Chapter 57: Tier 4 Slime
Exlaus looked up at Roche, who had emerged unscathed after slaying a Tier 3 slime, his mouth slightly agape.
A Tier 2 slime tried to take advantage of the moment to launch a sneak attack, but with a casual wave of his blade, Roche cleaved it in half.
He stared at Roche, his heart filled with astonishment.
Even though he knew Roche was absurdly strong, he had not expected Roche to kill a Tier 3 slime without even using any skills, and to make it look so effortless.
Tier 4. Definitely Tier 4.
Exlaus had never witnessed a Tier 4 combatant in action, but at that moment, he mentally classified Roche as Tier 4.
Moreover, a distinct guess formed in his mind regarding Roche’s identity:
The leader of the Vultures.
If there was anyone among the Vultures capable of reaching Tier 4, it could only be that mysterious leader.
"Roar!!!"
Beside him, seeing Exlaus standing frozen in place, came Leila's urgent roar.
Exlaus started, instantly snapping back to the task of cutting down Tier 2 slimes.
A short distance away from the main battlefield,
The members of the Knight Order, watching the colossal divine body of the Tier 3 slime collapse before them, felt a shock far greater than that experienced by Exlaus.
They had no prior knowledge of Roche's strength, so when they saw that figure nonchalantly cleave the towering, wall-like giant slime in two,
the visual impact was utterly immense.
Originally, almost every single one of them had harbored doubt and a lack of confidence regarding this battle, worrying whether they could hold the line at all.
Yet the sight of the falling Tier 3 slime acted like a potent medicine injected straight into their hearts.
It was not as if they had never encountered these damned monsters.
Even during small-scale monster sieges, they had never achieved a complete victory; merely holding the town was the absolute limit of what they could accomplish.
Now, seeing the massive body of a previously unshakeable monster collapse right before their eyes, a wave of exhilaration swept through them.
"Glory to the Kingdom!"
The black-robed woman standing nearby acutely captured the emotional shift among the Knight Order soldiers, and as the vice-commander, she immediately cried out.
"Glory to the Kingdom!!"
The members of the Knight Order shouted in unison.
"Extirpate the alien race!"
The black-robed woman shouted.
"Extirpate the alien race!!!"
The voices of the Knight Order thundered like rolling lightning.
The clamor spreading across the battlefield startled the nobles bound in front of the Knight Order's camp, waking them one by one.
At first, they failed to grasp the situation, blinking their eyes in a daze.
Yet they were instantly jolted into cold sweats by the battlefield before them!
None of them had ever experienced a battlefield from such close quarters; the whistling and roaring of spells echoing across the field pierced straight into their ears,
making it feel as though they were standing dead center in the clash.
Before them, a dense sea of slimes advanced like a tidal wave, roaring, appearing close enough to touch.
In the very next instant, they would be swallowed whole by the horde of slimes.
Instantly, shrieks and cries of terror erupted!
The nobles twisted their pale, flabby bodies frantically, attempting to flee, but to no avail.
Even those noble attendants holding ranks currently found their bodies utterly weak, unable to break free from the heavily reinforced ropes.
"It's the [Enfeeblement Curse], and it's cast by at least a Tier 3 curse caster."
Liss spoke weakly, bound within the ropes.
She was the only one present with any semblance of covering, having been stuffed into a sack by someone.
A sack that looked like it wasn't even worth two copper coins.
"Damn it, who on earth is that man?"
Muke woke up feeling a lingering, dull pain in his abdomen.
He still vividly remembered that terrifying strength, recalling it made his heart tremble.
He gazed at the winding red line on the ground that was rapidly approaching his feet, terror welling up inside him.
If this red line completely enveloped the entire Wheel Town, enslavement would be all that awaited them.
As a rising mage star of Bantara, being enslaved by slimes was far more agonizing than death itself.
"Liss, Sel, think of something! If we run out of the town now, there might still be time."
Muke blurted out hastily:
"The Vice-Commander of the Main Knight Order is right outside. If we just run out and find him now, everything can still be reversed."
Liss shook her head helplessly:
"All our belongings were confiscated, and spatial magic is unusable right now. There's nothing we can do."
