Liu Kaixin, Daoist Master Xuanyi, and Princess Holly carried the Heaven-and-Earth Bowl and the divine artifacts as they made their way toward the place where the Demon God had been sealed. Along the journey, all three were immersed in a tense mixture of anticipation and anxiety at the thought of soon lifting the crisis that threatened the world. Gradually, dark clouds spread across the sky, and an oppressive atmosphere descended, seeming to foretell that the final battle ahead would be unimaginably difficult.
When they entered an ancient forest, the surroundings became strangely eerie. The branches and leaves intertwined overhead, blotting out the sky and sun, while a thin mist drifted across the ground, obscuring the path ahead. Suddenly, a melodious flute song floated from deep within the forest. Its sound was ethereal and beautiful, yet carried a mysterious undertone that drew the three of them, almost against their will, toward its source.
Deep in the forest stood an ancient altar. Upon it were twelve women dressed in splendid garments. Their features were all different, yet each radiated a unique charm. As Liu Kaixin and the others approached, they discovered that each woman bore a symbol corresponding to one of the twelve zodiac animals.
“You have finally arrived.” A woman dressed in red, with rabbit-ear ornaments on her head, was the first to speak. Her voice was clear and sweet, like a mountain spring. “We are the guardians of the twelve zodiac signs. We have been waiting for those destined to save the world.”
“The twelve zodiac signs?” Liu Kaixin asked in astonishment. “Why are you here? And why are all of you women?”
A woman in tiger-patterned robes stepped forward, a trace of authority in her eyes. “It is fate’s design. The Demon God is about to awaken. Only by gathering the Heaven-and-Earth Bowl, the remaining divine artifacts, and the power of the twelve zodiac guardians can we seal it completely.”
Daoist Master Xuanyi pressed his palms together and bowed slightly. “If that is so, we hope you will aid us in standing against the Demon God.”
The Snake Guardian of the twelve smiled softly, her expression blooming like a flower in spring. “Naturally, we will give everything we have. But before that, you must understand the power each of us possesses.”
The twelve guardians then demonstrated their abilities in turn. The Rat Guardian possessed incredible speed and keen perception, allowing her to see everything in the darkness. The Ox Guardian had immense strength, powerful enough to shake mountains and rivers. The Tiger Guardian was fierce and battle-hardened, a master of countless combat techniques. The Rabbit Guardian excelled at concealing herself, moving with the swift, ghostlike speed of a phantom. The Dragon Guardian could command wind, rain, and lightning, wielding the mighty forces of nature. The Snake Guardian specialized in poison; her attacks were invisible and colorless, leaving enemies defenseless against them. The Horse Guardian could run at astonishing speed, crossing a thousand miles in an instant. The Sheep Guardian possessed healing powers and could mend the wounds of her allies. The Monkey Guardian was clever and nimble, skilled in transformation and ambush. The Rooster Guardian could produce bewitching sounds that disrupted the minds of her enemies. The Dog Guardian had an exceptionally keen sense of smell and unwavering loyalty, enabling her to track an enemy’s trail. The Boar Guardian possessed formidable defensive powers, standing like an indestructible fortress.
After hearing this, Liu Kaixin and the others felt hope stirring in their hearts. With the twelve zodiac guardians joining them, their chances of defeating the Demon God had increased considerably.
Yet at that very moment, a violent tremor suddenly shook the forest. The ground began to crack, and thick demonic energy surged from the black fissures.
“The Demon God’s minions have arrived!” Daoist Master Xuanyi said grimly.

A horde of demonic shadows came rushing from every direction. With claws bared and fangs exposed, they lunged toward the group. Liu Kaixin and the others immediately assumed battle stances, prepared to meet the enemy’s assault.
