Volume One: The Demon God's Young Master Chapter 21: The Sealing Demon Tower
Qi Yu did not respond. He lowered his gaze slightly, and the Cold Cicada Sword gradually appeared in his hand. A far mightier and unparalleled aura slowly spread throughout the arena, infused with overwhelming murderous intent!
Su Moxuan maintained a smug expression, his tone laced with mockery: “Qi Yu, how do you wish to die?”
Qi Yu’s eyes sharpened, and his figure suddenly vanished from his original place. A flash of cold light from his sword sliced through the air like a thunderclap tearing across the sky!
Clang! Clang!
The sword’s ringing echoed repeatedly.
An ordinary sword strike.
Yet when golden light burst forth from the sword’s tip—
Boom!
At that moment, the world seemed to lose its color, and the sword in Qi Yu’s hand became the sole radiance in existence!
The venerable elder, who had sat unmoving like a mountain, suddenly had an unprecedented gleam ignite in his eyes.
“Not good!”
The second elder, unable to remain seated, sprang up with shock evident in his eyes.
“Qi Yu, stop!”
But it was too late.
Whoosh!
A sharp sword aura swept across Su Moxuan’s neck, blood splattering everywhere. A head was flung high into the air!
One sword strike!
The Cold Cicada Sword’s aura recoiled.
Su Moxuan’s body collapsed straight to the ground.
The greatest prodigy the Sword Sect had ever produced, the one who had reached the highest realm ever seen in the annual Sword Sect contest, was beheaded by this so-called waste in a single stroke!
The disciples in the audience fell silent.
All stared dumbfoundedly at the rolling head on the ground, their shock beyond words.
That was Su Moxuan—the strongest prodigy in the history of the Sword Sect!
And just like that, dead with one sword?
Zhang Wendian suddenly clapped his hands and jumped up from his seat, shouting excitedly, “Damn right, good!”
After shouting twice, he noticed the second elder’s ashen face and somewhat reined himself in, shrugging his hands: “Ah, senior brother, see? I told you, no death matches. Your grandson wouldn’t listen, and you didn’t stop him. Well then, I’ll be on time for next year’s match!”
His mouth was too loose!
The second elder’s expression grew grim as he silently vowed to tear Zhang Wendian’s mouth apart sooner or later.
He looked back to the arena where Qi Yu had slowly sheathed his sword and stepped down, returning to Zhang Wendian’s side with an indifferent expression—as if the moment when he had beheaded Su Moxuan with one slash had never happened.
Only after Qi Yu left the stage did a clamor rise from the crowd, countless exclamations of disbelief filling the air.
The second elder’s gaze locked tightly on Qi Yu. Su Moxuan was the prodigy he had painstakingly nurtured, originally intended to become the sect’s heir apparent and gradually take control of the Sword Sect.
But Qi Yu shattered all those plans with a single sword!
---
“Qi Yu, why wasn’t it you who died!”
The second elder ground his teeth, murderous intent blazing from his eyes.
Qi Yu furrowed his brow, displeased: “Do you even have the right to call my name?”
The second elder snorted coldly, then rose with a surge of fierce aura that shattered the tables and chairs beside him into dust. He fixed his gaze on Qi Yu and said icily, “Qi Yu, just you wait!”
With those words, he swept his sleeves and left.
Zhang Wendian said, “Don’t worry, he won’t dare act recklessly!”
Qi Yu gave a slight nod. Even if the second elder did act recklessly, he was not afraid.
After all, Qi Yu had the backing of Su Kaishan.
In the following contest rounds, any disciple who drew Qi Yu as an opponent would essentially forfeit voluntarily. I mean, Su Moxuan was killed with one strike! They wouldn’t be foolish enough to think they were stronger than Su Moxuan.
The contest continued until nearly a hundred disciples who passed the trials were whittled down to ten.
A robed steward stepped onto the stage and looked at the ten disciples: “You ten may enter the Inner Sect this year. However, to compete for the position of sect heir, you must undergo the trial of the Sealing Demon Tower.”
The Sealing Demon Tower of the Tiangang Sword Sect was located on Trial Peak, a vast and desolate area stretching hundreds of miles.
The tower was sealed within, containing countless demons from the Demon Realm, and Inner Sect disciples would enter regularly to gain experience.
The robed steward led Qi Yu and the other nine disciples through a teleportation array to the entrance of the Sealing Demon Tower. They all looked up in awe at its magnificent grandeur.
