Chapter Seventy-Two: Want to Plunder Them?

Seeing the state of these people, Chen Yaxi was furious.

“A bunch of insignificant ants dare to come after my brother? Watch me!”

She was about to rush forward, but Chen Yi beside her pulled her back.

It wasn’t that he doubted Yaxi’s ability to use the flying shuttle, but because the armored vehicle was loaded with explosives. If Yaxi had acted, both she and the vehicle would have ended up as scattered fragments.

At that moment, the armored tank, heavily armed, stopped in front of Chen Yi and his companions.

A man in a black and gray uniform stepped out.

He barely had time to speak before a red-eyed zombie dropped from the sky, sinking its teeth into his throat.

Though the man retreated in time back into the tank, Chen Yi and the others, well aware of the consequences of a bite from a mutated zombie, knew he was beyond saving.

Lu Kai was stunned. “How can there be red-eyed zombies? This is terrifying! The ones we’ve encountered before were only blue-eyed mutants. But these red-eyed ones seem even faster.”

Chu Yunxi’s Heavenly Eye could clearly see that the zombies’ weakness lay in their eyes, but she was nonetheless deeply concerned.

The blue-eyed zombies they’d faced before were already formidable and showed signs of intelligence.

Now, if these red-eyed zombies posed an even greater threat, perhaps they were facing SS-level slaughter. The red-eyed zombie before them was surely not the only one.

Sure enough, another wave of undead surged forth.

Countless red-eyed zombies advanced rapidly. Even Chen Yi couldn’t immediately use his power to block them.

“What’s the weakness of these zombies? Yunxi, check it out. We’ll distract them.”

With that, Chen Yi, along with Lu Kai and Hu Sanhan, plunged into the horde.

Lu Kai’s power to teleport people and objects proved invaluable, and the trio quickly managed to suppress the zombies that seemed unstoppable moments before.

Yet new problems arose.

The red-eyed zombies could be crushed by sheer force, but they refused to die easily.

Those whose heads were severed began to reassemble, their broken bodies merging anew.

This stunned Yunxi.

She had seen those red eyes take the lives of zombies when lost, yet now, it seemed to have no effect.

At this moment, the armored tank began to move on its own.

Recalling the scene of the man being bitten, everyone shivered.

Clearly, the transformation from human to zombie had already been completed.

“Scatter!” Chen Yi bellowed.

The mutated zombie inside the tank began to drive it wildly, unleashing a barrage.

Luckily, the team members had already scattered, so the fierce attack missed them.

Suddenly, three or five helicopters appeared in the sky above the ocean.

One member of the squad, thinking they’d come to rescue them, waved frantically with delight.

The patrol aircraft above, seeing the situation on the island, flashed a malicious grin and began firing madly in the direction of the waving team member.

Fortunately, Chen Yi and the others had already avoided the area, so only the one who’d exposed himself was killed. The rest survived by luck.

After this incident, Chen Yi harbored a certain resentment towards those they had previously rescued.

These people were utterly brainless, lacking any sense of caution.

Those on the patrol aircraft knew there were more hiding among the rocks, but they had no intention of continuing the fight; more important matters awaited them.

Meanwhile, the mutated zombie inside the armored vehicle continued to operate it, unleashing fierce fire and accelerating.

Seeing the situation worsening, Chen Yi was forced to take a risk.

“Yaxi, I have a plan!”

Yaxi nodded.

“Brother, just tell me what to do and I’ll follow your lead!”

Chen Yi didn’t speak aloud, but leaned in and whispered his plan in her ear.

Once prepared, the two dashed out at lightning speed. To those inside the patrol aircraft and the armored tank, their movements were invisible.

Inside the patrol aircraft, excitement ran high.

The operator quickly opened the microphone to contact his superior.

“Reporting, sir, we’ve located the mysterious little girl!”

The commander immediately issued an order.

“Do your utmost to capture that girl. Remember, don’t let her escape! She’s of immense experimental value for our research on enhancing human genes!”

“Yes, sir!”

As the man ended the call, the wing was suddenly severely damaged.

No matter how he tried to eject or crash-land, nothing worked.

To avoid being blown to bits, he turned the aircraft toward the sea.

Want to survive? That depends on whether I allow it!

Chen Yi raised his double-bladed knife, eyes locked on the target, and hurled it.

Boom—

The explosion’s fiery glow instantly engulfed the man. Yaxi returned unharmed to Chen Yi’s side, winking playfully.

“Brother, it’s good to be by your side. Otherwise, I wouldn’t know how to handle all this!”

Chen Yi reached out, fondly ruffled her hair and pinched her cheek with a smile.

“You’re the capable one, it’s not my doing. Next, I hope you push yourself even harder. Our crisis isn’t over yet!”

Yaxi squinted her eyes again in response.

The patrol aircraft above ceased fire, for their target now stood within their line of attack.

If they fired at Chen Yi, they’d also hit Yaxi, violating their orders to bring her back unharmed.

“Listen up down there—hand over the girl, and we’ll let you die quickly. Otherwise, don’t blame us for leaving you in pieces!”

“Hah, this guy must have left his brains at home!”

Hu Sanhan and Lu Kai laughed, glancing at Chen Yi.

“What now, boss? He’s managed to piss me off!”

Chen Yi scoffed.

“Kill them all. Leave no one alive! If they’re the enemy, there’s no reason for mercy!”
