Chao Xu’s words landed like a heavy bomb, leaving Lu Yuehong utterly shaken, her mind a jumble, unable to find her voice for a long moment.

As he spoke, the young man took out his phone and, smiling, leaned in closer. “My sister and I look very much alike, teacher. If you take a look, you’ll surely remember.”

When he offered his phone, Lu Yuehong instinctively wanted to look away. But the young man’s posture was strange—though he seemed to have only taken a step forward, he somehow blocked any way for her to move, leaving her no choice but to look at the phone.

In the next instant, the familiar timid face of Chao Si appeared before her eyes, almost making her scream.

Impossible. It really was that useless Chao Si!

Lu Yuehong’s face turned visibly pale. Chao Xu, however, acted as if he hadn’t noticed at all, his eyes still crinkling with a gentle smile as he looked at her.

“Didn’t you see the news?” the young man replied, a hint of surprise in his tone, though he explained dutifully, “A month ago, my uncle’s entire family disappeared except for my sister. Later, my sister also vanished on her way to school. By the time they found her, she was already dead.”

At this, Lu Yuehong suddenly remembered seeing a news headline about the incident.
