At that moment, Chen Yaxi noticed a man in the crowd frantically scratching his head. He looked extremely unwell.

She hurried forward, frowning.

“What happened? Why are you—”

“Look out!”

Chen Yi yanked Chen Yaxi aside. Tens of thousands of mutant rats suddenly surged from nowhere, charging straight at them.

“Oh my God, what the hell is that?”

Lu Kai and the others activated their flight abilities, dodging the danger while cursing the mutant rats that had appeared out of nowhere.

There were countless mutated creatures in the world, but these disgusting things were truly beyond their ability to accept.

The mutant rats were bright red from head to tail, and their claws were several times sharper than those of ordinary rats. Anyone they touched would likely end up dismembered.

“Just how twisted is this X Organization?”

Lu Kai cursed as he dodged the attacks.

“Mutant sharks were already bad enough, and now they’ve created these things too. Are they trying to disgust us to death?”

“Don’t panic!”

Chen Yi shouted, frowning.

“I don’t think the situation is necessarily as bad as it looks. Think about it. They’ve released so many strange creatures. Wouldn’t those creatures become obstacles for them as well?”

“Boss!”

Lu Kai could not help shouting.

“They don’t care if they die, so what do they have to lose? Shouldn’t we just charge in and wipe them out once and for all?”

“Don’t be reckless!”

Chu Yunxi frowned as she continued analyzing the data.

Based on her research into the mutant rats, she could clearly tell that their mutations had not been caused by human abilities.

In other words, their mutations had resulted from consuming some substance found in nature, which had triggered genetic changes.

Those words left everyone utterly dumbfounded.

Chen Yi approached Chu Yunxi with a grave expression.

“What kind of impact do you think this will have?”

Chu Yunxi shook her head, her expression still solemn.

“Given the current situation, we can’t determine the outcome with complete certainty yet. But overall, it doesn’t look promising.”

That single sentence instantly shattered Chen Yi and the others’ remaining composure.

If the outlook was unfavorable, it meant that matters could continue developing in an even worse direction.

At that moment, the rats shrieked again. The zombies that had previously come to a halt suddenly began moving as well.

“This is bad!”

Hu Sanhan and Lu Kai frowned.

“The rats are controlling the zombies. From the way things look, the rats have command of the entire situation.”

“Exactly!”

Chen Yaxi was filled with worry.

“These things are terrifying just to look at. They should never have existed.”

“But they do exist now.”

Chen Yi reminded them all, his gaze resolute.

“Since their existence has become a fact, we can no longer ignore them. I’ll test their strength. Be careful, everyone!”

With that, Chen Yi charged forward without hesitation, his twin blades flashing as he struck at incredible speed.

The rats died on the spot, but soon rose again as zombie rats. Chu Yunxi and the others quickly realized that these zombie rats were even more terrifying than they had imagined.

They moved in perfect unison, and their bite force was faster and far more powerful than before they had been revived.

The zombie rats were, quite simply, absurdly overpowered.

Now, great swarms of them began circling Chen Yi, and unease spread through the group.

“My God!”

Even Halls, the half-man, half-snake creature, had begun to panic.

“How did these rats become so terrifying after gaining intelligence?”

“They’re not merely terrifying. They’re vicious.”

Velo’s gaze was icy, and his fists were clenched tightly.

He had encountered this kind of troublesome mutated creature before, so he knew all too well how easily such beasts could destroy an entire team.

If Chen Yi had not possessed multiple supernatural abilities, he probably would not have been able to withstand them either.

Everyone’s heart was in their throat.

The swarm continued launching ferocious attacks, showing no sign of stopping.

“Brother is in danger!”

Chen Yaxi rushed forward to help, but Chen Yi immediately blocked her.

Unable to stop herself in time, Chen Yaxi crashed into him, painfully striking her nose.

“Brother, why did you suddenly do that?”

Chen Yi tapped her on the nose and shook his head with a faint smile.

“It wasn’t sudden. I was going to stop anyway. Why are you being so impulsive, little one? These things won’t be easy to deal with.”

Hearing that, Chen Yaxi refused to accept it.

“Even if you’re right, can’t we defeat them if we work together?”

“Perhaps.”

Chen Yi released seven beams of light from his body, his eyes turning cold.

“That was only an appetizer. Now we’re going to see what they’re really made of. Yaxi, we’ll attack from the left and right. Sanhan, Kai, you take the upper and lower routes. Everyone else, hold back the zombies from behind!”

After a pause, Chen Yi turned to Chu Yunxi.

“Wife, keep looking for this thing’s weakness. Once you have an answer, tell us immediately!”

Chu Yunxi nodded.

“No problem. Leave it to me.”

Once they had settled on their respective directions of attack, Chen Yi breathed a sigh of relief and quickly struck alongside Chen Yaxi.

This time, Chu Yunxi was not afraid.

All she needed was to confirm that Chen Yi could bring all his strength together and survive.

In the end, Chen Yi was simply too loyal and righteous, which was why he was always finding himself in trouble.

If Chu Yunxi could have turned the situation around, she would have acted long ago instead of waiting until now.

The people from the X Organization were watching with eager anticipation.

They had never expected Chen Yi to be so tenacious.

They had kept their eyes on him for so long, yet had still failed to find an opportunity to strike. Their frustration was turning into fury.

The black-clad man leading them even began to suspect that there was a hidden traitor among his own people.

Without one, he absolutely could not believe that he would have suffered such a complete defeat.

Furious, he fixed his eyes on the group before him.

“Did you do something behind my back?”

The people who had followed him for years immediately burst into laughter.

“What do you think we could have done? Boss, we’re not trying to contradict you, but you’re being ridiculous. We’ve risked our lives and worked ourselves to the bone for you. And what have you done?”

Those words left the man awkward and speechless.

The man who had led the X Organization in its fight against Chen Yi closed his eyes and drew a deep breath.

“There has to be a reason we still haven’t defeated our opponent. That’s why I need to investigate the situation carefully.”

“Have you investigated yourself?”

Several of them instantly turned his own words against him, sneering as they shook their heads.

“If you’ve forgotten to investigate yourself, then I’m afraid we have nothing more to say!”
