Chapter Twenty: Venturing into the Heart, Battle with the Wind Wolf Chieftain
For most teams, they would choose only one path to proceed. But for Yang Feng, such limitations did not exist. No matter which route, his Crow Warriors were everywhere. The moment a monster was spotted, not a single one was spared. Those that could be killed, he made sure to eliminate.
In less than ten minutes after entering Greenhill Town, a white light flashed around Yang Feng. At last, he had reached Level 13. With the level up, his mental power increased, allowing him to summon even more Crow Warriors to join the battle. Soon, the number of Crow Warriors had risen to sixty.
[Name: Yang Feng]
[Class: Cursist (Unique Hidden Class)]
[Level: 13]
[Combat Power: 150]
[Speed: 150]
[Defense: 100]
[Equipment: Breeze Boots]
[Pet Pack: 60/60, Crow Warriors (60)]
[Talent Skill: Crow’s Tongue (Level 3)]
[Active Skills: Venomous Tongue (Level 5), Summon Crow Warrior (Level 12), Fireball (Level 1)]
[Passive Skill: Damage Transfer—All damage taken by the host is borne by the pets.]
After reviewing his personal stats, Yang Feng nodded in satisfaction. “It seems that after reaching Level 13, my attributes have increased significantly. Whether it’s defense, attack, or mental power, all of them have improved greatly! As my level continues to rise, my personal attributes will also see a dramatic boost.”
Yang Feng understood that with higher levels came higher attributes. With his own attribute growth, the Crow Warriors' stats also improved accordingly. Of course, these increases were within his expectations. However, his Fireball skill remained at Level 1, unchanged.
“What’s going on? Why have my other skills improved, but Fireball hasn’t?” Yang Feng was puzzled. He couldn’t understand why Fireball hadn’t progressed at all. His teachers had never covered this in class, so he was at a loss.
“If Panpan were here, she’d probably know what’s going on!” At this thought, Yang Feng remembered Gu Panpan. She knew more than he did. If only she were here, he could ask.
Without dwelling on it, Yang Feng continued toward the core area. Greenhill Town was a vast network of interconnected roads, each path leading to another. The entire town resembled a massive labyrinth. Yet, all these passages ultimately led to the final destination.
Yang Feng deployed his Crow Warriors along each route, hunting monsters as they went. As the number of monsters slain increased, so did his experience points, and his leveling speed accelerated. Compared to being outside, his rate of advancement had improved noticeably.
By the time he emerged from the passage, the monsters along the way had been thoroughly swept clean.
[Level: 13 (50%)]
In less than an hour, Yang Feng was already halfway to Level 14. The speed of his progression was truly remarkable.
At last, he arrived at the latter half of Greenhill Town’s core area. Before him stretched a wide road, flanked by numerous dilapidated houses. Once homes to villagers, they had since been occupied by monsters. Echoing roars occasionally erupted from within, and the air was thick with the stench of blood.
A massive Wind Wolf blocked Yang Feng’s path. This Wind Wolf was unlike the ordinary ones he’d met before—it stood nearly five meters tall and was almost ten meters long. Without hesitation, Yang Feng hurled a probing water sphere at it.
[Wind Wolf Chieftain]
[Level: 15]
[Attack: 3000]
[Defense: 3000]
[Speed: 3500]
[Mental Power: 1000]
This was the first time Yang Feng had encountered a boss-level monster. Although this was only a minor boss, its stats far surpassed those of ordinary Wind Wolves.
“If even the Wind Wolf Chieftain is this powerful, the final Wind Wolf King must be truly formidable. But even so, my Crow Warriors will not be outmatched! Otherwise, no one would ever clear the Greenhill Town instance!”
It was normal to encounter such monsters in the core area. Generally, the higher the instance difficulty, the higher the required level. Players needed to be stronger than the instance itself to clear it, or else team up if lacking in strength. Most importantly, one’s equipment and skills couldn’t be too lacking, or victory would be impossible.
Very few, like Yang Feng, dared to tackle such an instance solo at Level 12.
Because Yang Feng had thrown a probing water sphere, the Wind Wolf Chieftain was roused. It stood up, towering over six meters high—a colossal figure before Yang Feng. The beast’s eyes fixed on him, its entire body radiating a menacing aura. A wave of terrifying pressure descended upon Yang Feng.
“Attack!” Without hesitation, Yang Feng gave the order. Sixty Crow Warriors surged toward the Wind Wolf Chieftain.
A wolfish howl tore through the air as the Wind Wolf Chieftain unleashed a blade of wind from its maw, slicing through the leading Crow Warriors, severing them cleanly in two. Fortunately, as long as Yang Feng’s mental power sufficed, he could summon unlimited replacements. Otherwise, no matter how many he had, they would have been wiped out.
Seeing this, Yang Feng was shocked. He hadn’t expected the Wind Wolf Chieftain to be able to release wind blades, nor had he ever seen his Crow Warriors cleaved in two before. But his expression remained calm. After all, he still had sixty at his command. Even if a few fell, it was of little consequence.
The remaining Crow Warriors continued their assault on the Wind Wolf Chieftain.
“Feather Arrows!” Yang Feng shouted.
The Crow Warriors unleashed their skills in unison. At once, volleys of feathered arrows shot toward the Wind Wolf Chieftain. The Chieftain howled again and again as the arrows struck, each hit dealing further damage.
Driven mad with pain, the Wind Wolf Chieftain unleashed wind blades in a frenzy, desperate to kill the Crow Warriors. But having learned from the first assault, the Crow Warriors now dodged with greater agility.
