“Get out of the way!”

The giant zombie let out a furious roar and repeatedly pounded its chest with its fists, looking as though it intended to fight every one of them to the death.

Chen Yaxi swiftly dodged through the air, preparing to strike again and finish the creature off.

However, the zombie was even faster. It had already anticipated her move and sent Chen Yaxi flying with a single punch.

Lu Kai rushed over and caught the battered girl, his heart jolting with alarm.

How could a zombie possess strength greater than Chen Yaxi’s?

Although Chen Yaxi was still a child, her power ranked among the very best of them. Yet something had now managed to injure her so easily and so severely. The realization left Lu Kai both enraged and deeply shaken.

Chen Yi had reached the same conclusion. He had never imagined that anything could surpass Chen Yaxi in strength. Anger slowly began to burn in his eyes. He had not expected that, even at a time like this, they would encounter a creature capable of transcending all limits and defeating little Chen Yaxi.

He flew swiftly to her side and frowned tightly at the wounds on her face.

“How are you, Xiaoxi? Does it hurt badly?”

Chen Yaxi was in considerable pain, but not wanting everyone to worry, she obediently shook her head.

“It doesn’t hurt. Don’t worry about me.”

The more she insisted, the more distressed everyone became. Once again, they turned their fierce gazes upon the giant zombie.

The creature, however, wore a smug smile.

It seemed its guess had been correct. This little girl was their weak point.

A sly glint appeared in the zombie’s eyes. “Well? What do you all intend to do to me? Unfortunately, every one of your calculations has gone wrong.”

“Stop gloating.”

Chen Yi slowly clenched his fists and began walking forward step by step. The force radiating from his eyes grew increasingly obvious.

“You think you’ve already won?”

Sensing that something was wrong with Chen Yi’s attitude, the giant zombie began to feel uneasy.

“What… what are you planning to do?”

Before the words had even faded, the creature was beaten mercilessly once more.

Chen Yi moved with swift, overwhelming force, giving the zombie no opportunity to recover. Just as it slowly raised its head, Chen Yi drove two more punches into it, leaving the giant zombie dizzy and staggering to the ground.

When it managed to rise again, Chen Yi struck with a flying kick that knocked away its upper teeth.

“Boss, you’re incredible!”

Everyone immediately broke into thunderous applause. At a moment like this, their wholehearted display of support was more than enough to lift their morale.

After witnessing Chen Yi’s formidable strength, the zombie began to grow afraid. It realized that it had badly misjudged him.

This is bad. I’m going to die this time.

Chen Yi caught the fear in its eyes and let out a contemptuous laugh.

“It’s too late to beg for mercy now.”

“Wait!”

The zombie shouted, a trace of certainty in its eyes.

“You can’t hurt me. If you do, I guarantee that I’ll make sure you perish without leaving so much as a trace! Chen Yi, I still have a trump card!”

At this point, Chen Yi no longer cared whether the zombie truly possessed some hidden method. All he knew was that it had hurt Chen Yaxi, the girl everyone cherished.

“This thing is finished!”

The twin blades in Chen Yi’s hands began spinning rapidly. Before the giant zombie could react, he hurled them forward.

The zombie failed to dodge in time, and its left arm was severed instantly.

Blood gushed from the wound as the zombie released a horrifying roar.

Still, it had absorbed the abilities offered through the sacrifices of countless zombies. Though its arm had been cut off, its regenerative power was extraordinary. Its severed left hand began slowly growing back.

Hu Sanhan and Lu Kai exchanged a glance, then immediately roared and attacked the giant zombie from the right.

But the giant zombie had been prepared. With a furious bellow, it kicked directly at Lu Kai and Hu Sanhan.

Fortunately, Hu Sanhan’s golden blade moved quickly enough to block the attack. Otherwise, the two of them would have suffered badly.

“Your reactions are pretty sharp, but you won’t keep getting this lucky!”

The giant zombie spun again and struck at Lu Kai with its right hand.

Lu Kai raised his machine gun and unleashed a furious barrage, his eyes filled with grim resolve.

“You want to kill me? You’re still nowhere near good enough!”

Hu Sanhan intensified his assault as well. His golden blade moved with tremendous force, carving deep wounds across the giant zombie’s body. Yet this was still nothing—the real show was only just beginning.

Chu Yunxi, who had always cared most deeply for Chen Yaxi, now released the supernatural ability she had gained through her recent evolution. A flute melody capable of ensnaring the mind immediately seized control of the zombie.

The wonder of the melody was that the zombie could sense it was being manipulated, yet no matter what it did, it could not evade its influence.

“What… what’s happening?”

The giant zombie’s eyes bulged wide, and its breathing grew ragged.

“Am I really going to die here?”

Just as Chen Yi was about to deliver the final blow, the people from the X Organization suddenly threw smoke bombs. Taking advantage of the confusion, they rescued the zombie and carried it away.

“Damn it!”

Hu Sanhan angrily lifted his head.

“If you have the nerve, come out and face us openly! Stop hiding like cowards—it’s disgusting!”

“So excitable. You have none of Chen Yi’s composure. It seems I thought too highly of you.”

As the cold voice rang out, crimson light emerged. A moment later, the red zombie appeared once more before Chen Yi and the others.

With a cold laugh, the red zombie’s eyes gleamed with sly amusement.

“I’m genuinely curious. How did a group like you manage to make even getting angry require so much consideration?”

“Hey!”

Lu Kai planted his hands on his hips, fury surging into his eyes.

“You’re being incredibly rude!”

“And what if I am?”

The red zombie remained arrogant, its gaze repeatedly challenging Chen Yi.

“Before you harm one of my kind, you’d better consider carefully whether you truly possess the ability. The X Organization is not merely using us zombies. It is also being used by us.”

Those words plunged Chen Yi into thought.

If what this creature said was true, then countless matters concealed hidden dangers. The X Organization and the zombies were so closely entangled that it was becoming impossible to tell them apart. That meant the distinction between humans and zombies was steadily fading.

And in time, the meaning of being human would diminish as well.

Chen Yi immediately raised his twin blades. His gaze hardened, and he charged straight at the red zombie.

As the two finally clashed, a flicker of excitement flashed through the red zombie’s eyes.

“At last, the time has come for me to face you directly!”

Chen Yi was slightly surprised. “You knew all along that I would fight you?”
