Chapter Thirty-Five: An Unexpected Encounter with Cai Xukun—The Three Join Forces to Clear the Dungeon
He wanted to learn more about the Supergod Major from Ye Mengyan.
At the time, Gu Panpan had only mentioned it in passing and hadn’t explained it in detail. She had told Yang Feng that once he arrived at Qingbei University, he would naturally learn about it.
“As for the Supergod Major, I don’t really know any specific information,” Ye Mengyan said. “I’ve only heard my father mention that the Supergod Major is the most powerful major in all of Qingbei University. Everyone who gets into Qingbei is already a top student, but only the truly exceptional ones can enter the Supergod Major. Getting in is incredibly difficult. I probably won’t have the chance. But I think you might—you should give it a try.”
She looked at Yang Feng in all seriousness.
She genuinely believed Yang Feng had a shot at the Supergod Major at Qingbei. After all, he had taken her through a difficult dungeon in a way she’d never seen before. That method had completely upended her understanding of the game. Now, Ye Mengyan could no longer assess the uniqueness of Yang Feng’s hidden class, the Curse Master.
“If I get into Qingbei University, I’ll give it a shot,” Yang Feng nodded.
If he really got in, he would definitely apply for the Supergod Major.
“Yang Feng, isn’t that Cai Xukun over there?” At that moment, Ye Mengyan pointed excitedly to the entrance of Qingshan Town.
Yang Feng lifted his head and looked over—it was indeed Cai Xukun.
Cai Xukun was standing at the entrance to Qingshan Town, searching for a team.
Seeing this, Ye Mengyan tossed a detection water orb his way.
“I didn’t expect that sissy to have already reached level 12,” she remarked. “It’s just a pity his class is a lifestyle class—Turtle Keeper. It’ll be really hard for him to find a team.”
Cai Xukun’s class was Turtle Keeper, a lifestyle profession. Normally, people with lifestyle classes lived in the city and improved their life skills. Players with lifestyle classes rarely went out to fight monsters or clear dungeons; nobody wanted them in their team.
Sure enough, Cai Xukun tried approaching several people, but no one was willing to team up with him, leaving him looking disappointed.
At this moment, Yang Feng said, “Let’s invite him to join our team.”
“Alright!” Ye Mengyan nodded in agreement.
With that, Ye Mengyan went to call Cai Xukun over.
“Yang Feng, Ye Mengyan, when did you two start getting so close?” Cai Xukun asked with a mischievous grin when he saw them together.
“Cai Xukun, stop talking nonsense or I’ll make you regret it!” Ye Mengyan snapped.
She was notorious at school for her feisty, pampered temperament. Only when she was with Yang Feng did she restrain herself, since he was never one for idle chatter and wouldn’t tolerate her haughty airs.
Now, though, in front of Cai Xukun, her spoiled side exploded.
Startled, Cai Xukun quickly forced a laugh. “Come on, Ye Mengyan, I was only joking. Don’t take it seriously!”
“Don’t bother looking for another team, just join ours,” Ye Mengyan huffed. “Once our dungeon cooldown is over, we’ll take you through it. Before the college entrance exams, we’ll definitely get you to level 13!”
Cai Xukun was overjoyed. “Really, Ye Mengyan? Do you know, the university I want to apply to requires level 13. You two are my lifesavers!”
Ye Mengyan frowned. “Can you be more serious? If you keep acting like this, we won’t team up with you.”
Immediately, Cai Xukun straightened his face. “Don’t worry, Miss Ye, I’ll do exactly as you say.”
“Cai Xukun, what are you babbling about?” Ye Mengyan threatened. “One more word and I’ll deal with you!”
As she spoke, a ball of light formed at the tip of her staff. If Cai Xukun dared say another word, she would hurl it at him without hesitation.
“Alright, alright. How long is your cooldown?” Cai Xukun asked, finally subdued.
Ye Mengyan thought for a moment. “About four more hours.”
Four hours was a bit long, but Cai Xukun knew he might not be able to find a team on his own even in that time.
“Okay, you two rest up. I’ll go grind some monsters outside. Yang Feng, best of luck winning the heart of the campus belle!” With that, Cai Xukun sprinted off.
Furious, Ye Mengyan snorted and hurled the ball of light after him.
Boom!
With a loud explosion, the orb detonated behind Cai Xukun, sending him flying.
“Aaah!” he screamed, scrambling to his feet and fleeing.
“That jerk Cai Xukun, he’s just asking for a beating!” Ye Mengyan stamped her foot and cursed.
Yang Feng was all too familiar with Cai Xukun’s antics. Still, he had to admit, for all his foolishness, Cai Xukun had a decent character. Back in their class, he’d always been close with Yang Feng.
In Yang Feng’s eyes, Cai Xukun was just a clown.
Four hours later, Cai Xukun joined their team.
Yang Feng took the role of team leader, and the three of them entered the difficult dungeon together.
Once inside, Cai Xukun’s knees began to shake in terror. “Yang Feng, why did you two choose the hardest mode?!”
Ye Mengyan snorted, “Cai Xukun, just shut up and stay behind us. Don’t do anything else!”
“Ah…” Cai Xukun was dumbfounded.
Watching him, Ye Mengyan was reminded of her own first time entering a dungeon—her knees had trembled just as much.
Cai Xukun dared not slack off and clung tightly to Yang Feng and Ye Mengyan.
About twenty minutes later, Cai Xukun stared in disbelief at the fallen Wind Wolf King.
“Yang Feng, is that it? The Wind Wolf King is dead already?”
Ye Mengyan shot him a glare. “Don’t make such a fuss. Look at you, so hopeless!”
Cai Xukun gazed at Yang Feng in awe. “Yang Feng, will you take me through dungeons from now on? I’ll stick with you! From today, you’re my boss and I’m your lackey. I’ll call you Boss Yang!”
Ye Mengyan rolled her eyes. “Cai Xukun, can’t you show a little backbone? Even if you are a Turtle Keeper, you don’t have to be so spineless!”
Cai Xukun looked puzzled. “Backbone? What’s that? How much does it cost per kilo?”
