In the empty, shadow-shrouded grove, Yellow-hair’s lewd chuckle echoed obscenely in the silence. These thugs were classic creatures of base desire—if there were spoils to claim, how could they not want a share? The underling who had spoken earlier swallowed greedily and immediately chimed in, “Boss Huang, when you’re done, don’t forget your brothers! It’s freezing out here—let’s all have some fun together, hahahaha!”

“You two have heavy tastes, going after even an idiot, but I like that!” someone else snickered.

“Count me in too!” another voice joined.

The open space was soon filled with coarse, filthy banter, growing more vulgar by the moment.

Just as the gang reveled in their obscene daydreams, Yellow-hair suddenly felt a chill at his back. He instinctively reached for his neck, glancing uneasily behind him.

“How strange,” he muttered, “why does it feel like someone’s watching me?”

No sooner had the words left his lips than faint footsteps sounded—soft as a ghostly harbinger from the depths of hell.

Already unsettled, Yellow-hair shuddered involuntarily.

Under the hazy moonlight, he saw a slender youth approaching, gliding silently over the carpet of fallen leaves.

The newcomer’s skin was almost unnaturally pale, with long, elegant brows, a straight nose, and eyes like sapphires—phoenix-shaped and glimmering with fractured light.

It was none other than Ci Mo, who had just followed Chao Xu and leapt out the window.

At first glance, even Yellow-hair—a grown man—was almost stunned by the youth’s exquisite features. Yet, the only flaw was in those blue-gray eyes, which shone coldly in the moonlight, staring at Yellow-hair as if he were already a corpse. That gaze felt like a direct challenge to his authority.

“Damn it! Who are you, kid? What gang did you crawl out of? Who are you trying to scare with your glow-in-the-dark contact lenses in the middle of the night?”

He rose, bristling with anger, and moved to shove Ci Mo’s shoulder.

But before his hand could brush the boy’s sleeve, Ci Mo seized his wrist with obvious disgust.

“Don’t touch me with your filthy hands. Disgusting.”

There was not a trace of the innocence or naivete he showed before Chao Xu; instead, an icy arrogance and chilling disdain radiated from him.

Yellow-hair’s wrist was gripped so tightly it throbbed with pain. Sweating profusely, he tried to save face in front of his underlings, forcing a sycophantic smile as he tried to negotiate. “Hey, why don’t you let me go this time, huh? We’re all from the same turf—we’ll be seeing each other again, right?”

Ci Mo ignored him, instead posing an abrupt question. “Who were you just talking about? Who are you planning to harm?”

Yellow-hair froze for an instant, then realized who the boy meant and blurted, “You mean that idiot from Class Four, right? What about—aaaaaah!”

Before he could finish, a crisp crack sounded—bone giving way under relentless pressure. The pain was so sudden and overwhelming that Yellow-hair didn’t even have time to react before he let out a bloodcurdling scream, startling a flock of sleeping birds into flight.

As wings thrashed overhead, Ci Mo’s face—half veiled in dappled shadow—seemed even more remote and frosty.

Still gripping Yellow-hair’s broken wrist, his expression remained utterly unmoved; he didn’t even blink. He tossed the contorted thug aside as casually as one would discard trash, his voice level and indifferent:

“Don’t mention her name. You’re not worthy.”

There was no ripple in his eyes; even disgust and contempt seemed beneath his notice.

If Fluffball had witnessed this, she would have melted into a helpless puddle on the spot. Was this the same sweet, gentle angel who acted so soft and adorable before Chao Xu?

No—this was a veritable demon king, surrounded by rings of infernal dragonfire—a world-ending tyrant from the depths of hell.