"What about that old gentleman?"
Muke asked.
Liss shook her head:
"That lord hasn't fully acknowledged me yet."
"Are we just going to wait here and die?!"
Muke protested in desperate unwillingness.
"Just wait."
Liss recalled the face of Tassanya, lightly biting her lower lip:
"Before the [Domain of the Familiar] is completed, the Vice-Commander will come looking for us when he sees we haven't left the town."
Roche dodged seven or eight sticky fluid projectiles from Tier 3 slimes, then swung his heavy broadsword down with crushing force, cleaving another Tier 3 slime before him into two halves.
[Host has slain a large slime. Points +20]
He retreated once more.
The cries of the nobles echoed from afar; he let out a soft breath—the bait had woken up.
Now it was just a matter of how long it would take for the fish to bite.
He checked his system interface. All the stat points he had just acquired had been poured into Agility and Constitution, combined with the 20 points he had saved previously, making a total of 165 points used.
He allocated 100 points to Constitution and 65 points to Agility.
His current Constitution was 283, and his Agility was 190.
Roche could sense that his Constitution stat was on the verge of breaking through the conceptual shackles he had felt earlier.
He poured the newly acquired 20 points into Constitution, preparing to push his Constitution to the Tier 4 threshold first.
When Constitution reached 300 points, a sensation of shattering a shackle rose from deep within his heart.
Roche let out a soft breath.
He could feel that he had only broken through a portion of the Tier 4 barrier, not entirely transcended it.
His other stat categories still remained trapped within their barriers.
To achieve a complete breakthrough, he would need to elevate every single stat attribute to the Tier 4 standard.
All-attribute Tier 4?
That sounded rather nice.
With a single punch, he caused a Tier 1 slime that lunged at him to burst into pulp, then pondered and added the remaining 3 points to Agility.
Sure enough, a faint shift within his body signaled that his Agility was continuing to climb, inching toward Tier 4.
Suddenly, a black, spherical shadow flickered into existence right before him, bearing an evil smile upon its visage.
Too fast!
Roche narrowed his eyes, staring at the black slime before him.
He had not expected that mere moments after slaying two Tier 3 slimes, this black slime would personally enter the fray.
Without a single moment of hesitation, Roche threw a crushing punch!
Given his current 300 points in Constitution, his bodily strength far surpassed that of the dark broadsword.
His fists were his most formidable weapon now!
The black slime did not evade, directly slamming fiercely into Roche's fist, seemingly intending to crush Roche through sheer frontal impact.
Boom!!!
Roche felt an unprecedentedly powerful shockwave propagate up his arm. Ever since that rainy night, this was the first time Roche had encountered a terrifying force so vastly superior to his own.
The impact blasted him backward, leaving two deep gouges carved into the earth.
Stabilizing his footing, his hand shook slightly as he flicked away the numbness.
As expected of a Tier 4 slime; both its speed and strength vastly surpassed his own.
Fortunately, his newly elevated Tier 4 Constitution had played its part; although his strength fell short, he sustained no major injuries, save for some bruising across the back of his hand.
The black slime narrowed its eyes, the jagged, folding smile on its face dimming slightly.
It had not anticipated that this human before it would withstand its full-powered strike head-on.
Roche massaged his fist and let out a sigh of relief.
At the very least, he was no longer a mere lamb waiting for slaughter.
Yet a lingering concern still weighed heavily on his mind.
Namely, if he became bogged down in a protracted duel with this Tier 4 slime, the devastation wrought upon the battlefield by the other Tier 4 slime and the score of Tier 3 slimes would be catastrophic.
It was entirely possible that both Tier 4 slimes would come after him while the remaining Tier 3 slimes decimated the Knight Order.
There was no helping it—that was simply the disparity in military force.
Therefore...
Where on earth was Old White?!
Didn't he leave a note for the old man?!
Just as Roche was deliberating how to withstand this Tier 4 slime while simultaneously cutting down the Tier 3 slimes,
a familiar, raspy voice echoed loudly from the sky above, circling downwards:
"Kill 'em all if they come, kill 'em all if they come, kill 'em~~ all if they come!"
