subscribe)
The sweet, milky voice of little Qiu'er and the "hiahia" laughter of little Xi'er instantly added a touch of unique charm and childlike innocence to the fervent, bustling concert.
The audience responded with thunderous applause, causing the two little ones to leave the stage with flushed, rosy cheeks. As they returned to their seats, Xiaobai, Niannian, and Dudu excitedly gathered around them, chirping and jumping about.
Just then, the excited Dudu suddenly spoke, and it was a complete sentence!
"Qiu... Qiu'er, Xi... Xi'er! I... I want to... give... give flowers too!"
Dudu's mother and Qin Xue, seated nearby, did not hear Dudu due to the roaring cheers of the crowd, but the little girls heard her clearly.
"Whoosh!"
Several pairs of eyes turned toward little Dudu in surprise. A moment later, little Xi'er grabbed her hand and shouted excitedly:
"Dudu! You can talk! Quick, call me sister! Call me sister!"
Dudu: (??????)
Dudu refused. She felt that Xi'er was younger than her because she could lift Xi'er up, but Xi'er couldn't lift her, so it should be Xi'er calling her "big sister" instead!
"Ho ho..."
Xiaobai looked at the two little ones and laughed, "Silly billies, I am the big sister here. I'm the one who goes to kindergarten!"
Little Xi'er + Dudu: →_→
"Hee hee..."
At this moment, little Qiu'er took little Niannian's hand and smiled, "Dudu, in a little while, you, Xiaobai, and Niannian can go give flowers to sister Ke'er together. The flowers are right there."
As she spoke, she pointed a tiny finger toward Tan Jin'er. Dudu turned her head, glanced over, and immediately rushed forward in excitement, grabbing little Qiu'er and spinning her around.
"Dudu, put me down!" little Qiu'er squeaked in her milky voice, but Dudu ignored her and kept holding her.
Just then, Wang Ying's third song began. For the remainder of the show, Wang Ying entered a frenzy, singing song after song. The breaks between each track lasted no more than five minutes.
Even Yang Qing, the accompanist, was astonished. He could usually rest for the duration of two or three songs, and even then, he felt exhausted, yet Wang Ying kept on singing! He couldn't fathom how such a slender body could harbor so much energy. Could it be... money?
Hmm...
Thinking of that word, Yang Qing felt his own body fill with strength. Yes, if it were for money, he felt he could be quite enduring too! But was Wang Ying really doing it for money? Hehe... perhaps, perhaps not, perhaps a bit of both. That was an answer only she knew.

After Wang Ying had been singing solo for nearly an hour, Wang Ke'er stepped onto the stage, looking a bit nervous and uneasy. She was a newcomer signed by Wang Ying and the only guest performer for the concert.
As the music began, the audience gave her enthusiastic applause. Wang Ke'er’s voice was very sweet, like eating cotton candy—sweet with a hint of playfulness. The songs she chose were joyful and light, giving one the feeling of eating ice cream in the summer.
As Wang Ke'er appeared, Xiaobai, Niannian, and Dudu excitedly grabbed their flowers and ran onto the stage. Seeing the beautiful and adorable little ones coming to present flowers, the audience cheered and applauded happily.
After handing over the flowers, little Dudu and little Niannian held hands, flashed a grin at the enthusiastic audience, and ran toward the edge of the stage. But halfway there, they suddenly realized that Xiaobai hadn't followed them!
Turning back, they saw Xiaobai following closely behind Wang Ke'er, her little face brimming with excitement as she waved her hand at the audience.
Dudu: "&$??*%"
Little Niannian: ???
"Niannian, Dudu, hurry down!"
At the side of the stage, Li Wanxiao, who had followed them, saw the two little ones standing there in a daze and urged them helplessly.
"Dudu, come on!"
Seeing her mother urging her, little Niannian grabbed Dudu's hand and headed off the stage. All the while, Dudu kept turning her head, muttering in "baby talk" at Xiaobai, who was now holding hands with Wang Ke'er. She seemed to be indignantly accusing Xiaobai of being unfair for going off to play by herself without them!
While Dudu was speaking baby talk, Mother Bai in the audience was speaking Sichuan dialect:
"You little rascal! You little brat! You almost made Ke'er lose her rhythm just now! When we get home, I'm going to give you a good talking to!"
Bai Zhijun, sitting beside her, stared straight at the stage, acting as if he hadn't heard a word. On one side was his "leaky little cotton-padded jacket" (his daughter), and on the other his "warm, comfortable big cotton-padded jacket" (his wife); he couldn't afford to provoke either of them.
Wang Ke'er sang two songs, and our little Xiaobai followed her for both. It wasn't until Wang Ying returned to the stage that the two let go of each other's hands and returned to their respective places.
As soon as Wang Ying appeared, the atmosphere heated up even further. Many audience members had cheered until their voices turned hoarse. Wang Ying did not disappoint them, singing song after song, each with a quality that hardly differed from her lossless digital releases. This was the strength of a diva! Even singing a cappella, she was leagues ahead of second or third-rate singers, not to mention those internet influencers who relied solely on auto-tune—that would be an insult to her.
Time gradually slipped away, and the two-hour concert was drawing to a close. After finishing a song, Wang Ying didn't leave the stage. Instead, after a brief pause, she spoke to the audience for the first time.
***
"Thank you for your support, and thank you all for coming to my first concert."
Wang Ying smiled, her voice elegant. "I am very happy and very satisfied. So, in return for your support and love, and to ensure this concert has a perfect conclusion, I have prepared a new song for you."
"Roar!"
Hearing this, the audience erupted once more, screaming "Goddess!" and waving their glow sticks so hard they almost snapped.
"Thank you, thank you..."
Wang Ying looked at the explosive atmosphere, bowed slightly in gratitude, and then said:
"Before I sing this new song, I would like to introduce someone. He is the piano accompanist for this concert—Yang Qing!"
As she gestured to Yang Qing, who sat at the piano, he quickly stood up and bowed with a smile to the enthusiastic audience.
Wang Ying's voice rose again: "Perhaps some of you haven't heard of him, or perhaps some of you have heard the name Yang Qing but couldn't put a face to it. Well, I can tell you now: he is the singer and songwriter of 'Mohe Ballroom,' the performer of the erhu piece 'Horse Racing' and the suona piece 'Hundred Birds Worshipping the Phoenix,' and he is also the composer and lyricist for this new song of mine!"
"Boom!"
Hearing this, the audience felt as if they had been struck by lightning.
"Mohe Ballroom," a song that had dominated the new music charts within days—how could they not have heard it? And "Horse Racing" and "Hundred Birds Worshipping the Phoenix" had made many feel the true charm of traditional Chinese instruments!
They couldn't believe that such a person would appear at the Diva Wang's concert, and as a piano accompanist at that!
This...
Yang Qing, being watched by tens of thousands of people, felt a bit flustered and awkward. Wang Ying had told him she would announce the songwriter, and he had agreed, but he hadn't expected her to be so thorough!
Was this assist a blessing or a curse? His mind raced...
Hmm... it should be a blessing. After all, he was a man with big plans. Thinking of this, he couldn't help but grin. Wang Ying was letting him hitch a ride on her success; she was a good person! A good diva!
Wang Ying didn't know that Yang Qing had secretly given her a "Good Person" card in his heart. Seeing him smile, she looked at the stunned audience and laughed:
"Alright, let's proceed to the final song of the night. 'Acacia' is for all of you. May we all have someone to long for, and may all our love find its fulfillment!"
