Chapter One Hundred: Absolute Defensive Power Wins the Fourth Round of the Calamity Curse Wheel

Chen Yi did not give him any more time to ramble. With a single stroke of his sword, he severed the general’s hat cleanly. Confronted with mortal danger, the man who had just been so arrogant instantly wilted, retreating in fear and shoving his own soldiers forward.

“Go! Kill him! Quickly!” he shouted.

If these low-ranking soldiers could object, they would have fled long ago. Now, they gazed at their master with utter despair, seeing that he shamelessly intended to use them as scapegoats.

“What are you waiting for?” the general barked, slapping several of them hard across the face. He squinted, speaking again with menace. “If you don’t give me an explanation today—kill that mysterious man—I’ll make sure you all pay. I’m telling you, here, I make the rules.”

Just then, a colossal wheel appeared in the sky.

“What is that…” Upon recognizing the object, the general’s face broke into a smug grin. He knew that whenever this thing appeared, some people would gain extraordinary powers. Eagerly, he strode forward, unaware that he was marching to his death.

Chen Yi glanced at Chu Yunxi and smiled faintly. “Someone is volunteering for sacrifice? If we don’t give him a hand, wouldn’t that be rather unkind of us?”

Chu Yunxi giggled, then followed Chen Yi, giving the general a swift kick and sending him into the sacrificial array.

As the general was torn apart by countless forces, the people on the warship scattered and fled in terror. Yet their speed was no match for Chen Yi and Chu Yunxi, who quickly caught and threw them into the wheel’s sacrificial array.

Watching the dead pile up, Chen Yi’s face remained cold and impassive. At times like this, there was no need for mercy; he only needed to chart out his own path and ensure his comrades survived.

So many members of the new combat squad had already died. He could not allow the remaining ones to face death alongside him!

As the number of sacrificial victims reached a critical threshold, the wheel emitted a golden radiance. This time, the light spread far and wide—not only enveloping Chen Yi and his companions, but also sweeping across the ocean and all its creatures.

Even those whose legs had been broken in battle found themselves drawn into the beam, undergoing dramatic transformations.

When the light finally faded, Chen Yi noticed that his squad seemed unchanged in body, yet there was something strange he could not quite place.

“Boss, I feel like my body is rock-hard!” Lu Kai exclaimed, rapping his chest with his fist and discovering it was as tough as stone.

Hu Sanhan, however, was different. His body had become soft as cotton, yet when he stretched, it could elongate without limit.

Chen Yi began examining his limbs, but no matter how he looked, he found nothing unusual. He sighed in disappointment.

“Looks like I didn’t…”

“Brother, your shadow is gone!” someone cried.

Chen Yi spun around quickly and saw that his shadow had detached itself, becoming a tangible clone.

“Amazing, Chen!” Hu Sanhan and the others were full of excitement.

“With two of you, who could possibly stand against us? We’ll crush our foes in no time!”

“Don’t get ahead of yourselves,” Chen Yi said, raising a hand. “I don’t know how to use this power yet, so for now I won’t…”

“You’re that timid?” a deep voice drew everyone’s attention.

Accompanied by the sound of leather shoes on the deck, a hat-wearing officer stepped onto Chen Yi’s ship. He regarded Chen Yi with a sneer.

“Chen Yi, you probably never imagined that the man who fell just now was my brother, whom I’ve long wanted dead. Now that he’s gone, I can openly claim his identity and position!”

“What does that have to do with whether I use my power?” Chen Yi replied, refusing to play along. He suspected this man had other schemes.

The officer advanced slowly, his gaze full of challenge.

“Listen well: from now on, you must all obey me. Otherwise, I can reverse time and trap us in endless cycles of the past. Don’t think of killing me, because now I am one with time itself.”

“What did you say?” Chen Yaxi and the others were stunned. It sounded as if his ability was linked to some aspect of time.

Chen Yi’s expression turned icy.

“Are you planning to use this power to harm others?”

“Harm others? You overestimate me,” the officer’s gaze grew colder as he fixed Chen Yi and his group with a provocative look.

“Whether I consign you to endless misery is my decision. What you must face next are matters of life and death. You won’t even listen to my words?”

“You alone are not worthy to be my opponent,” Chen Yi retorted, swinging his blade. But no matter how he tried, the movements were interrupted by strange pauses, and in the next instant, the blade was poised at his own neck.

“Don’t!” Chu Yunxi cried out in anger, glaring at the perpetrator, her body trembling.

“What gives you the right to make such decisions?” she demanded.

The officer clicked his tongue, humming dismissively.

“What’s the rush? Isn’t your man so capable? Let him find his own way out—why ask anything of me?”

Chen Yi remained unruffled. Though the blade was at his throat, this place was not ruled by the officer alone; there were others with powers and the ability to control time.

Sure enough, Chen Yaxi quickly unleashed her willpower, breaking the man’s attack and staring coldly at the officer.

“Anyone who hurts my brother will die,” she declared.

The officer laughed derisively.

“Little girl, you have no idea the extent of your abilities. You think you can challenge me? How absurd!”

Chen Yaxi ignored him, instead using her flying shuttle to entangle him at high speed.

“If you don’t break the illusion, I’ll kill you right here!”

The officer raised his chin, ready to resist, but in the next moment suffered brutal retaliation as his arm suddenly caught fire.

It turned out that as the officer attacked, Chen Yaxi had used her shuttle to ignite flames.

With a scream, the officer leapt into the sea, engulfed in fire.

“Haha! He got what he deserved!” Lu Kai laughed heartily.

“So arrogant—he was bound to die quickly! With Xiaoxi around, time reversal doesn’t matter at all!”