At the gate, several stewards were channeling spiritual energy into ancient rune seals that flickered with thunderlight, and the massive doors of the tower slowly opened.
An indescribable pressure emanated from within, causing many disciples to turn pale.
The demonic aura inside was soaked with bloodshed, slaughter, ferocity, and madness, eroding the reason and minds of the ten disciples.
Only Qi Yu remained unaffected, even feeling a strange sense of familiarity with the demonic energy.
The rune-engraved doors fully opened, revealing dozens of dark, endless corridors before them.
The robed steward said, “Choose a passage to enter the first floor of the Sealing Demon Tower.”
The Sealing Demon Tower had nine floors. Rumor had it that the ninth floor sealed an unimaginably powerful demonic beast.
Qi Yu lifted his foot and slowly entered one of the dark, endless corridors.
Behind him, two stewards guarding the tower watched his back.
One steward named Ji Gang sneered coldly: “Old Jiang, this is Qi Yu. The second elder gave special instructions...”
The steward called Old Jiang had white hair and wore a hesitant expression, though he still nodded slightly.
The corridor was damp and dark. Qi Yu walked slowly to its end and saw a spacious arena surrounded by iron bars like an octagonal cage.
Directly ahead stood a pitch-black door, behind which came the sounds of fierce pounding.
Clack.
Clack.
Soon footsteps echoed on either side of him. Qi Yu turned and saw the other disciples entering similar arenas, each separated by iron bars.
A hoarse voice resounded from above.
“Each floor’s trial requires defeating a demonic beast. The beasts grow stronger with each ascending floor. Only by defeating the beasts and retrieving the teleportation talisman inside their bodies may you advance to the next level.”
As the voice fell, the pounding behind the door intensified, accompanied by successive roars and snarls of various types of demonic beasts, wild and chaotic to the point of chilling the spine.
---
Two disciples were so frightened they nearly collapsed, their bodies reacting instinctively to the terror within.
They finally understood what it meant to train: behind those doors were demonic beasts, to be released for combat.
These disciples had often mocked Qi Yu’s father as a coward. Now, facing the beasts themselves, would they not become the cowards they ridiculed?
The hoarse voice spoke once more.
“The trial begins!”
Qi Yu’s eyes hardened, and the iron door before him slowly opened.
“Roar!”
A roar erupted. A demonic lion appeared. The moment the door opened, it extended a sharp front paw and shattered the iron door with a clang.
This was a turquoise lion, nearly three meters tall, with a long mane radiating dominance. It leapt out of the enclosure, opened its blood-red maw, and roared toward the sky, then locked its gaze on Qi Yu.
A second-rank demonic beast—a Gale Blue Lion!
A second-rank beast right from the start?
Qi Yu furrowed his brow, gripping the Cold Cicada Sword tightly.
The Gale Blue Lion’s fur bristled as it sprinted along the arena, suddenly lunging at Qi Yu.
Whoosh!
Sword light flashed like lightning, yet Qi Yu stood still, unmoved.
The Cold Cicada Sword remained at his waist.
The sword seemed both drawn and sheathed at once.
Midair, the Gale Blue Lion reached Qi Yu’s front; in the next moment, its head bizarrely separated from its body with a muffled thud, falling to the ground.
Blood stained the floor beneath Qi Yu’s feet, the air thick with the scent of carnage.
Qi Yu raised his sword and cleaved off the lion’s head but found no teleportation talisman inside, causing him to pause slightly.
He glanced at the other disciples and noticed that their beasts were all first-rank, mostly snakes or rats—small but ferocious creatures.
Yet even so, most struggled cautiously in combat and barely won.
After slaying their beasts, they would cut open the heads to retrieve the teleportation talisman, then crush it to transport to the second floor.
Only Qi Yu failed to find the talisman in the Gale Blue Lion’s head.
Soon, on the vast first floor of the Sealing Demon Tower, only Qi Yu remained.
“Ji Gang, why was there no teleportation talisman inside the head of the Blue Lion Qi Yu killed?”
Old Jiang frowned and asked.
Ji Gang sneered dismissively: “Old Jiang, why panic? If it’s not in this one, it must be in the next beast’s head!”
Old Jiang lowered his voice: “Ji Gang, what do you mean by that? The sect leader decreed that the first floor can only have one first-rank demonic beast. What we are doing already violates sect rules!”
