Chapter One Hundred and Sixteen: Adjusting Combat Strength, Chen Yi Begins the Counterattack
At this stage, Chen Yi began preparations to split the force in two.
“Lu Kai, Harris, Hu Sihan,” Chen Yi said, “from now on, you are responsible for taking Great Kunpeng and Little Kunpeng to find higher ground and a new territory. Gather all the supplies from the original island and consolidate them, then we can abandon it.”
“Okay.”
Harris, Lu Kai, and Hu Sihan nodded and answered, “We’ll do it right away!”
“Wait.”
Chen Yi paused and then turned his gaze to the zombie monkey.
“Take five hundred zombie monkeys with you. Remember, if you meet opposition, do not hesitate to kill them.”
Turning back, his eyes fell on the Xisilian.
“You—go with us. Yunxi, Yaxi, Sun Dawei. We’ll check whether the Xisilians truly need rescue. If rescue is truly possible, a little help is no great matter. If not, we retreat immediately.”
“Understood.”
At that moment the Zombie Monkey King yawned and scratched his head.
“Boss, can’t you be straightforward and let me get a real job to do?”
“Don’t rush,” Chen Yi said with a faint smile. “For the remaining five hundred-plus zombie monkeys, you will personally handle formation drills and the encirclement of the undead. Raw brute force won’t work. I’ll draw up a plan later, and all you need to do is follow it.”
“Great!”
The Zombie Monkey King’s eyes brightened. “Now this is interesting.”
After finishing that, Chen Yi looked up at the sky.
“By the timing of the last wave, another attack will come in half an hour. Everyone, take care of yourselves—fight to stay alive.”
Lu Kai and the others nodded, then left with Great Kunpeng and Little Kunpeng.
As for Chen Yi, he turned his full attention back to the Xisilian.
“I’m taking you there now, but if your people truly want to slaughter innocents and loot supplies, don’t blame me for not being gentle.”
The Xisilian gave a polite answer with his mouth, yet in his heart he was unconvinced. Once they reached their territory, whatever they wished to do would go exactly as the Xisilians thought.
At this point, the Xisilian did not directly oppose Chen Yi’s plan, but he had a fresh scheme in mind.
Yunxi, feeling uneasy, immediately pulled Chen Yi aside.
“Ayi, don’t you think it’s dangerous to let this man lead us there?”
Chen Yi answered with a calm smile.
“There is some risk, yes, but I know there are things that must be done. If the Xisilian people can keep so many companions alive, it means human civilization has a much better chance of surviving.”
Though Chen Yi’s thinking was sound on a broad level, Yunxi still felt restless inside.
A companion who might betray at any moment—is he really suitable for all of us to support?
On top of that, one had to be ready for zombie attacks in times of peril; being attacked from both front and rear often leaves the battleline unstable.
At that, a sharp edge flickered in Chen Yi’s eyes.
“The Xisilian may be exactly the one most likely to be watched by Organization X. I’m going there to launch an attack on Organization X.”
Chen Yaxi and Yunxi stood beside Chen Yi in thought, and gradually grasped his meaning.
Only by reading the opponent’s deepest card could one remain untroubled in a hundred battles.
Thinking it through, this group of Xisilians who could withstand several zombie assaults and preserve so many survivors must have been hiding some unknown secret.
So at this moment, many things had to be done, and the first was to find out whether the Xisilians had any dealings with Organization X.
The warship, under Xisilian control, slowly moved toward the direction where his people were.
Although the pace was slow, Chen Yi saw nothing abnormal for now, so he did not fuss over it. But halfway there, he felt the Xisilian seemed to be about to do something else. Chen Yi immediately gripped his double blades, ready to act.
Sensing the heavy murderous intent behind him, the Xisilian immediately turned and looked at Chen Yi in panic.
“Boss, please don’t hurt me. I swear I have no hidden intentions.”
Chen Yi gave a bitter laugh. “You think I’ll believe you just because you say so? This route doesn’t look like it leads to Xisilia. Do you think I don’t know where Xisilia is? Don’t try to fool me.”
At those words, the Xisilian showed a bitter expression.
“Though what you said is true this direction is wrong, our place there was destroyed long ago. We moved somewhere else. If you don’t believe me, investigate it yourself, but I repeat: we have done nothing deceitful.”
“Destroyed?”
Chen Yi’s brows tightened. “Then why didn’t you tell me earlier? Be clear with me now—what exactly happened?”
“Because I still couldn’t tell if you trusted me, so I couldn’t tell you directly.”
The man spoke with unusual confidence, his eyes steady.
“I know you still have resentment toward me. Otherwise you wouldn’t have asked me these things yourself. But I assure you, I have no selfish motive in any of this.”
“Enough.”
Chen Yi cut him off. “No matter what your thoughts are, you need to decide right now whether you want to cooperate with me.”
The Xisilian had not yet answered when he was frozen by Chen Yi’s gaze.
In that instant he realized Chen Yi probably already knew his scheme and had only stayed silent until now.
If that were true, everything he had just done was nothing but a farce.
To Chen Yi, the Xisilian was a flamboyant clown, merely acting out a performance.
After taking a sharp breath, he dared to lock his eyes on Chen Yi and asked, “So you already knew what kind of person I am. You only wanted to see how far I could go?”
“Of course.”
Chen Yaxi gave a light snort and shot him a look, sticking out her tongue.
“If it weren’t to test where your limits are and what abilities you possess, how could we have let you live this long? The schemes you’ve made against us—I know them all. Where do you expect to lead us now?”
“Fine, I’m done for—I admit it.”
After hearing Chen Yaxi’s words, the man who had kept insisting he was loyal shook his head in surrender.
So that was it. He had had a huge plan all along.
Chen Yaxi turned to her brother and said, “Brother, now you can do something to him…”
“No, no need,” Chen Yi replied, composed as ever. “We can set this man’s matter aside for now. You know I never strike at others lightly, but when I do, it is fatal. It is not the moment yet. Wait a little longer.”
