Chapter 57: Arriving at Qingbei University and Moving into a Single Dorm Room
It was only Yang Feng’s first time at Qingbei University.
Qingbei University left him with an exceptionally deep impression. The students were all remarkably diligent; even late into the night, they practiced their skills relentlessly.
Soon, Yang Feng thought of his own abilities. His skills were rather peculiar, and he doubted they could be easily practiced.
Qingbei University spanned thousands of acres, giving the impression of a small city. Yang Feng and Li Liushui walked for a long time before finally arriving at their destination.
“Yang Feng, this is the student dormitory,” Li Liushui said. “From today on, you’ll be living here. Someone will explain the details to you shortly. But remember one thing: at Qingbei University, most items can be traded among students. All transactions must be voluntary—never force anyone.”
At that moment, someone was already waiting at the dormitory entrance. Upon seeing Li Liushui, he hurried over.
“Greetings, Sword Sage!” he said respectfully, his face full of reverence.
Li Liushui held a very high status in the Great Xia Empire, and many people respected him deeply. Yang Feng, though outwardly composed, harbored a similar respect for Li Liushui.
Li Liushui nodded and said, “I’ll leave him in your care and take my leave now.”
He turned to Yang Feng. “Yang Feng, rest well. I’ll come find you tomorrow.”
As one of the top experts in Great Xia, Li Liushui was busy—he couldn’t handle everything personally. That he had brought Yang Feng to Qingbei University was already a rare privilege. How many in Great Xia could claim such favor?
Yang Feng looked calm and nodded. “Alright.”
Li Liushui said nothing more to Yang Feng’s reply, but the man beside them was utterly stunned. Who in Great Xia dared to address Li Liushui so indifferently? He had never seen anyone treat Li Liushui with such coldness. Yet Li Liushui didn’t get angry; he simply nodded and left. Moments later, his figure had vanished.
Yang Feng had been brought by Li Liushui, so the other man dared not show the slightest neglect.
He asked politely, “Hello, are you Yang Feng?”
Yang Feng nodded calmly. “Yes.”
His calm tone made the man a bit uneasy, but since Yang Feng was brought by Li Liushui, he didn’t dare say much.
He asked, “Where would you like to live? Our dormitory area at Qingbei University offers many choices.”
Qingbei University’s dormitory area covered hundreds of acres. There were many options: single rooms, double rooms, shared rooms, and even standalone villas. Naturally, the cost differed for each.
It was only now that Yang Feng realized that at Qingbei University, points were a much more useful currency than Xia coins.
Shared rooms were the cheapest—about one hundred points per month. Double rooms were about five hundred points monthly. A single room required one thousand points per month. As for a standalone villa, it cost at least five thousand points each month.
If you had no points, you could pay with Xia coins. One point equated to one hundred Xia coins. Thus, a shared room cost ten thousand Xia coins monthly; a double room, fifty thousand; a single room, one hundred thousand; and a villa, five hundred thousand per month.
Such amounts were beyond the reach of ordinary families. Yang Feng himself only had one thousand Xia coins on him.
Points could be exchanged for Xia coins, but Xia coins could not be turned into points. Anyone caught converting Xia coins into points would face severe punishment.
Li Liushui had told Yang Feng that at Qingbei University, most items could be traded with points. Using Xia coins to obtain points was extremely rare. Most things could only be redeemed with points, making them the true currency at Qingbei University.
Wherever Xia coins could be used, points were not applicable.
Through the man’s explanation, Yang Feng understood much more.
He also learned the man’s name: Liu Haotian, a third-year student at Qingbei University. Liu Haotian now worked as a dormitory manager in the Xia dormitory area, mainly overseeing dorms and earning some points.
But, as Liu Haotian said, earning points at Qingbei University was no easy task.
Since Yang Feng had been brought by Li Liushui, Liu Haotian treated him with utmost courtesy.
“Yang Feng, I know you’ve just finished your college entrance exam and must have quite a few points. But let me advise you—use points sparingly. You’ll need them for many things once you enroll at Qingbei.”
Yang Feng understood Liu Haotian’s advice: he should spend his points wisely.
However, he didn’t have enough Xia coins, and he was accustomed to living alone. He didn’t want to share a room.
With that thought, Yang Feng spoke, “I’d like a single room.”
Liu Haotian looked at him and asked, “Are you sure you want a single room?”
Yang Feng nodded. “I’m sure.”
Liu Haotian shook his head. “Since you’re certain, I’ll assign you a single room. But once you’re at Qingbei, you’ll realize how precious points are. You’ll regret it then!”
He then led Yang Feng into Dormitory Building Six.
“Building Six is all single rooms. The doors with nameplates are occupied. Any door without a nameplate, you may choose.”
Yang Feng looked around and pointed to a room in the corner. “I’ll take that one.”
Liu Haotian nodded. “Room 305. Give me your ID card, and I’ll register you.”
Every citizen of Great Xia receives an ID card at birth, for personal use only—it cannot be used by anyone else, even if found.
Liu Haotian took Yang Feng’s ID card and swiped it on an identification device. Afterward, he had Yang Feng input his fingerprint. Once that was done, the points were automatically deducted from Yang Feng’s points card.
When Liu Haotian saw the balance on Yang Feng’s points card, he was utterly shocked.
“Yang Feng, how do you have so many points?” The device displayed Yang Feng’s points balance.
