“He’s currently on the main target’s vehicle—it appears he’s unharmed.”
“The target’s on the move again. Looks like they intend to continue forward.”
Hearing this, Chu Yunxi’s voice came through cold and steady from the other end, “Everyone, maintain surveillance, but do not act rashly.”
“Understood!”
The voice echoed through the walkie-talkie.

Meanwhile, inside the Radiance Base.
Hu Sanhan had been sitting anxiously in his office, awaiting news from the front lines. At that moment, a subordinate burst in through the door. “Boss, the Madman is almost here.”
Hu Sanhan sprang to his feet, his expression tinged with excitement. He barked, “Notify all the brothers—get ready! We’re about to face a great battle!”
The moment his words rang out, the entire Radiance Base erupted in a fervor. Those brothers who had once suffered under the Madman’s oppression clenched their fists, their eyes blazing with the fires of vengeance.
“This time, we can’t lose again!”
“That’s right! We’ll show that bastard we’re not to be trifled with!”
...

Five minutes later, the Madman gave a wave, and the convoy pressed forward.
Standing by the convoy, Chen Yi narrowed his eyes, scanning the surroundings. Suddenly, he noticed something unusual at a window in a nearby building.
Someone seemed to be signaling to him.
Alerted, Chen Yi feigned nonchalance and nodded slightly. Upon receiving the signal, the team from New City Base began to move.

Suddenly, a gunshot shattered the brief calm.
Bang—
At the front of the Madman’s formation, a member was struck down, blood instantly staining the ground.
Everyone froze for a moment, then chaos broke out.
“There’s a sniper!” Iron Wolf growled, quickly assessing the scene.
The Madman’s face turned ashen. He whipped his head toward Scorpion. “Go find out what’s going on!”
Scorpion nodded and immediately led a few men toward the source of the gunfire.
Chen Yi seized the chance to edge closer to Iron Wolf and whispered, “What now?”
Iron Wolf shot him a cold glance. “Don’t move. Wait for orders.”
By now, the Madman had drawn his pistol, his gaze sharp as an eagle’s as he swept the area.
His fury was nearly tangible. “Who dares stir up trouble on my turf?!”

On the other side, Scorpion and his men quickly searched the vicinity and soon found signs of an ambush.
He turned back and shouted, “Boss, there’s an ambush here! We’re surrounded!”

Hearing this, the Madman’s face grew even darker, his teeth gritted. “Looks like someone really has a death wish.”
With that, he raised his weapon and unleashed a wild barrage at the windows of a nearby high-rise.
Rat-tat-tat-tat—
Bullets rained down like hail, shattering the glass and sending shrill shards spraying through the air.

At the same time, the Radiance Base team sprang into action.
Hu Sanhan himself had moved to the front lines, mounting his weapon and bracing for the Madman’s advance.
Chu Yunxi, meanwhile, issued orders through the walkie-talkie.
“All units, the target is exposed. Commence the attack!”
“Understood!”
The responses came in perfect unison.

Scorpion and his men fought back fiercely, but with the enemy hidden and themselves exposed, his anger only deepened.
“Damn it, we’ve all been played!” he spat, his gaze sweeping the area before finally landing on Chen Yi.
His eyes narrowed in suspicion, his tone icy. “Chen Yi, did you know about this ambush all along?”
“How could I have known? I came here with you,” Chen Yi replied with a shrug, his expression unchanged.
“You didn’t know?”
“You were the one who suggested we move forward. Are you sure you didn’t know?”
“I have reason to believe you’re actually a traitor!”
Scorpion continued his tirade, his weapon now trained on Chen Yi.
Hearing this, the Madman also turned to Chen Yi, his pistol lifting slightly in his direction.
“Tell me honestly—did you ever intend to surrender in the first place?”

Facing this threat, Chen Yi remained perfectly calm. He looked steadily at the Madman and spoke in an even tone, “There’s nothing wrong with continuing forward.”
“If the enemy has set an ambush, so much the better. We can use this chance to wipe out their main force—then it’ll be easier to take over Radiance Base.”
“Either way, even if they surrendered peacefully, we’d still have to deal with Hu Sanhan and his loyalists eventually. Isn’t this the perfect opportunity to finish it all at once?”

A flicker of doubt crossed the Madman’s eyes, and he hesitated.
After all, he had personally brought Chen Yi in—if Chen Yi was a traitor, it would be his own failure.
But with no hard evidence, he was unwilling to make a hasty decision.
“You make it sound so easy.”
“But if we’re wiped out in this ambush—what then?”
The Madman let out a cold laugh, his accusation clear.

Chen Yi met his glare without flinching and sneered, “We’ve come this far. There’s no turning back.”
“Rather than worry, we should strike first and wipe them out.”
Scorpion snorted. “Easy for you to say. What if you really are a traitor?”
Ignoring the provocation, Chen Yi looked only at the Madman. “Boss, I trust your judgment.”
“If you think I’m a problem, kill me now.”
The Madman’s finger tightened on the trigger, but at last he relaxed and lowered his gun.
He spoke in a deep voice, “Fine… I’m a madman, and so are you. If you’re willing to take that risk, I’ll take it with you.”
“Everyone, get ready. Move forward! Kill them all!”

The team nodded and prepared themselves for the coming battle.
Scorpion’s mistrust hadn’t faded—his gaze was cold as he warned, “I’ll be watching you. Don’t even think of trying anything.”
Chen Yi merely smiled and said nothing.

By now, the firefight had grown fiercer; bullets howled through the air, flashes of light bursting everywhere.
Suddenly, the ground began to tremble violently, as if some enormous beast was drawing near.
“What’s going on?” The Madman’s brows knitted in confusion as he glanced around.
“Is it an earthquake?” a member cried in panic.
“No, it’s not an earthquake!”
“Something’s coming!”

Chen Yi quickly sensed something was off.
Just then, a massive horde of zombies surged into view, flooding toward them like a tidal wave.
At the sight, everyone involuntarily sucked in a sharp breath.
“Damn it, that’s a lot of zombies!” Scorpion cursed, his face turning pale.

Chen Yi rapidly assessed the situation. It must be the sudden gathering of so many people that triggered the zombie tide in this area.
But this seemed to be more than a simple zombie tide.
Scanning the swarm, his eyes fell on a monstrous zombie over three meters tall.
This creature was far larger than any ordinary zombie, bulging with muscle and covered in a grotesque gray-green hide.
“What the hell is that?” the Madman blurted, his eyes wide with shock.