The twelve zodiac guardians unleashed their powers as well. The Rat and Rabbit Guardians vanished in an instant, slipping into the mass of demonic shadows to launch surprise attacks. The Ox and Tiger Guardians confronted the enemy head-on, their strength and ferocity forcing the shadows back. The Dragon Guardian summoned bolts of lightning and hurled them at the demons; flashes tore across the night sky, illuminating the entire forest. The Snake Guardian released poisonous mist from the shadows, and the demonic creatures collapsed one after another after inhaling it. The Horse Guardian raced across the battlefield, moving so swiftly that the demons could not predict her position. The Sheep Guardian remained behind the front lines, healing the wounded. The Monkey Guardian transformed into a variety of shapes, confusing the demonic shadows. The Rooster Guardian shrieked sharply, slowing the demons’ movements. The Dog Guardian assisted her companions from the flank, tracking the shadows wherever they fled. The Boar Guardian stood at the very front, using her powerful defenses to shield the others.
Liu Kaixin brandished his long saber and engaged the demonic shadows in fierce combat. His swordplay was swift and ruthless, every strike driving back one of the creatures. Daoist Master Xuanyi cast Taoist spells, golden runes flickering in his hands as they streaked toward the enemy. Princess Holly, too, summoned the natural power of the elves. Green light shimmered across the battlefield, supporting her companions.
Under the combined resistance of the group, the demons’ assault gradually weakened. But at that moment, a gigantic demon general slowly emerged from among the shadows. He was enormous, standing more than three men tall, his entire body clad in black armor. In his hands he carried a massive battle-axe, and a dense aura of evil radiated from him.
“Be careful! That demon general is extremely powerful!” Liu Kaixin shouted.
With a furious roar, the demon general swung his battle-axe down at them. The blow generated a violent current of air that nearly knocked everyone off their feet. The Ox and Tiger Guardians exchanged a glance before charging forward together, attempting to block the attack. But the demon general’s strength was overwhelming. The force of his axe sent both women flying.
Seeing this, the Dragon Guardian immediately summoned lightning and called it down upon the demon general. Bolt after bolt struck him, yet he merely trembled faintly and appeared to suffer little harm.
Just as despair began to seize the group, Liu Kaixin suddenly thought of a way to turn the tide. He called out to the twelve guardians, “Everyone, gather your power within me!”
The twelve guardians immediately understood his intention. One after another, they unleashed their abilities and channeled their strength into Liu Kaixin. He felt a surging torrent of power flood through his body. Tightening his grip on his saber, he gazed ahead with resolute determination shining in his eyes.
“Watch this!” Liu Kaixin roared as he charged toward the demon general. Twelve different radiances revolved around his body, intertwining to form a tremendous force.
The instant Liu Kaixin came within striking distance, he swung his saber with all his strength. The blow contained the power of all twelve zodiac guardians. Its brilliance was dazzling, and its force devastating. The demon general tried to withstand it, but the overwhelming power sent him hurtling through the air before he crashed heavily to the ground.

Liu Kaixin gave the demon general no chance to recover. He rushed forward again and struck several times in succession. Every blow carried immense power, and beneath Liu Kaixin’s relentless assault, the demon general gradually lost the ability to fight back.
At last, Liu Kaixin delivered the final strike. His long saber pierced the demon general’s heart. With a terrible scream, the creature’s body slowly collapsed. As soon as the demon general died, the remaining demonic shadows dissipated one after another.
The group finally let out a breath of relief and sank wearily to the ground. The fierce battle had drained them of nearly all their physical strength and spiritual energy.
“We did it,” Princess Holly said weakly.
Liu Kaixin rose to his feet and looked toward the twelve zodiac guardians. “Thank you. Without your help, we could never have defeated that demon general.”
The Rat Guardian smiled faintly. “This victory belongs to all of us. Now, let us go together to the place where the Demon God is sealed and bind it there forever.”
Everyone nodded. After gathering their belongings, they continued toward the Demon God’s prison. They knew that even stronger enemies awaited them ahead, but they felt no fear. They shared a common conviction and possessed formidable strength. Beneath the fading glow of the setting sun, their silhouettes appeared especially resolute.
The final battle was about to begin…
