Chapter Fifty-Two: The Outbreak of a Terrifying Battle!
“Damn!” Chen Yi suddenly let out a low growl, gripping the walkie-talkie in his hand tightly.
A thought flashed through his mind like lightning: “Fish in the ocean can mutate as well, and they become extremely powerful!”
Chen Yi whipped around to face the others, his voice stern. “Everyone! Without my orders, do not leave your rooms under any circumstances.”
“No more moving between buildings—stay within your own designated area.”
“If your supplies are running low, report to me first, and I’ll arrange for distribution!”
At once, everyone’s spirits were roused, realizing a new crisis was at hand.
No one questioned Chen Yi’s decision, for he was the soul and leader of this utopian enclave.
Chen Yi then used the walkie-talkie to notify the residents in the other buildings. “All combat team members, be ready at all times! The enemy we’re about to face will not be easily defeated!”
“Mutated monsters from the sea?”
At that moment, Lu Kai, who had received the message via walkie-talkie, repeated Chen Yi’s words in confusion, his face growing pale.
He had no desire to clash with such monsters, and in his heart, a subtle fear took root.
Chu Yunxi followed close behind Chen Yi, her voice tinged with anxiety. “Chen Yi, just how serious is the threat from these mutated creatures? Can we handle it?”
Chen Yi gently patted her shoulder, giving her a look of unwavering resolve. “Yunxi, it’s fine. We’ve made it through worse than this, haven’t we?”
“As long as we work together, no demon or monster is beyond our means.”
“This time, it won’t be easy, but once those mutated fish come ashore, their fighting power will decrease.”
Hearing this, Chu Yunxi finally relaxed a little.
Hu Sanhan stood off to the side, steady as a mountain, and said, “Get ready for battle. It looks like it won’t just be the mutated fish this time—there could be worse things out there.”
Time ticked by in this tense atmosphere.
The strange orange-red glow grew eerier and more dazzling, casting the entire base in a light reminiscent of the first day the apocalypse arrived.
Only Chen Yi knew that although this scene looked like the dawn of the apocalypse, it didn’t signal another wave of mutations among the people.
Instead, it meant that under these red clouds, even more mutated species would appear!
At the same time, the Wheel of Calamity would also descend.
This was a crisis, but it would also be an opportunity!
In the distance, the waves surged, as if brewing a tremendous storm.
Lu Kai stood at the window, staring out at the mist-shrouded sea, a tide of fear rising in his heart. “Now that the rain’s suddenly stopped, will those monsters in the sea seize the chance to attack us?”
At that moment, Chen Yaxi squeezed in, a hint of innocence and fearlessness on her face. “Brother, we’re definitely going to beat those bad things, right?”
Her wide eyes sparkled with hope as she looked up at Chen Yi.
He stroked her little head gently and replied, “Of course, Xiaoyaxi. You have to believe in me.”
Suddenly, several massive columns of water erupted from the distant sea, white spray towering into the sky with an intimidating force.
The black shadows of mutated fish flickered in the water, their sharp fins occasionally breaking the surface, as though ready to launch a deadly assault at any moment.
“This is bad. The mutated fish are on the move!”
Hu Sanhan frowned at the sea, exchanging a glance with Chen Yi.
Chen Yi raised his hand decisively and commanded, “All combat team members, prepare for battle! Follow my lead!”
He gripped his double-edged blade tightly, ready to face the inevitable conflict.
The red clouds thickened, the sky pressing down oppressively.
The fins of the mutated fish sliced through the water, their shadows fierce and menacing.
A pungent, bloody stench filled the air, stabbing at everyone’s senses like thorns.
“Everyone, hold your positions. Do not rush forward—defense first!”
At Chen Yi’s order, everyone raised their weapons, eyes locked on the sea with nervous anticipation.
But the situation was even more complicated than they had imagined.
Just as they braced their defenses, strange creatures began to swarm from the distant piles of rocks.
These beings weren’t large, but their speed was enough to make one’s heart race.
“It’s not just mutated fish in the sea, there are things on land too!”
Lu Kai cried out, deep worry in his eyes.
“These could be mutated crabs or other kinds of sea creatures. Everyone, be careful!”
Chen Yi raised his double-edged blade, and in the glow of the red clouds, his figure looked particularly resolute.
Chu Yunxi edged closer, her voice urgent. “Chen Yi, how are we supposed to deal with so many mutated animals?”
Chen Yi turned to glance at her and ordered, “Go back inside. Until we return, don’t come out!”
Moments later, a gigantic shark burst from the spray and charged ashore.
It was at least twice the size of a normal shark, its terrifying teeth gleaming with a cold light. Its jet-black body resembled a phantom in the night, and its blood-red eyes burned with a savage, murderous frenzy.
“Damn, this thing looks like serious trouble.”
Hu Sanhan gripped his golden broadsword, a hint of caution in his gaze.
“This is a feast. Everyone, spread out!”
Chen Yi issued his orders coolly, tightening his grip on his double-edged blade, his eyes growing even more intense.
Chen Yaxi clung to her brother’s coat, fear in her eyes, but even more, trust in Chen Yi.
She spoke to him with a touch of apology. “Brother, I… I’ll try my best not to hold you back.”
Chen Yi stroked her head gently, his voice soft. “Xiaoyaxi, you’ve done very well. As long as you take care of yourself, I’ll have nothing to worry about.”
“When we charge in, if you can control the shuttle, use it for a sneak attack—don’t face it head-on.”
“Okay.”
Xiaoyaxi nodded to show she understood.
By then, Hu Sanhan had already moved to confront the rampaging shark.
With a loud shout, he brought his golden blade down hard, clashing directly with the shark’s teeth—a screech of metal rang out.
Hu Sanhan staggered back two steps; clearly, the creature’s strength had exceeded his expectations.
“Damn it, this thing is insanely strong!” Hu Sanhan gritted his teeth, a fierce determination in his eyes.
“Everyone, attack together—watch out for its bite!” Chen Yi ordered, and he and Lu Kai leaped forward.
Lu Kai quickly found a good vantage point, set up his sniper rifle, and took aim.
Bang—
A shot rang out, and the bullet tore through one of the giant shark’s eyes.
Blood spurted instantly, staining the ground red.
As the shark’s tail lashed out, Chen Yi dodged swiftly and, seizing the moment, slashed with his double-edged blade, severing one of the beast’s fins in a spray of blood.
The shark let out a furious roar, thrashing wildly in an attempt to break free of Chen Yi’s assault.
“Everyone else, use explosive arrows to disrupt its other line of sight!” Chen Yi shouted.
The surrounding team members quickly snapped out of their fear.
Seeing their leader fight so valiantly for their sake, they refused to shrink back as well!
