Chapter 14: Too Proud to Lose Face
Page 1/3
Su Tian’s forceful words made Chen Ping’s eyes sparkle with admiration. He thought to himself that if he were a woman, he would definitely marry Brother Su! Wait a moment—though he wasn’t a woman, didn’t he have one at home...?
His gaze then shifted toward Chen Ruoxi.
But he said no more, knowing full well that his sister, with her lofty pride, would never look favorably upon the current Su Tian.
“Let’s go inside, then...” he said.
However, as soon as they reached the entrance, a clamor erupted from within.
Upon entering, the scene inside the Divine Healer’s Hall was far from resembling a medical clinic. Almost everything inside was smashed to pieces.
Even the medicinal herbs that had been kept behind the counter were scattered all over the floor.
The entire clinic could be described in four words: a pitiful sight.
“You old geezer! If you don’t repay the money, it won’t just be your shop getting wrecked. You’re someone of standing in our neighborhood—can you stop us from blocking your door every day to demand our money?”
In a corner, someone sat on a chair, with a young woman in her twenties standing beside him, tears still streaking her face.
One of the thugs approached Yang Dongqing, bent over, and patted his shoulder. “Uncle Yang, we’re not trying to make things difficult for you. But tell me, how many times have we come to collect the money, and have you ever been able to pay? You’re a divine healer—don’t you even have a bit of money?”
Yang Dongqing sighed. “I only take what I rightfully earn; not a single cent more.” This was the pride of a true healer.
The thug nodded. “There’s still a chance now. After all, Young Master Wang said that if you’re willing to marry your daughter to him, as his father-in-law, all the debt would be wiped clean. Right? You’re already this old, don’t be so stubborn.”
Yang Dongqing replied, “The Wang family has gone too far. I only borrowed tens of millions, but now with compounded interest, it’s over a hundred million. What they’re doing is no different from loan sharking.”
“Hey, Uncle Yang, you can’t say that. When you borrowed the money, Young Master Wang told you the interest rates and terms, right? So how can you not pay up now?”
Yang Dongqing truly had no response—he had been desperate for money back then.
The Wang family’s son had tampered with the contract, resulting in a high-interest loan that compounded daily, creating an unmanageable debt pit.
“I can repay it, but I need time.”
The thug sighed. “Uncle Yang, I’m not trying to disrespect you. We’re all neighbors here, but paying debts is just common sense.”
Chen Ruoxi stood at the door. “What are you doing?”
Seeing Chen Ruoxi arrive, Yang Zhuyun could no longer hold back her emotions. She rushed over and embraced her. “Ruoxi!”

Chen Ruoxi looked at Yang Zhuyun with a face full of compassion. They had always been close friends, and seeing her friend in such a state was heartbreaking. But she knew the magnitude of the Divine Healer’s Hall’s debts.
No matter how much she wished to help, she truly had no power to do so.
“The Wang family said the debt could be repaid in installments, but they’re still using underworld rules—‘nine out of thirteen back’—and charging such exorbitant interest. It’s really opened my eyes.”
“Who are you? Mind your own business! If they don’t pay, demanding the money is only right. Otherwise, help us pay! If you can’t, then don’t talk nonsense!”
The thug’s tone was arrogant, but those who knew the Chen family understood their prestige.
To outsiders, the Chen family meant nothing.
However, Su Tian seemed to have forgotten one thing.
Long Aotian followed Chen Ping inside and was stunned by the scene.
Upon seeing who was standing before Yang Dongqing, his blood pressure soared—it was none other than a few of the leading thugs from the Black Dragon Gang.
He wanted to disappear into the ground; scanning the room, there was nowhere to hide.
He wasn’t sure if it was still safe to leave now—this was truly embarrassing.
But on the other hand, if he didn’t intervene today, he might never stay by Su Tian’s side again.
So...
Long Aotian approached Chen Ping, placed the box he was holding into Chen Ping’s hand, and strode toward the thugs.
The thugs were bewildered to see Long Aotian arrive.
“Boss? What are you doing here?”
Before they could finish, Long Aotian raised his hand and delivered a powerful slap to one thug’s face, leaving him seeing stars and collapsing to the floor.
“No, Boss! Why did you hit me? What’s going on?!”
“What’s going on? Are you blind? Who the hell do you think you’re messing with?” Long Aotian scolded and then continued to pummel the thug on the ground.
The other thugs stood silently, terrified that they would be next.
Though they hoped to avoid it, they didn’t dare offend Su Tian. If beating them up could make Su Tian ignore the incident, it would be worth it.

“Everyone else! Stand still!”
The thugs obediently stood as Long Aotian beat them. One unlucky thug was kicked two or three meters away, only to crawl back and continue taking the beating.
Chen Ruoxi and Yang Zhuyun were dumbfounded. What was going on? Why were they taking beatings without fighting back?
Yang Dongqing raised his head and saw Su Tian.
But he felt no pride in facing him.
As a healer, he should have upheld the honor of the medical community, not brought shame upon himself and his family.
“Stop hitting them, Boss! We know we were wrong!”
Long Aotian, panting, asked, “You know you were wrong? What did you do wrong?”
“We shouldn’t have taken private jobs. And most of the money should have been given to you, Boss. We shouldn’t have kept it for ourselves!”
Long Aotian’s head ached from anger. “Damn it! Is that all?!” Then he delivered another solid kick.
“Boss! We only took private jobs from the Wang family; we really didn’t do anything else!”
“If you keep talking back, I’ll beat you to death today. Killing you would be cleaning house!”
Long Aotian’s fighting prowess was undeniable; the thugs on the ground knelt and begged for mercy.
“Boss, we really made mistakes! But tell us what we did wrong! How were we supposed to know?”
Long Aotian leaned on a nearby chair, sweat pouring from his head. “You messed up by offending the wrong people!”
The thugs, thinking Yang Dongqing had some connection with their boss, crawled to him. “Uncle Yang, we didn’t know. You have a relationship with our boss? Why didn’t you say so earlier? We would have been polite and never laid a hand on you!”
Su Tian stepped forward. Long Aotian, ever perceptive, moved aside to clear a path.
“Uncle Yang, we meet again.”
