Watching Zhu Mu storm out and slam the door, Chao Xu felt rather innocent, completely clueless about what she had done.

Striding over to her seat, she noticed the other students in the class acting as if they hadn’t witnessed the spectacle at all, mere bystanders to the drama.

Chao Xu glanced at them but said nothing.

Just then, a faint sound came from beside her. She turned her head and discovered Chi Naiyun secretly watching her, her cheeks flushed a vibrant red with excitement despite her slightly plump, fair face.

“You’re amazing,” Chi Naiyun whispered. “That problem—most of the students in the class couldn’t solve it, but you figured it out in an instant, without even thinking.”

Chao Xu paused, beginning to sense something was off.

She glanced at the problem written on the blackboard and asked, “You couldn’t solve it?”

Wasn’t it a basic question?

Chi Naiyun shook her head, blushing even more. “Don’t talk about me. Even if the top student in our class tried, they wouldn’t necessarily get it so quickly. That question is beyond the syllabus.”

Chao Xu frowned slightly, realizing that the average standard of the youngsters in this world seemed to differ from her expectations.

She decided to chat idly with Chi Naiyun. “What’s your academic standing in the class?”

It was a casual question, but Chi Naiyun seemed to be touched on a sore spot. She hesitated for a long time before answering, “At first, my grades were really good—I was among the top students in the grade. But lately, I’ve slipped a lot. Now I’m in the lower-middle of the class.”
