Volume Two: New Challenges Chapter Twenty-Seven: The Mysterious Item

After escaping the Dark Castle, Liu Joy and his companions were exhausted in both body and spirit. Yet instead of resting at once, they decided to find a safe place to settle down. They came to a nearby town, where the people regarded their arrival with both curiosity and awe. After all, they had just escaped from the terrifying Dark Castle and successfully thwarted the plot of the Black-Robed Man.

At the town’s tavern, everyone gathered around a large table. They ate simple food while discussing their plans for the future. Suddenly, Liu Joy remembered the tremendous power displayed by the artifact during his battle with the Black-Robed Man in the Dark Castle. He placed the artifact on the table and examined it carefully.

It looked no different from before, but Liu Joy knew that it must still conceal many secrets waiting to be uncovered.

“How much power do you think this artifact still holds that we know nothing about?” Liu Joy murmured as he gazed at it.

“Who cares?” Tiger Woman cut in. “It helped us defeat the Black-Robed Man. That’s enough for me.”

Princess Holly shook her head. “I don’t think it’s that simple. Since this artifact was left behind by a great hero of ancient times, there must be much about it that we do not understand. Perhaps it can help us overcome even greater dangers.”

The Daoist Master Mysterious One nodded in agreement. “The princess is absolutely right. We must not be satisfied with a single victory. We must continue uncovering the artifact’s secrets and strengthening our abilities.”

As they discussed the artifact, the tavern door was suddenly flung open. A ragged old man rushed inside. His eyes were filled with urgency and fear. The moment he saw Liu Joy and the others, he hurried toward them.

“You… You came from the Dark Castle, didn’t you?” the old man asked breathlessly.

Liu Joy nodded. “Yes, old sir. What is it?”

The old man swallowed nervously. “I… I discovered something strange in the forest near the castle. It gave off a mysterious light, as though it possessed immense power. I was afraid to approach it, so I came to tell you.”

Liu Joy and his companions exchanged glances. They immediately realized that this might be a new discovery. Perhaps the mysterious object was somehow connected to the artifact.

“Old sir, could you take us there?” Liu Joy asked.

The old man hesitated, then nodded. “All right. I’ll lead you there. But be careful. That thing looks dangerous.”

Liu Joy and the others followed the old man to the forest near the castle. Deep within the woods lay a small lake. At its center stood an island, and the mysterious light seemed to be emanating from it.

“That is the place,” the old man said, pointing toward the island. “The light is coming from a stone house on it.”

Without the slightest hesitation, Liu Joy and his companions used their various abilities to fly across the lake and land on the island. They cautiously entered the stone house and discovered a huge crystal sphere inside. It radiated a gentle glow, and images seemed to flicker constantly within it.

Liu Joy stepped forward and lightly touched the sphere.

Suddenly, the images inside became clear. They saw an ancient city whose people lived in misery and peril. A dark force shrouded the entire city, while its inhabitants struggled in pain.

“What… What is happening?” Rat Man asked in astonishment.

Princess Holly frowned. “I think it may be trying to send us a message. Perhaps our next mission is to save this city.”

The Daoist Master Mysterious One carefully examined the crystal sphere and noticed several strange symbols carved into its surface. He tried using his spiritual power to interpret them and discovered that they appeared to be an ancient spell.

“I believe this crystal sphere may itself be an artifact, one with the power of prophecy. It is telling us that the dark forces have not been completely destroyed. More dangers are waiting for us,” the Daoist Master said.

Liu Joy clenched his fists. “No matter how many dangers await us, we will never retreat. We must protect this world and give its people a life of peace.”

At that moment, the crystal sphere suddenly released a blinding beam of light that enveloped Liu Joy and his companions. When the radiance faded, they found themselves in an unfamiliar place.

Ruined walls and broken buildings stretched in every direction. The people wore tattered clothes, and their eyes were filled with fear and despair.

“It seems we have arrived in the city shown inside the crystal sphere,” Tiger Woman said.

They searched throughout the city and discovered that the source of the dark force was a gigantic dark magic circle. It continuously radiated sinister energy, which was corrupting the entire city.

Liu Joy immediately drew out the artifact and tried to use its power to destroy the magic circle. However, the circle was extraordinarily powerful. The instant the artifact’s light touched it, the radiance was hurled back.

“What are we going to do? It seems we can’t destroy the magic circle,” Ox Woman said anxiously.

Princess Holly closed her eyes and concentrated, using her magic to sense the circle’s weakness. After a while, she opened her eyes.

“I can feel its core deep underground. We must find a passage below the city. Only then can we destroy it.”

Liu Joy and the others began searching for a way underground. At last, they discovered a hidden entrance inside an ancient temple. A powerful magical barrier stood before it, and only someone possessing a particular kind of power could open it.

Liu Joy recalled the ancient spell engraved on the crystal sphere. He tried to cast it with his spiritual power. Just as he had hoped, the magical barrier gradually vanished beneath the spell’s influence, revealing a passage leading underground.

They proceeded downward with great care. A pungent odor filled the passage, while eerie lights flickered along the surrounding walls.

Suddenly, a swarm of dark creatures surged toward them from every direction. Their bodies were grotesque, and they lunged forward with claws and fangs bared.

Liu Joy and his companions immediately sprang into battle. Tiger Woman swung her blades, Princess Holly unleashed powerful beams of magic, and the Daoist Master Mysterious One summoned golden runes with his spiritual power. Ox Woman, Rat Man, and Monkey Man likewise displayed their abilities, engaging the dark creatures in a fierce struggle.

