Chapter One Hundred and Six: A Disaster Made by Human Hands?

“Brother, you’re amazing!”

Chen Yaxi clapped in delight. She had known it all along; at the crucial moment, Chen Yi would not fail to come.

Chu Yunxi felt a sting in her nose as well.

“You’re finally here!”

Chen Yi turned back with a faint smile. “Relax. I won’t leave you to face this alone.”

With that, he cast a cold glance at the horde of undead.

The zombies had lost some of their earlier ferocity, but they still refused to retreat.

Clearly, they feared Chen Yi, yet would not yield so easily.

Seeing these lifeless monsters so stubborn, Chen Yi could not help but let out a scoff.

At this rate, if he could not cut them all down today, then they would really have to...

“Boss, look at the markings on these zombies. Don’t they look like the X Syndicate’s signature sign?”

The moment Zheng Xiaoda spoke, Chen Yi froze for an instant. Then he took it seriously and looked closer. It was indeed so.

“Good. The X Syndicate has fallen so low that it now keeps company with zombies... No, that’s not right.”

Chen Yi quickly rejected his own conclusion.

From the scene before him, this was not zombies and humans living together. Rather, humans were fully exploiting zombies as weapons.

Those markings could not possibly have been placed on the zombies unless one got close enough to them. That alone proved that there were experts within the X Syndicate.

Seeing Chen Yi fall into thought, Chu Yunxi immediately stepped closer.

“What’s wrong? Is there something off about this?”

Chen Yi smiled.

“Don’t worry. I was only considering the X Syndicate’s ultimate goal. I keep feeling they are not trying to save all humanity.”

Lu Kai, Hu Sanhan, and the others all froze.

After expending so much effort and suffering so many losses, could the X Syndicate still be pursuing something even more outrageous?

If so, they were indeed horrifyingly extreme.

Noticing everyone’s reaction, Chen Yi quickly waved a hand.

“Don’t worry. I understand how difficult this is, but with me here, nothing will happen to you.”

“We believe you!”

Everyone nodded in unison.

Meanwhile, the zombie monkeys defending the flank wore expressions of deep frustration.

“Are you forgetting that we’re fighting and protecting you with our lives too?”

Seeing how wronged the monkeys looked, Chen Yi immediately understood.

“Sorry, I didn’t consider that carefully enough.”

“Forget it!”

The monkey waved magnanimously.

“After all, I’m the most remarkable Monkey King. I won’t hold it against you.”

Just then, the warship lurched violently.

With a thunderous crash, everyone tensed.

When they saw the mutated giant electric eel appear before them, Lu Kai’s mouth fell open.

“What, what is this? Even the eels have turned into this? My god, doesn’t that mean its electricity has multiplied by the hundreds or thousands?”

“Exactly!”

Chen Yi nodded and immediately raised his twin blades.

“No choice. Since this thing has shown up, we can’t ignore it. Move! This is the only way!”

With that, he unfurled his wings first and shot straight toward the eel.

Chen Yaxi was about to follow, but a hand held her back.

Chu Yunxi shook her head.

“Your strength isn’t enough to deal with that opponent. You can’t go.”

Chen Yaxi grew anxious.

“Sister, if my brother goes up there alone, I’m afraid something will happen!”

“Who said he was going alone?”

Chu Yunxi smiled faintly.

“Look, so many people are all thinking about protecting your brother.”

Lu Kai, Hu Sanhan, Zheng Xiaoda, and Sun Dawei also surged forward, not caring whether they could actually help or not. None of them held back.

Watching this scene, Chen Yaxi finally let out a breath, her eyes slightly reddening.

“That’s great. Everyone is protecting my brother!”

“That’s right.”

Chu Yunxi sighed inwardly.

They were friends who had survived life and death together. How could they not step forward at a time like this?

Although facing these strange creatures now felt somewhat suspicious, in the end, they still had to do it.

Before Chen Yi’s blades even touched the eel, the giant electric eel had already begun releasing an intensely powerful high-voltage current, making it clear that it intended to test Chen Yi head-on.

Turning around, Chen Yi shifted his gaze to the zombie monkeys.

“This thing shouldn’t affect you. You exist between the normal and the abnormal, and the power formed within you should be able to resist electricity.”

“By rights, your judgment is correct.”

When the zombie monkey said this, Chen Yi understood its meaning as well. “What, you don’t want to help?”

Shaking its head, the monkey smiled.

“It’s not that I don’t want to help. It depends on your sincerity.”

Chu Yunxi frowned. “Didn’t you say you wanted to be our friend?”

“That’s not certain.”

The zombie monkey revealed an extremely sly smile.

“We’ve always been cunning. Our stance changes according to the situation and the circumstances. Whether you believe that is your business, isn’t it?”

“Despicable!”

Chen Yaxi stamped her foot in anger, but Chen Yi waved her off and looked at the zombie monkey again.

“Since you have other ideas, just say so. If I can help you achieve them, I will. But don’t make trouble without reason.”

Hearing this, the zombie monkey immediately nodded.

“Fine. Since you’re so sensible, I should naturally fight for you as well. How about this: we’ll scout the way ahead now, and you can wait here for our good news!”

With that, the zombie monkeys fearlessly led their companions toward the electric eel.

Watching this, Chu Yunxi turned to Chen Yi beside her.

“And you’re really backing him?”

With that, Chen Yi again cast his gaze toward the zombie monkeys fighting the eel in the distance.

“At the very least, where our hands cannot reach, they are invincible.”
