Chapter Thirty-Two: Liu Yifei’s Tagalong
Looking at the little one in his arms, a rare glimmer of tenderness appeared in the old man's eyes.
"Hahaha, my precious grandson!"
The old man hugged the little one, spun around, and laughed heartily.
"Waaaah!!!"
The little one, who had just fallen asleep, was startled awake by the laughter and burst into tears.
"Old fraud, do you even know how to look after a child?"
Chen Siyuan himself didn't know how to raise a child either, but that didn't stop him from mocking the old man.
The old man ignored Chen Siyuan and continued to happily tease the baby. Perhaps it was fate, but the little one soon began to giggle under the playful coaxing of his godfather.
"Senior brother really loves this little one."
You Qingqing appeared beside Chen Siyuan before he noticed.
"Aunt, is Xiaoli asleep? Is she all right?"
Chen Siyuan turned his head, refusing to look at his "defector" of a son.
"Yes, she's asleep. You don't need to worry. The medicinal meals of the past few months weren't for nothing; although her vitality was slightly depleted, she will recover quickly."
"Thank you for the trouble, Aunt."
That was good; the backup plans he had prepared wouldn't be needed. You Qingqing nodded, then watched with a smile as the old man played with the baby. The little one was full of vigor—his cries were loud, and his laughter was just as boisterous. He was truly extraordinary by nature.
Just as Chen Siyuan was feeling a twinge of jealousy, the old man finally stopped teasing the child.
"Alright, take him inside to feed; my big grandson is hungry!"
The old man returned the baby to Chen Siyuan and hung a jade pendant identical to You Qingqing's around the boy's neck. Chen Siyuan habitually retorted, "Old fraud, is this jade pendant something you bought in bulk from the sect?"
The old man glanced at Chen Siyuan without a word. Chen Siyuan was only joking, so he carried his eldest son back into the room to find Liu Xiaoli for feeding.
Hearing their son's cry, Liu Xiaoli opened her eyes. "Is he hungry? Bring him over, I'll feed him."
Chen Siyuan carefully placed his son into Liu Xiaoli's arms. He then watched intently as she lifted her clothes and offered her breast to the boy.
"Lucky brat," Chen Siyuan muttered.
Liu Xiaoli couldn't help but laugh and cry at the same time. "You, how can you even be jealous of your own son?!"
***
Three years passed in the blink of an eye.
It was time for school to let out at Douglasdon Middle School.
"Goodbye, Crystal!" "See you later! Zehan!"
Amidst the greetings of his classmates, Liu Yifei walked out of the school. Three years later, Liu Yifei had fully grown into the "Fairy Sister" image she was known for. Because of her practice in sword dancing, her temperament was far beyond what it had been in her previous life. Wherever she went, she was the center of attention.
However, the reason Liu Yifei was the focus of everyone’s attention at this moment was also due to the little shadow that never left her side: Chen Zehan.
He wore a tailored black suit, his hair slicked back, and dark sunglasses on his face. He looked like a miniature version of a bodyguard! This was Liu Yifei’s younger brother, the son of Chen Siyuan and Liu Xiaoli.
Thanks to Chen Siyuan’s "guidance" from an early age, Chen Zehan had begun his duties as his sister's personal "protector" as soon as he turned three. He couldn't be chased away, and he couldn't be deterred; wherever his sister went, he went. When his sister went to school, he followed. Chen Siyuan had even had to pull some strings to get Chen Zehan enrolled early. Fortunately, Chen Zehan was clever from a young age and actually passed the entrance test for Douglasdon Elementary School.
At first, Liu Yifei had been driven crazy. This wasn't protection; it was like being forced to act as a nanny! But as time went on, Liu Yifei grew accustomed to it. The key was that her brother was truly adorable. At Douglasdon, Chen Zehan was even more popular than Liu Yifei. After all, there were differences in aesthetics between the East and the West. The "Fairy Sister" in the eyes of the Chinese was just "so-so" to the foreigners. Plus, after being classmates for so long, even the most beautiful person became ordinary. But a little kid like Chen Zehan was a completely different story. He was the type of kid who charmed everyone regardless of age or gender.
Bidding farewell to his enthusiastic classmates, the two siblings walked toward the car waiting for them. Nowadays, Chen Siyuan’s bodyguards were the ones picking them up. Before getting in, Chen Zehan stepped forward and held Liu Yifei back. He then went through Chen Siyuan’s "pre-boarding procedure," solemnly circling the car before opening the door for Liu Yifei to climb inside, then getting in himself from the other side.
"Uncle Stone, you can drive now!" Chen Zehan said with a serious face.
The car started. Liu Yifei tapped Chen Zehan beside her. Chen Zehan immediately took off his sunglasses and turned to her, full of excitement.
"Sister, was I cool?"
Liu Yifei nodded. "Very good. I'll tell Dad when we get home that you completed your protection duties perfectly today!"
"Yay!" Chen Zehan’s eyes lit up, and he high-fived Liu Yifei.
Stone, who was driving, was a retired veteran from China and one of the veterans among Chen Siyuan’s bodyguards. Seeing the interaction between the siblings in the rearview mirror, he smiled slightly. In a way, Chen Zehan was his half-disciple. The boy had asked him many questions about how to become a qualified bodyguard. He had originally thought the kid was just playing around, but he soon discovered the little one was serious. Although Chen Zehan still had the heart of a child, he carried out his security duties in a very professional manner.
They finally arrived home. After the car came to a stop, Chen Zehan even knew how to open the door for Liu Yifei. For other three-year-olds, this would be an incredibly difficult task, but Chen Zehan did it as a matter of habit.
Chen Siyuan and Liu Xiaoli stood at the door, watching their children get out of the car. Liu Xiaoli reached out and pinched Chen Siyuan’s waist. Look at the good work you’ve done! You’ve really trained your son to be a tiny bodyguard for your daughter!
Chen Siyuan winced, but his face was filled with satisfaction. Wasn't the whole point of having this brat to protect his sister? From the looks of it, the brat was doing a great job!
That old fraud had truly performed a deed of infinite merit! Because the old man had started teaching Chen Zehan martial arts when he was just one year old, the boy's constitution was far superior to that of an average person. And because he had been practicing alongside the old man since he was one, after two years, Chen Zehan’s mastery of the "Nameless Fist" had, according to the old man, already surpassed Chen Siyuan’s.
If this were a real sect where strength was the ultimate authority, Chen Siyuan would have to call his own son "Senior Brother" by now!
"Dad, little brother completed his protection duties perfectly today!" Liu Yifei stepped forward to give her daily report. There was no helping it; her father only accepted her reports.
Chen Siyuan nodded with a smile. Chen Zehan took off his sunglasses and removed his black suit jacket. The little "black-clad bodyguard" was off the clock.
"Dad, take me to see Grandpa this weekend," Chen Zehan said after changing his clothes, walking up to Chen Siyuan. "The fist technique Grandpa taught me is wrong!"
"The fist technique is wrong?" Chen Siyuan felt his head spin.
