The Blue Zombie nodded. “All right. I’ll take care of it at once!”
Just then, Little Kunpeng looked anxiously at his father while tugging at Chen Yi’s arm.
“How is my father now? Will he be all right?”
“Don’t worry.” Chen Yi smiled at him, his gaze resolute. “Nothing will happen to him. You can rest easy.”
“That’s good.”
Little Kunpeng nodded, but then turned his eyes toward the sky once more.
“It’s still raining poison outside. Are you really all right staying here with us? The enemy may still be nearby. Why don’t you leave us behind? As long as we’re alive, we’re a threat to you too.”
“What nonsense are you talking about?”
Chen Yaxi walked over and patted Little Kunpeng on the head, looking every inch the self-appointed big sister.
“I may be young, but since you’re about the same age as my little brother, I can’t just stand by and not protect you. Whoever they are, if they dare lay so much as a finger on you, I’ll make sure they die without a complete corpse.”
“That’s right.”
Little Kunpeng grinned.
“With Big Sister here, I don’t have to worry.”
By then, the sky had grown increasingly dark, and the zombies advancing relentlessly toward them were multiplying as well.
Chen Yi’s brows drew tightly together. It seemed their opponent had no intention of stopping, yet their target did not appear to be them.
He turned his head toward Big Kunpeng, and a thought began to form in his mind.
So their target is my friend.
Chen Yi had always harbored deep hatred for anyone who tried to harm his friends. Now that he knew what his enemy was after, his feelings grew even more complicated.
Fine. They certainly have nerve, daring to set their sights on them. Since they insist on doing something so foolish and so utterly unreasonable, they cannot blame me for showing no mercy.
Clenching his fists, Chen Yi charged out of the cave. Amid the torrential rain, he swiftly slaughtered the approaching zombies, then searched for those that had fled, following them toward the organization truly directing them to kill.
“This is bad.”
The Red Zombie’s subordinate hurriedly reported the news.

“Chen Yi is pursuing us!”
“Useless trash!”
The Red Zombie, Pete, glared at them with blazing fury. “Can’t such a huge horde of zombies hold off a single Chen Yi?”
A zombie that had only just escaped death trembled violently.
“We’ve already died once. Of course we don’t want to die again. The look in that man’s eyes was like that of a god of slaughter. If we hadn’t run fast enough, there wouldn’t have been anything left of us.”
Pete raised his head again, his eyes turning sharp.
“Even if he is powerful, you can’t simply abandon me like this. What do you think you’re doing by leaving now? Don’t forget—your lives belong to me.”
“So what?”
The zombies began retreating one after another.
“We’ve risked our lives for you long enough. It’s time for us to leave. Don’t even think about controlling us.”
Watching the foolish zombies flee in every direction, Pete’s face turned livid.
“Fine. You’re truly something else.”
The Blue Zombie was secretly delighted. The more people who fled, the more of them would be transferred to his side.
Big Kunpeng had already lost the ability to react. Sending an invisible zombie to abduct him should pose no problem.
With that thought, the Blue Zombie, Jack, dispatched an invisible zombie.
What he did not know was that Chen Yi had already scattered phosphorescent powder throughout the surrounding area. Anything that touched the powder would be revealed, though the person affected would remain completely unaware of it.
When Chen Yi saw the foolish zombie actually enter the area, he nodded toward Lu Kai. Lu Kai immediately opened fire. The tremendous barrage sent the invisible zombie flying, and once its power faded, it reverted to its true zombie form.
Seeing that its body could be pierced, Chen Yi realized that invisibility offered no defense at all. He immediately called out to Hu Sanhan.
“Strike now. Sanhan, cut him down at once. Don’t give him a chance to regenerate at high speed!”
Hu Sanhan nodded, then roared and brought his blade down with all his strength. In an instant, the zombie was cleanly slain, and three crystal cores burst from its body.
“Take them.”
Chen Yi nodded toward him. “Sanhan, this power suits you.”
“Thank you, Boss.”
Hu Sanhan accepted the crystal cores, then turned his gaze outside.
“Boss, do you think more of these reckless fools will come?”
“I don’t know.”
Chen Yi shook his head lightly, his brows still tightly furrowed.
“At a time like this, we can’t be certain whether there are higher-level unknown life-forms among them. But one thing is clear: our opponent has gone to great lengths to deal with us. From now on, we must be even more cautious. Remember, unless absolutely necessary, never let them discover our trump cards.”

Trump cards?
A zombie hiding nearby heard those words and secretly rejoiced.
So Chen Yi and the others were still concealing other abilities. He had to hurry back and tell the boss.
But before he had gone very far, a chill suddenly brushed across his neck.
When he turned around, he saw Chen Yi standing behind him. The speed had caught the zombie completely off guard.
“You zombies really are impossible to shake off.”
Chen Yi swept him with an expressionless glance and gave a mocking laugh.
“I truly hate enemies who eavesdrop for no reason. Isn’t this sort of petty behavior disgusting?”
The zombie did not dare move. Chen Yi’s twin blades were pressed against his vital point; the slightest push would mean annihilation.
Of course, Chen Yi did not miss the zombie’s reaction. He asked calmly,
“Now, are you going to honestly tell me what exactly you’re planning?”
The zombie knew that it would be killed no matter what it said, so it simply put on an indifferent expression.
“If that’s all you wanted to ask, you can forget it, because I…”
Without hesitation, Chen Yi chopped off its head and incinerated it in blazing flames.
“An uncooperative zombie has no reason to remain alive.”
“But now we know nothing.”
Chu Yunxi frowned.
“Judging from that zombie, it hadn’t even reached the third tier. So how did it possess human intelligence?”
“It’s simple. A drug.”
Chen Yi pointed to the pool of blood on the ground.
“A normal zombie wouldn’t have blood with this kind of coagulation. Blood like this is generally the result of a mutation caused by taking a drug.”
Chu Yunxi took out a syringe and drew a sample of the blood from the ground.
“Since these are mutated zombies, there’s a great deal we need to do. First, we must determine the composition of the drug. Then we can manufacture samples that cause blood coagulation and test them in actual combat. That will make things much easier for us!”
