Like birds, azhdarchids had hollow bones and slender struts, forming a lightweight honeycomb structure. Thus, despite their enormous size, they weighed only about 250 kilograms.

This honeycomb structure not only greatly reduced their weight, but also increased the toughness and strength of their bones, making them better suited for flight.

But once they came down to the ground, azhdarchids had to face dinosaurs whose weight casually exceeded a ton. The crushing advantage of sheer mass was no joke!

“Roar!”

It was only after being knocked to the ground that the azhdarchid realized the young tyrannosaur from moments ago had not left at all. He had circled around and launched a surprise attack!

But by the time it understood, it was already too late!

Chuxu clamped his jaws around the azhdarchid’s slender, bamboo-pole-like neck. A blazing fury burned between his teeth as his bite force, doubled by enhancement, exploded forth. Without the slightest resistance, he crushed its hollow cervical vertebrae,

until his upper and lower jaws met completely, severing its head and neck and leaving them separated by only a short distance that might as well have been worlds apart!

“Bang!”

The next second, half of the azhdarchid’s neck, together with the heavy head supported atop it, plunged from a height of more than five meters and struck the ground with a resounding crash.

“Roar!”

Feeling the hot blood flooding his mouth, Chuxu let out a long, exultant roar. His blood was boiling!

So much for an overlord of the skies. In the end, it was nothing but a fragile glass cannon, utterly unable to withstand a single blow!

From the moment Chuxu pounced to the moment the azhdarchid’s neck split and its head was severed, less than ten seconds had passed. Everything had happened in the blink of an eye.

The other two azhdarchids did not even notice Chuxu’s arrival until their companion was already dead.

“Caw! Caw!”

The two azhdarchids, their massive beaks stained with blood from feeding, shrieked in shock and fury. They had never expected the young tyrannosaur to return, much less kill one of their companions.

One of them suddenly strode forward, extended its conical beak—which was a full two meters long—and viciously stabbed it toward Chuxu.

The blow was extraordinarily lethal. An ordinary small or medium-sized dinosaur struck by it might well have been turned into a skewer of meat.

Chuxu naturally had no intention of taking it head-on. His body blurred, and he shot dozens of meters away at an astonishing speed.

“Caw!”

The second azhdarchid’s attack missed. It looked down from above at the “little dwarf dragon” and let out an angry, humiliated shriek.

Unexpectedly, Chuxu came charging back of his own accord, covering the ground in great strides. He moved so quickly that the azhdarchid’s eyes could not follow him, let alone see him clearly.

A full-body collision!

With multiplied strength coursing through him, Chuxu’s muscles and bones surged, his hide grew taut, and his skeleton crackled explosively. The ground shattered beneath his repeated footfalls, and a deep trench was plowed through the earth with a rumbling roar.

“Thud!”

Chuxu slammed into the hind leg supporting the second azhdarchid’s body. With overwhelming force, he smashed its tibia and fibula, causing it to lose its balance at once. Its enormous body tilted to one side before crashing to the ground.

“Roar!”

The instant the second azhdarchid fell, Chuxu was already upon it like a shadow.

Once again, his enormous maw came down to pulverize bone and flesh. Blood-stained banana-shaped fangs, sheathed in liquid armor, bit down with brutal force upon its vulnerable neck.

Blood sprayed. Its anguished cries echoed across the land!

At that moment, Chuxu was releasing himself without restraint.

Once, he had been pitifully weak, struggling merely to survive beneath the protection of his mother.

Now he had grown strong enough to stand on his own.

Even enemies that had once seemed invincible could now be devoured for their flesh and drained for their blood. What could be more satisfying?

After its final shriek, the second azhdarchid died without the slightest suspense between Chuxu’s jaws. Blood gushing from its severed neck drenched his entire body, making him look like a god of slaughter risen from the underworld river of blood!

“Caw!”

The last remaining azhdarchid was scared out of its wits. With a shriek, it spread its wings and hurriedly took flight.

Azhdarchids possessed formidable flying abilities. A powerful leap from their well-developed, densely muscled forelimbs launched them from the ground like divers springing from a platform.

They then beat their enormous membranous wings, rapidly adjusting their shape in flight. This gave them tremendous lift during the acceleration phase of takeoff and sent them soaring into the sky in a single bound.

Although such membrane wings were less maneuverable than those of birds or bats, they were highly aerodynamic and especially well suited to gliding. They could travel long distances with little effort by effortlessly riding the air currents.

“Trying to run? Do you think you can get away?”

Chuxu watched the last azhdarchid leap into the air. It was now two or three meters above the ground and seemed to believe it had escaped danger and could finally breathe easily.

“Whoosh!”

What it did not know was that blazing flames had already begun to gather deep in Chuxu’s throat. Just as the azhdarchid was about to flap its wings and fly away, he opened his jaws and spewed the flames out.

Small Explosion!

A scorching fireball shot into the sky, tracing a vivid crimson arc before striking the azhdarchid’s enormous membranous wing dead-on.

“Bang!”

The moment the fireball touched the azhdarchid’s wing, it exploded in midair like a brilliant firework.

“Caw!”

The blazing tongues of fire devoured half the azhdarchid’s wing, burning it until the membrane was charred black and crumbling.

The force of the explosion hurled its entire body through the air, and soon it fell back to the ground like a kite with its string cut.

Once it landed, the azhdarchid was nothing more than a lamb awaiting slaughter.

Chuxu walked step by step toward the azhdarchid as it cried out in despair. Compared with its own massive body, his “small” frame now appeared utterly terrifying in its eyes.

At last, Chuxu bit down once more, crushing its cervical vertebrae and ending the azhdarchid’s life.

“Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh…”

A fierce wind howled through the area, sending dust and stones flying. Silence settled over the battlefield.

Three enormous azhdarchid carcasses lay sprawled across the ground. All had died in exactly the same manner: their heads separated from their necks, with blood pooling beneath them.

[ Ding! You have hunted a No’s azhdarchid. Evolution points +80. ] ×3

Two hundred and forty evolution points had been credited!

Chuxu was exhilarated. In a single day, he had obtained more than three hundred evolution points. It was an unprecedented harvest!

He was thoroughly satisfied with this birthday feast.

…

It took Chuxu quite some time to haul all of his spoils home.

The grand spectacle left his injured mother, Moonmist, and Starstream utterly stunned.

An adult Edmontosaurus, along with three whole azhdarchids?

Piled together, the carcasses could have formed a small hill!

“Come, come, everyone gets a share. Mother, you take the biggest Edmontosaurus. You two can each choose an azhdarchid.”

Chuxu generously divided the food among his family, making sure they would have more than enough to eat.

Mother began eating the Edmontosaurus, while Moonmist and Starstream each took an azhdarchid.

They seemed to remember how the azhdarchids had once terrified and bullied them. As if taking revenge, they sank their teeth into the carcasses and began tearing into them. Starstream, in particular, seemed to have a special fondness for the rump and ate it with great relish.

Chuxu wanted to taste azhdarchid meat himself, but like ankylosaurs, these creatures had an abysmally low meat yield. They were little more than enormous skeletons.

Even their largest feature, the membranous wing, was only a layer of skin stretched over the limb bones—like chicken ribs: hardly worth eating, yet a shame to discard.
