Chapter Sixty-Eight The Mutated Ancient Behemoth Kunpeng
“No, that’s not right!” Chu Yunxi frowned.
Although she could see blood constantly surging onto the surface of the sea, the monster seemed only intent on intimidation, clearly gauging whether there was danger.
“Xiao Xi,” Chu Yunxi’s eyes hardened with resolve. “Your brother and his group must be busy rebuilding their home right now; they won’t have time to come back and arrange everything for us. We must save ourselves!”
“Okay, I’ll do whatever you say, sister!” Chen Yaxi nodded repeatedly, her gaze clearing.
“Sister, just tell me, I’ll follow your instructions!” Chu Yunxi stroked her little head gently, but inwardly she was calculating how to quickly alert Chen Yi to the situation.
After much deliberation, she made a shocking decision…
Chen Yi and his companions were engrossed in renovating the land when Chen Yaxi suddenly flew in.
A sense of foreboding surged in Chen Yi’s heart. Without a word, he rushed toward the beach.
At that moment, Chu Yunxi was standing with the remaining group, fully on guard, for the crimson tide on the sea was spreading at an alarming rate.
“Yunxi!” Chen Yi strode up, grasping her hand, worry etched in his eyes.
“Why did you act so rashly? Do you realize how dangerous this is?” Chu Yunxi patted his shoulder and smiled softly.
“Why so anxious? You came just in time. But let’s not talk about this now—look at that!” She pointed at the sea.
Tension seized Chen Yi’s heart.
How strange—there was no memory in his previous life of a sea monster that could not be defeated. Had the timeline changed, causing such a massive deviation?
The waves began to churn, the stench of blood crashing against the rocks.
Then, a huge black shadow moved slowly toward the shore.
“All units on alert—move to higher ground! Don’t linger in low-lying areas, or you’ll be slaughtered!”
Chen Yaxi and Chu Yunxi’s spirits plummeted.
Chen Yi had always faced trouble with stability and optimism, but this time his demeanor signaled something was terribly wrong.
Once everyone had relocated to higher ground, the entire sea began boiling as if scalded, and a monstrous creature suddenly burst forth from its depths.
---
At this moment, Chen Yi’s heart froze halfway.
A Kunpeng!
Damn it, how could such a beast appear at this moment? How were they supposed to fight it?
“My god!” Lu Kai and Hu Sanhan trembled in fear. “Boss, what is that? It’s even bigger than a giant whale!”
Chen Yi closed his eyes and pondered a moment before speaking slowly.
“In the Northern Sea, there is a fish called Kunpeng—this beast is the Kunpeng. I thought it was just a legend, but who would have thought it was real.”
“Hey…” Lu Kai’s face turned ashen.
“Boss, you’re joking, right? How could this be possible? The Kunpeng is a life form that surpasses the intelligence of all marine creatures. If it really fights us, we’re doomed!”
“Shut up!” Chu Yunxi snapped, gripping Chen Yi’s hand.
“No matter what, we face this together. So what if it’s the Kunpeng? If need be, we die together! If we do nothing and give up now, that’s the coward's way out!”
A glimmer of hope flashed through Chen Yi’s mind.
Yes, giving up now was as good as walking to their deaths—better to take a risk.
Looking at the Kunpeng, Chen Yi noticed it was not unscathed; its body was riddled with wounds of varying sizes, making its appearance even more terrifying.
Its eyes remained closed.
Chen Yi immediately ordered everyone to remain still.
He was about to exploit the slow movements of large mammals when a piercing scream echoed.
Chen Yi and his group spun around.
The scent of blood from the wounded drew a horde of zombies.
Flanked by wolves and tigers, beset from all sides, even Chen Yi found the situation daunting.
At this moment, two brilliant colors flickered across the seven-colored pattern on Chen Yi’s body.
Before he could react, white toxic light and green poison fused together, spraying violently toward the Kunpeng and the zombies.
Instantly, both Kunpeng and zombies had their skin severely corroded.
Thunderous roars erupted from both.
The Kunpeng’s tail smashed straight toward the hill, but thanks to their timely retreat, Chen Yi’s group avoided being caught in the destruction.
---
The zombies, however, were slower to react, and a large group was crushed under falling rocks.
Now, the situation had changed dramatically.
From facing enemies on all sides, now the Kunpeng’s rampage had decimated the zombies, giving Chen Yi and his group time to plan the next battle.
Having moved far from the Kunpeng, Chen Yi now had a clear plan in mind.
“Everyone must stay calm. The enemy we face is unprecedentedly powerful. It’s obvious that using our own strength to destroy the Kunpeng is irrational and impossible.”
Lu Kai and the others looked troubled.
“So what do we do? If we don’t get rid of the zombies and these monsters, we’ll suffer too!”
“Hold on, I’m not finished.” Chen Yi smiled calmly, his eyes resolute.
“We haven’t reached the point of despair yet. Remember, each stage of the zombie horde is our best weapon!”
At these words, everyone understood Chen Yi’s thinking.
Fight fire with fire—zombies versus Kunpeng. No matter who wins, the other side would take a heavy blow.
Survival depended on taking a risk now!
“Hu Sanhan, you’re in charge of feints, luring zombies into the Kunpeng’s line of sight. Lu Kai, you attack from a distance—aim for the Kunpeng’s eyes. Without vision, we can use its hearing to create confusion with noise from multiple directions.”
“Yes!”
With each side taking a group of comrades to their assigned tasks, Chen Yi gripped his blade.
“I’ll draw the Kunpeng’s attention head-on!”
“Brother!” Chen Yaxi’s eyes brimmed with fear.
“I don’t want you to die—you can’t die!”
“Don’t worry!” Chen Yi smiled again.
“How could I die? Yaxi, your brother will survive with all of you! Now, at this critical moment, no one can run away. Your task is to protect Yunxi. Since the Kunpeng has appeared, I believe the second round of the Wheel of Calamity is about to arrive!”
“Really?” Chu Yunxi immediately moved closer.
“You’re that certain?”
