Chapter 12: Her Name is K

The subordinate was startled by the sudden fury of the head of the Nan family, and dared not ask further why they would abandon such a lucrative opportunity at this critical moment. He hurriedly instructed those below to cease the suppression of the Chao Corporation.

With the Nan family head urging them with such urgency, the subordinates acted swiftly; within ten minutes, nearly everything that could be withdrawn in secret had been taken care of. When his subordinate reported that the retraction was complete, the Nan family head finally breathed a sigh of relief, his plump face filled with the sense of release.

Wiping the cold sweat from his brow, he glanced at the computer, intending to send a message to the person on the other side to halt their actions. Just as he was about to type, the chilling notification sound pinged again.

He looked up, and the words on the screen sent a shiver down his spine.

“You did well. I’m quite satisfied. By the way, a little reminder—I’ll always be watching Nan Corporation. Looking forward to our next meeting.”

It shouldn’t be possible. How did that person receive the news so quickly?

Could it be that he had been watching Nan Corporation all along?

It was only dull text, yet the Nan family head felt as though a demon were whispering in his ear.

After all, if he really did make a move, the next moment, all he had painstakingly built might collapse along with it.

He coveted his current authority, so he dared not risk it lightly.

Careful sailing ensures a long voyage; now the enemy is in the dark and he is in the light, so prudence is the virtue most needed.

Still, he was a little curious about that nameless hacker. After much hesitation, he sent a message.

“May I ask your name?”

Sitting at her desk, fingers poised to destroy the chat program, Chao Xu paused, pondering for a moment.

Suddenly, a word flashed through her mind, unexpectedly familiar. Though she had no memory of it, Chao Xu felt, in a haze, as if many had called her by this name before.

She lowered her gaze and tapped a key on the keyboard.

Moments later, as the Nan family head anxiously awaited a reply, a message arrived. He hurriedly checked it, only to find a single, stark letter.

“K. You may call me ‘K.’”

“K.” King.

The master of all, the sovereign above all things—the most arrogant ruler.