During the battle, Liu Joy noticed that the creatures seemed to possess an instinctive fear of the artifact’s light. An idea flashed through his mind. He released the artifact’s radiance at full strength, and the dark creatures began retreating beneath its brilliance.

Seizing the opportunity, Liu Joy and the others charged ahead and finally reached the core of the magic circle.

The core was a gigantic black crystal. It continually absorbed the surrounding dark energy, sustaining the operation of the circle. Liu Joy knew that only by destroying the black crystal could they bring the magic circle down completely.

He poured all his faith and strength into the artifact. Once again, it erupted with dazzling radiance. Drawing upon every ounce of his power, Liu Joy hurled the artifact at the black crystal.

With a thunderous crash, the artifact struck the crystal, shattering it instantly. The magic circle collapsed, and the dark energy rapidly dispersed.

When the people of the city saw the dark force destroyed, they broke into joyous cheers. They regarded Liu Joy and his companions as heroes and thanked them with all their hearts.

Liu Joy and the others looked at the smiles on the people’s faces, their hearts filled with relief. They knew that their mission was not yet over and that even greater challenges awaited them in the future. But they were not afraid. They had one another, the power of the artifact, and an unshakable devotion to justice.

Before leaving the city, Liu Joy and his companions returned once more to the small lake in the forest. They took the crystal sphere with them, hoping to study its secrets further. They believed it would bring them still more knowledge and assistance.

Carrying the crystal sphere, Liu Joy and his companions set out on a new journey. Their story continued, and their legend would be passed down throughout the land.

As their travels went on, they came upon a mysterious valley. A thin mist hung over it, and strange sounds could be heard in the distance. Liu Joy and the others cautiously entered the valley and discovered an ancient ruin.

The great door of the ruin was covered in strange symbols and patterns, as though it were recounting a history from a forgotten age.

Princess Holly carefully studied the markings. She noticed that they resembled some of the symbols they had seen on the crystal sphere. She tried using her magic to interpret them and discovered that they seemed to hint at the existence of some kind of treasure.

“There may be something important inside. Let’s go and take a look,” Princess Holly said.

Liu Joy and the others pushed open the door and entered the ruin. The interior was vast. Ancient paintings and shields hung upon the walls, while at the center stood a stone platform. Resting upon it was an exquisite box.

As they approached, the box suddenly opened by itself.

Inside lay a suit of armor that glittered brilliantly. Various gemstones were set into its surface, and it radiated tremendous power.

“Could this… be the legendary Artifact Armor?” the Daoist Master Mysterious One asked in astonishment.

Liu Joy lifted the armor and felt a powerful force surge into his body. He knew that it was no ordinary object. It might become a vital weapon in their struggle against the dark forces.

Just as they were preparing to leave the ruin, a deep roar suddenly echoed through it.

A gigantic monster burst from the darkness. Its body was enormous, and its eyes glowed red.

The monster opened its cavernous jaws and lunged at Liu Joy and the others. Liu Joy swiftly donned the armor, raised the artifact, and engaged the beast in battle. Tiger Woman, Princess Holly, and the Daoist Master Mysterious One also unleashed their abilities, joining Liu Joy in attacking the monster.

The creature’s power was immense. Every one of its attacks sent tremors through the ground. Yet Liu Joy and his companions refused to retreat. Strengthened by the artifact and the armor, they gradually discovered the monster’s weakness.

Liu Joy seized the right moment and merged the power of the artifact with that of the armor. Then he launched a fatal strike at the creature’s weak point.

The monster let out a terrible cry and collapsed to the ground.

Having defeated the beast, Liu Joy and his companions left the ruin with the Artifact Armor. They knew that this mysterious object would grant them greater strength and confidence, enabling them to protect the world more effectively.

As time passed, Liu Joy and his companions continued adventuring across the land. Carrying the artifact, the crystal sphere, and the Artifact Armor, they repeatedly battled the dark forces. Each fight made them stronger, and their friendship deepened with every struggle.

By chance, they heard a legend concerning a mysterious island. It was said that an enigmatic object capable of changing the fate of the world lay hidden there.

Without hesitation, Liu Joy and his companions embarked on a journey to find the island.

They sailed a small boat across the boundless sea. After countless days and nights, they finally saw an island in the distance. A mysterious radiance enveloped it, making the place seem like a realm from a dream.

When they stepped ashore, they discovered strange flowers, plants, and mysterious creatures everywhere. They followed a narrow path toward the island’s interior, encountering all manner of dangers and challenges along the way. Yet through courage and wisdom, they overcame each obstacle in turn.

At last, they reached the center of the island.

There stood a massive altar. Upon it rested an object that shone with dazzling light. It resembled a scepter, and a huge gemstone was set into its crown. Within the gem seemed to dwell an inexhaustible power.

Liu Joy and his companions approached and felt the tremendous force radiating from the scepter. They knew that this was the mysterious object they had been seeking.

But just as they were about to take it, a black rift suddenly appeared in the sky. A vast surge of dark power poured through it.

The dark energy gathered into a colossal shadow. It gazed down at Liu Joy and the others and gave a sinister laugh.

“Do you truly believe you can take this scepter so easily? It belongs to the power of darkness. No one will ever seize it from me,” the shadow said.

Liu Joy gripped the artifact tightly and spoke with resolve. “We will not let you have your way. We will protect this world and never allow the darkness to spread again.”

A new battle was about to begin.

Liu Joy and his companions would once again face an immense challenge. But they were ready. They believed that so long as they stood united, they would surely overcome the darkness and protect this beautiful world.

Their legendary tale would continue to be written across the land.
