Chapter Ninety-One: The Curse Wheel of Calamity

"I think there's still one major issue left," Chu Yunxi said, turning her gaze to Chen Yi at her side.

"You've unleashed all your strength at once, but General K has no idea who's supporting you from behind. Isn't there a chance he'll mobilize his forces soon to suppress you?"

"Don't worry." Chen Yi smiled calmly, full of confidence. "Personally, I don't have much concern about this matter. I just think we need to make other plans among ourselves. For example, those without combat abilities should be monitoring the battleship's logistics department, ensuring everything runs smoothly. If any problems arise, they can help us promptly. That should suffice."

"Let me take care of that," Chu Yunxi volunteered, stepping forward. "I hope I can do something for you all."

"Relax. I've already reserved that position for you." Chu Yunxi's face lit up with a brilliant smile. She knew her man was the best, always able to give her absolute security at crucial moments.

At this moment, Chen Yaxi pointed to herself. "What about me, brother? Are you not planning to make use of me?"

"Don't worry," Chen Yi said, tapping her cheek and adopting a serious expression. "I have big plans for you, but this time, you can't join in."

"Why not?" The little girl pouted, instantly sulking.

"If you don't let me help, a lot of things won't work out."

"Who told you that?" Chen Yi laughed, gently patting Chen Yaxi's head. "Don't overestimate yourself. We're not the only ones with crystal core powers. Remember, there's always someone greater. I'm not blaming you; I just want you to understand that even the slightest mistake could make things difficult for us in the future. So focus on what you can do right now!"

Chu Yunxi knew well that the little girl's temper was always impatient. Whenever her brother Chen Yi was involved, she’d rush headlong into anything for his sake.

Therefore, Chu Yunxi had another idea. "Since Xi cares so much about you, why not let her stay by your side and protect you?"

Chen Yi tightly gripped Chu Yunxi’s hand and shook his head. "Your power is only defensive right now. Beyond spotting weaknesses, you lack combat ability. That won't do. So I want you to quickly obtain the power from the next Calamity Curse Disk."

"But to be frank, the special ability from the next Calamity Disk will be possessed by more people, so it may not be as effective. You should be mentally prepared."

"I know," Chu Yunxi replied, feeling the truth of Chen Yi's words. The power granted by the Calamity Curse Disk was considerable, but not as overwhelming as the first time.

Still, Chu Yunxi had other thoughts. "Don't you think the strength of this power is related to the offerings? The first time, we sacrificed quite a few selfish people."

Chen Yi nodded. "I've thought about that, but I don't believe that's the only reason. Enough about it. I'll consider it further; you don't need to dwell on it."

After this, Chen Yi immediately began analyzing their surroundings. He knew those strange things would reappear.

The giant Kunpeng was only the beginning; other complex entities would continue to emerge around them, and these had to be taken into account.

"What's wrong?" Chu Yunxi noticed his reaction and approached him.

"It's nothing." Chen Yi shook his head. "I was just thinking about a few things, but they're not important now."

"How could they not be important?" Chu Yunxi protested. "Why can't you be honest with me? Are you worried I'll be scared, so you won't tell me anything?"

"Fool." Chen Yi drew closer, frowning. "It's not that I don’t want you to know. I’m just considering how best to deal with those monsters that cause harm. The giant Kunpeng must protect the smaller one, but our time and energy are limited. We can’t protect them all the time."

"Artificial intelligence can't help?"

Artificial intelligence?

This suggestion sparked a thought in Chen Yi. If they truly used artificial intelligence, it might be possible.

"It's a good idea, but the cost is too high," Chen Yi explained. Artificial intelligence was so rare worldwide that employing it to assist those around him was a challenge.

"Don't get so worked up," Chu Yunxi said with a gentle smile. "Things may be complicated, but I promise if I share my plan, you'll agree."

This piqued Chen Yi's interest. Ever since Chu Yunxi joined him in the struggle for survival after the apocalypse, she'd always shown wisdom and decisiveness.

Now, she clearly had a solution.

"Go ahead, tell me," Chen Yi prompted.

Chu Yunxi began to speak slowly. In her view, artificial intelligence was lacking in their era because people hadn't figured out how to harness other forms of power.

For instance, some discarded items could be repurposed, but that required new participants, especially researchers.

As she spoke, Chu Yunxi glanced at the new members who had recently joined their crew on the battleship.

"I trust there must be at least one miracle-worker among you."

"Sister-in-law, rest assured. I know exactly who the researchers are here!" Zheng Xiaoda pointed at a retreating figure and grabbed his collar.

"Zhang, are you trying to betray us?"

"How could I?" The man called Zhang chuckled awkwardly. "Since I've chosen to join, I won't do anything like that."

"If that's true, stop acting so timid. You're making me suspicious," Zheng Xiaoda warned. "Don't show any sign of insecurity. Right now, Boss Chen is leading us to survive. Just speak your mind, and we'll figure the rest out together!"

Chen Yi nodded. "He’s absolutely right. Your only job is to think about how to change our circumstances!"
