Chapter Fifty-Five: Exploration of the Supply Isle

After the preparations were complete, Chen Yi gathered everyone and announced the next plan. “We must investigate the small island to the southeast.”

“However, the base needs someone to guard it, so I’ve decided to leave two-thirds of our people here.”

He looked over the faces of the group and continued, “The remaining third will accompany us, ready for any battle that may break out.”

Hu Sanhan nodded in agreement. “You’ll take the lead this time, and our forces will be the main strength.”

“Don’t forget, this island is one of the keys.”

Chen Yi smiled. “Brother Hu, this expedition will earn you first-class merit.”

Everyone nodded, their doubts dispelled. After all, the timely return of the spoils had given them hope.

Chen Yaxi watched as Chen Yi assigned tasks and cried out, “Brother, I want to go too! I can help kill many monsters!”

Chen Yi turned, his gaze gentle. “Yaxi, this mission is dangerous. I’m worried…”

But Chen Yaxi’s face was resolute, her voice young but firm. “No, I want to fight with you all. I’ll protect everyone!”

“She’s right,” Lu Kai chimed in. “With Yaxi, our chances are better.”

Chen Yi was silent for a while.

He hadn’t intended to let Chen Yaxi join the second battlefield. After all, she had just expended so much energy and likely hadn’t fully recovered. If anything unexpected happened, he would hate to see it.

But, seeing his sister’s determined face, he finally made up his mind. “Alright, but you must listen and not take unnecessary risks.”

“I promise!”

Chen Yaxi nodded, a joyful smile blossoming on her face.

The time for action had arrived. After a few hours of rest, Chen Yi organized an elite squad, gathered the necessary weapons and supplies, and boarded the warship, heading toward the small island in the southeast.

“Just ahead lies our target island. Stay alert and keep formation,” Chen Yi instructed calmly.

The atmosphere on the ship grew tense. The sea breeze swept across their faces, now heavy with determination. Though the midday sun hung high, the waters seemed darker than usual.

“Brother, there’s something wrong ahead,”

“I see huge figures moving beneath the water.”

Suddenly, Chen Yaxi hovered in the air, her white wings beating.

A cold glint flashed in Chen Yi’s eyes as he quickly ordered, “Everyone, prepare for battle. Do not advance recklessly!”

Hu Sanhan gripped his golden saber tightly, his voice grave. “It seems this island isn’t simple. We must be even more cautious.”

Soon, the island came into view, revealing dense jungles and towering mountains.

As the ship touched shore, a cacophony and strange movements immediately caught their attention.

“After landing, maintain formation. Search quickly for resources and safe zones.”

“We may face enemy attacks,” Chen Yi warned quietly, his eyes fixed ahead.

The group carefully disembarked, with Chen Yi and Hu Sanhan leading, Lu Kai and others guarding the rear. Chen Yaxi stayed close behind Chen Yi, ready to fight at any moment.

“Look! There’s movement over there!”

Suddenly, a team member pointed toward the depths of the jungle, his voice tense.

Chen Yi said nothing, motioning for everyone to take cover.

One by one, they slowly approached the source of the disturbance.

Deep in the jungle, an ancient structure appeared, and at the same time, a massive shadow moved slowly toward them.

“It’s a mutant giant!” Hu Sanhan whispered.

A look of caution flickered in Chen Yi’s eyes. He gripped his twin-bladed sword and calmly ordered, “Lu Kai, take some men and flank them. Brother Hu, face them head-on with me.”

“Yaxi, scout the situation from above!”

No sooner had he spoken than battle erupted.

Chen Yaxi spread her wings and soared, scouting the targets from high above.

“Brother, there are more than expected. Three in total!” Yaxi called out.

Chen Yi gathered his strength and charged at the first mutant giant, his twin blades gleaming as he struck a fierce blow to its leg.

Though he couldn’t sever it entirely, the giant crashed heavily to the ground.

Hu Sanhan was not to be outdone; his golden saber cleaved through a blocking tree as he lunged at another mutant giant.

The two giants collided ferociously, making the earth tremble.

“Be careful, everyone, don’t get distracted by the fight!” Chen Yi reminded the group as he continued to attack the fallen giant, giving it no chance to recover.

With Chen Yi and Hu Sanhan leading, the group worked together.

Yet when the monsters began to counterattack, the battle became far less manageable than they had hoped.

The giant zombies roared in fury, their voices booming, as if the whole island shuddered.

“They’re harder to deal with than the zombies we’ve met before!” Hu Sanhan shouted as he swung his golden saber, warning the others.

The blade sliced through the air with a whistling sound, every strike leaving a bright trail.

Chen Yi sneered, unbothered. “No matter how tough, they can’t stop me!”

He darted like lightning, quickly circling behind a mutant giant and bringing his twin blades down in a diagonal slash.

The giant’s skin, tough as armored scales, sparked beneath the blade. Though not a fatal blow, it sent the giant into a furious howl.

Lu Kai, leading a group from afar, launched a flanking attack. His gaze was resolute. “Don’t give them a chance to retaliate—attack with everything you’ve got!”

“Understood!”

The team responded in unison, and their weapons rained down on the giants like a storm.

Gunfire and explosions mingled, plunging the battlefield into chaos.

Meanwhile, Chen Yaxi remained vigilant as she soared above.

Her white wings carried her swiftly through the air, her agile flight allowing her to survey the situation below.

“Brother, watch out for the giant behind you!” she shouted.

A giant zombie was silently approaching Chen Yi’s position, its massive form hidden among the trees.

Chen Yi’s brow furrowed as he reacted swiftly. “Everyone, regroup with me! The enemy is launching a second wave!”

The giant zombies, driven by some primal instinct, began gathering toward Chen Yi and his comrades.

Their steps were heavy as thunder, every stride pressing the ground deeper.

“Damn it, they’re coordinating their attack.”

Hu Sanhan said grimly.

He swung his golden saber again, attempting to distract the giant zombies, but with little effect.

“Yaxi, get ready to strike!”

Chen Yi commanded calmly, knowing that if his sister didn’t step in now, they might face an even greater crisis.

“Understood!”

Determination flashed across Chen Yaxi’s face. She drew a deep breath, gathering her will as her hands shaped the flying shuttle.

As her power concentrated, the shuttle gradually formed in her palms.
