Chapter 140: If You Are Not Ruthless, How Can You Survive?
"You are vicious!"
Wang Tingzhi glared at Chen Yi with deep resentment, his fists clenched tight. He clearly could not fathom how he, who had always been the one in control of the situation, had suddenly fallen into such misfortune upon encountering this man. Taking a deep breath, Wang Tingzhi immediately pulled out a whistle and blew it.
In an instant, a pack of zombies rushed toward Chen Yi without hesitation.
"Boss, watch out!"
Lu Kai quickly braced his AK-47 and began to fire, his eyes cold as he stared at the scum before him. "Don't think you can do anything to my boss. As long as I'm here, no one will touch him!"
Meanwhile, near the warship, Zhou Sheng began to harbor treacherous thoughts. With Chen Yi, that powerhouse, currently absent, he felt he might actually have a chance if he made a move. He began to murmur to those around him.
"I say, everyone, we can't just sit here and wait to die. As the saying goes, as long as the green hills remain, we need not fear..."
A pistol was leveled at Zhou Sheng. Chu Yunxi didn't even blink, a sneer curling her lips. "What? Because my husband isn't here, you think we're all sitting ducks ripe for the taking?"
Zhou Sheng swallowed hard, terror gripping his heart, but he summoned the courage to look up and retort, "Woman, don't do anything rash. If that gun goes off, people are going to die!"
"I know people are going to die!"
Smiling again, Chu Yunxi fired a shot directly into his left leg. The excruciating pain instantly sent Zhou Sheng collapsing to his knees. Watching the man howl, Chu Yunxi showed no mercy, her voice frigid.
"I forgot to tell you: as Chen Yi's woman, I will never bow to anyone. You tried to incite those people to rebel right in front of me—did you really think I would spare you?"
"We wouldn't rebel!" the group nearby protested with solemn oaths. However, Chu Yunxi cut them off.
"I trust no one but my husband, so don't bother making promises to me. As long as you fulfill what you promised him, that is enough. I am not a cruel or bloodthirsty person, but I will never allow anyone to threaten my husband."
As she spoke, she turned her gaze back to Zhou Sheng. "Speak. How do you want to die?"
Zhou Sheng finally realized that Chu Yunxi was not playing games; she was truly going to end his life. He collapsed heavily to the ground, kowtowing repeatedly, while slapping his own face.
"I'm sorry! I was wrong! Please, spare me! I promise it will never happen again!"
"Again?" Upon hearing that word, a murderous light ignited in Chu Yunxi's eyes. "Do you think I'm going to give you an 'again'?"
Realizing his slip of the tongue, the man slapped his face hard again, his voice filled with chagrin. "Wrong! I misspoke! There won't be a next time, I just..."
"Enough," Chu Yunxi said, firing another shot into his other leg. "Consider this a small lesson for a grave transgression. But if I find you pulling any more stunts, you will bear the consequences yourself."
She turned away, clenching her fists. "It seems my husband really needs to do some housecleaning and get rid of the trash."
The words were harsh, yet no one dared to argue. They knew all too well that this woman possessed the capital for such arrogance. Chen Yi, that god-like existence, gave Chu Yunxi all the confidence she needed.
"Big Sister is so cool!" Chen Yaxi cheered from the sidelines, making faces at the men. "Trying to fight my sister? You guys are just pathetic!"
"Alright, that's enough." Chu Yunxi gently tugged the little girl's hand, her expression softening. "Let's end this here. I don't want to waste any more breath on them."
"Okay, I'll listen to Big Sister!" The girl nodded vigorously, her eyes firm. "I'll do whatever Big Sister says!"
Zhou Sheng was filled with agonizing regret. He had never expected things to turn out this way. If he hadn't been so isolated, he would have made his move long ago—he had never suffered such humiliation. Yet now, he dared not do a thing; one wrong move and he would lose his life.
Struggling to his feet on his wounded legs, Zhou Sheng offered a fawning smile. "Please, just let me stay. I'll even be your dog if you want."
Chu Yunxi wrinkled her nose in disgust. "I know I have to keep you, but watching you grovel and demean yourself so willingly is truly sickening."
"It doesn't matter anymore!" Zhou Sheng laughed, casting all caution to the wind. "Everything is gone anyway, isn't it?"
At that moment, Chen Yi finished the battle. He and Lu Kai brought back Wang Tingzhi of the X Organization, tossing him heavily onto the deck of the warship.
"Husband!" Seeing Chen Yi return unscathed, Chu Yunxi was overwhelmed with joy and rushed toward him.
Chen Yi stepped forward and pulled her into his arms. "It's alright. I'm safe."
Chu Yunxi wept with relief, nodding repeatedly. "That's good. I was so afraid something might happen to you."
"Silly, nothing could happen to me!" Chen Yi smiled, but his eyes drifted to Zhou Sheng, who was nursing his gunshot wounds.
Although he didn't ask, Chen Yi knew Chu Yunxi's character well; if she had taken action, it meant the man had truly been asking for death. He turned toward Zhou Sheng, ready to settle the score, but Zhou Sheng immediately knelt again. At this point, dignity meant nothing compared to survival.
"Boss, I was blinded by greed! I shouldn't have tried to ambush you! Please, spare me!"
"Ambush? You?" Chen Yi laughed.
As he walked forward, he sheathed his dual blades, his gaze piercing. Beads of sweat rolled down Zhou Sheng's forehead; he had completely lost his composure. Just as he thought he was doomed, Chen Yi raised a single hand, releasing a burst of radiant light that, in an instant, healed the man's wounds.
"Yi!" Chu Yunxi frowned. "Why save him?"
Chen Yi waved his hand, his expression calm. "I'm not saving him. I want him to go out there and see for himself whether he can survive once he leaves us."
So that was it! Chu Yunxi immediately understood that Chen Yi was ready to let this man experience the true meaning of hardship.
Zhou Sheng was stunned. Leaving this place would be no different than walking to his own execution—he would surely die. Thinking of this, he shook his head frantically. "No! You can't kick me out! I have nothing left; if you make me leave, you're killing me!"
"Enough!" Chu Yunxi sneered. "That wasn't your tone when you were trying to rebel! Stop the act!"
