Chapter Fifty-Six: Taking the Entrance Exam, Heading to Qingbei University
Although Yang Feng was not fond of speaking, he was by no means a fool. He would never do something that would offend others so easily.
“Since you’ve agreed to participate in the entrance exam, I’ll now give you the rewards for being the national top scorer in the college entrance examination!”
“You should know that as both the top scorer in Jiangnan Province and the national top scorer, the rewards are exceptionally generous!”
As his words fell, a flash of white light flickered in Li Liushui’s hand.
In an instant, several items appeared in his grasp.
Seeing these things, Yang Feng’s eyes immediately lit up, for among them was a skill book.
“The first reward is two hundred thousand points!”
“Once you enter Qingbei University, points will be the most important resource for you.”
“You can exchange points for anything—weaponry, teleportation scrolls, skill books, and so forth.”
“Moreover, the scores you achieved in the college entrance exam will also be converted into points for use during your university years.”
Yang Feng had scored ten thousand points in the exam. Now, with another two hundred thousand awarded, he possessed a total of two hundred and ten thousand points.
Such a vast number of points—perhaps even upperclassmen at Qingbei University might not possess as many as he did.
Li Liushui then handed Yang Feng a points card.
“Yang Feng, here is your points card. All your points are stored on this card!”
“You should know that at Qingbei University, points are even more valuable than the currency of Great Xia!”
“When you arrive at Qingbei, you’ll understand their true worth!”
“Now for your second reward: a beginner’s skill book and an intermediate skill book.”
“The third reward is a qualification to enter the Warlord’s Tower, granted for successfully repelling the forces of darkness.”
“As for information about the Warlord’s Tower, you’ll learn everything once you’re at Qingbei.”
“I won’t elaborate here, but you should know: to enter the Warlord’s Tower is an exceedingly rare opportunity!”
“So before you go, be sure you’re well prepared!”
Given Li Liushui’s solemn tone, Yang Feng could imagine just how significant this matter was.
He nodded, replying, “I understand!”
Once everything had been explained, Yang Feng quickly packed his belongings.
Then, Li Liushui picked up a teleportation talisman and activated it.
With a flash of white light, Yang Feng and Li Liushui vanished from the room.
After the two had departed, Qin Han let out a quiet sigh. He closed the door behind him and left.
Stepping onto the street, he saw that it was deserted.
No one would have imagined that out of this humble house had walked two students of Qingbei University—one of whom was the national top scorer.
The thought filled Qin Han with hope as he gazed toward the distant capital.
“Yang Feng, you must do your best!”
His voice was full of expectation.
Yang Feng felt as though he had been in transit for ages.
The Great Xia Empire was one of the three largest nations on Blue Star, and the distance from Donghai to the capital was thousands of kilometers.
Even with a teleportation talisman, the journey took several minutes.
Yang Feng watched as myriad streaks of light flashed past on either side of the spatial corridor.
He saw many strange scenes—shards of space all around him.
He felt weightless, dizzy, much like the first time one rides a long-distance bus—uncomfortable, but not to the point of nausea. His face was just a little pale.
After several minutes, the dizziness faded, and his feet were once again on solid ground.
“Yang Feng, it seems your willpower is impressive!”
Li Liushui was clearly satisfied with Yang Feng’s fortitude.
The capital at night was nothing like Donghai after dark.
As the imperial capital, the city was as bright as day even in the dead of night—a city that never slept.
Soon, Yang Feng and Li Liushui arrived at Qingbei University.
“So this is Qingbei University?” Yang Feng looked up at the massive archway, over a hundred meters tall and made of granite.
This was the Qingbei Gate.
The gate was imposing and solid, radiating an aura of invincibility.
Standing beneath it, one felt utterly insignificant.
For a gate alone to exude such pressure—Yang Feng was deeply astonished.
He could sense a faint threat emanating from the gate.
Li Liushui explained, “This Qingbei Gate is not only the main entrance to the university, but also an immensely powerful weapon.”
“Even the strongest of warriors would pay a steep price for attempting to force their way in.”
“Come, Yang Feng.”
Li Liushui patted Yang Feng on the shoulder and strode forward.
Yang Feng quickly followed.
As he passed under the arch, an aura enveloped him, identical to the one from the detection orb.
Once his identity was verified, the Qingbei Gate slowly opened.
Night at Qingbei was anything but quiet.
As Yang Feng walked through the campus, he could sense countless energy fluctuations coming from all directions.
These emanations were everywhere.
Li Liushui explained, “These are students practicing their skills.”
Though he appeared stern, Li Liushui was patient with Yang Feng.
Yang Feng asked, “Do skills need to be practiced as well?”
“Of course,” Li Liushui replied. “If you don’t practice, how else will you improve your skill level?”
Yang Feng realized that his suspicions were correct—only through repeated practice could skills be upgraded.
“So by using a skill repeatedly, its level will rise?” he asked.
Li Liushui smiled. “Not always. Some special skills won’t increase in level no matter how often you use them. These are things you’ll learn in detail once you’re at Qingbei—there will be teachers to explain everything to you.”
Improving skill levels was a complex affair, not something that could be explained in a few words.
Yang Feng understood this, so he didn’t press further.
Energy fluctuations never ceased throughout Qingbei University, and colorful lights flickered continuously above the campus.
“It seems that even the students of Qingbei are all exceptionally diligent,” Yang Feng thought to himself in admiration.
