Chapter 34: Chen Sheng of Wo Kee

The pit bull tried to twist around and tear at Song Ren’s arm, but its body had already been hurled away with tremendous force.
Weighing well over a hundred pounds, combined with the explosive strength of Song Ren’s arm, it was sent flying seven or eight meters before crashing heavily onto the loose stones along the mountainside. Blood immediately began to seep from its body.
Yet the pit bull seemed completely insensible to pain. It scrambled to its feet and charged again, baring its teeth.
So this was probably what a rabid dog looked like.
Without the other pit bulls to distract and restrain him, a single one posed no real threat.
Song Ren simply twisted his body and lashed out with a whip-like kick, effortlessly sending the pit bull flying once more.
Inside the villa,
the six high-profile big-money backers who usually basked in the glamour of the top-tier fight ring had completely forgotten everything else. One by one, they stood silently before the sofa.
They stared at the screen, where a dark, meatball-like monster kept being sent flying, climbing to its feet, and charging forward.
Then it would be sent flying again, climb back up, and charge once more.
The process repeated itself without end.
That graceful whip kick on the screen seemed not to have struck the pit bull at all, but rather their very souls.
The scene was effortless yet ferocious, and it made them tremble from head to toe.
Only after the twelfth time it was sent flying did the pit bull, already reduced to a bloody mess, finally fail to rise. It staggered twice before collapsing completely, and at last lay still.
From the moment Song Ren first made his move until everything came to an end, barely ten minutes had passed.
The three so-called ferocious fighting dogs—“Handsome Boys”—were all dead.
But after watching the entire process, the six wealthy backers were left utterly shaken by Song Ren’s fluid, devastating boxing and kicking skills, as well as his ruthless claw blade.
On the surveillance footage, every movement flowed with almost supernatural precision, displaying the allure of martial arts to its fullest.
The extreme sharpness of his attacks delivered a visual impact that seemed to strike directly at the soul.
Even now, every one of them remained immersed in the images they had just witnessed.
At the beginning, when Song Ren faced the three pit bulls, the situation had been perilous in the extreme. All six of them had held their breath.
Then Song Ren used the steel framework to launch a soul-shaking single whip kick.
That exhilarating airborne strike had actually killed a powerfully built pit bull with one blow.
Afterward, Song Ren coldly slit the throat of another pit bull with his claw blade, then followed up with a kick that sent it completely to the grave.

Then, in what was almost a one-sided slaughter, he beat the last pit bull to death.
After watching it all, even through the surveillance screen, where night vision concealed much of the force and sharpness of the action, Song Ren’s poise—dancing on the edge of a blade while remaining completely at ease—was unforgettable.
This condemned prisoner was simply incredible!
For one brief instant, an intensely heated desire flared in Tong Peipei’s cool, aloof eyes.
The other men were equally flushed with excitement. They had never seen anyone so outrageously formidable.
He had dispatched three pit bulls with such ease, without suffering so much as a scratch.
A fighter of this caliber was something none of them had ever encountered in the previous rounds of the arena.
Unlike the others, however, electronics tycoon Guo Can’s face was black as the bottom of a pot.
The better Song Ren performed, the more humiliated Guo Can felt.
Not only had the man killed the fighter Guo Can had backed ahead of schedule, but Guo Can’s subsequent attempt to increase the stakes against him had instead become an act of voluntarily handing him money.
He squeezed his wineglass tightly, his eyes growing increasingly sinister.
He had dominated the business world for so many years, yet he had never suffered such humiliation.
At that moment, no one was paying much attention to the footage of the other two condemned prisoners.
Lu Zhengyang and Du Youbang had both performed brilliantly, and Du Youbang in particular had shown a level of brutality and bloodshed that was hardly inferior.
But the overall impact was worlds apart. Neither his sense of urgency nor his ferocity possessed the same visual appeal as Song Ren’s.
The others gradually lost interest.
Only after quite some time did the villa finally fall silent no longer.
Tong Peipei turned toward Zhu Bao’er. Her normally icy eyes now burned with heat.
“Bao’er, how about transferring him to me for five times the price? No—ten times.”
“I’ll personally back him.”
Zhu Bao’er shook her head without hesitation and smiled.
“No. His performance just now was unbelievably fierce. It felt as though his skill had struck straight into my heart.”
“Not ten times the price—not even twenty times. I still wouldn’t agree.”
Tong Peipei’s expression shifted slightly.
Zhu Bao’er’s background was unusual. Though she could not compare with the others in wealth, her connections were terrifyingly powerful.
After all, her father was a knight.
Their exchange extinguished whatever thoughts the others had still entertained.
Zhu Bao’er had made her position so clear that pressing the matter further would inevitably offend her.

...
At the exit of the desolate mountain hunting ground, Song Ren had already come down from the mountain.
Two men in suits were stationed at the entrance. They had clearly received the news, because they opened the gate and let him out immediately.
The driver who had brought them there applauded.
“Impressive.”
“I didn’t see what happened inside with my own eyes, but to obtain that ticket in such a short time… I have to admit, you’ve surpassed all expectations.”
Song Ren turned his gaze toward him.
The driver remained perfectly calm.
“You don’t need to look at me like that. I really did think you would die up there.”
“At the very least, I thought you would be seriously injured. But here you are, standing in front of me without a scratch.”
“That’s beyond anything I can understand.”
He gave a quiet laugh and extended his hand to Song Ren.
“Let’s get properly acquainted. Chen Sheng, Double-Flower Red Pole of the Wo Shing Society.”
Song Ren raised his head and, for the first time, carefully sized up the driver.
He had heard of Wo Shing while in Stanley Prison.
It was currently the most influential organization, with considerable power inside Stanley. Most of its members were held in the higher-ranking prison blocks, however, so he had rarely come into contact with them.
This man was actually one of Wo Shing’s Double-Flower Red Poles. No wonder he had remained so calm all along.
It seemed that Wo Shing stood behind the Fook Shing Building.
No wonder Wo Shing had continued to prosper in recent years. It had apparently relied on the Fook Shing Building to consolidate its advantage in cultivating connections.
Song Ren shook his hand.
After letting go, Chen Sheng smiled.
“Now that you’ve walked out of this desolate mountain, we can finally have a proper conversation.”
Song Ren asked, “If I hadn’t come out, would we not have been able to talk?”
Chen Sheng answered frankly.
“To tell you the truth, before officially obtaining the ticket, condemned prisoners like you aren’t considered worth much.”
“Or to put it another way, until a condemned prisoner obtains that ticket, he isn’t regarded as a normal challenger.”
“If he dies, then he dies.”
“So, regarding the kick you took earlier, as well as Brother Guo’s last-minute increase in the stakes…”
“We didn’t take any definite action.”
“That was because, at the time, you were merely a condemned prisoner.”
“But now, he won’t, can’t, and doesn’t dare to do that anymore.”
